@indigo~ink:
Did you read my latest post? I just explained that that wasn't my intended tone at all.
Hadn't time to and that's the way it got across and stuck. You made it clear to be a rant, with that in mind I replied to it.
@Cruithne:
You're not exactly proving her wrong.
Plz go back to Reddit.
And lol at how you say that right after you blamed the fashion industry for forcing women into petite body types.
Yes. Even putting social issues aside, it doesn't reflect his talent as an artist to make pretty much every attractive female a Nami clone while most male characters can at least look distinct.
"lol you guys arent allowed to criticize oda unless it's about something i dont like xDDDD"
Which is why T&A is so prevalent in the media, right?
Except they're not made for the female gaze.
It makes sense that men in OP have muscle since they're pirates and they have to fight a lot. It does NOT make sense for the women to have no muscle tone whatsoever (the ones that fight, at least), to run in high heels (ow), and to have no variety in design beyond hair and clothes unless they're ugly.
Ah chainmail bikinis, what a novel concept! It sure is nice to see a reference, not something so common that it warrants its own TVTropes page.
I don't feel the need to, not with such an condescending atittude towards males. Her bolded statement was simply not true and that's it.
Not sure if it's possible to take you serious after such an idiotic comment. :(
Yeah, I repeatedly mentioned upbringing, the time and room to teach the children that they shouldn't feel bad or think that they are feally forced into those body types and clothes. I'm damn sure the mass media won't help.
It doesn't have to, he simply draws what's to his liking or maybe the editor's one. Can't fault him for using his freedom as an artist, even less accuse him of perpetuating the problem because there is a choice with other series, in fact hundreds, but yeah I would like to see some other body types too more often.
Assuming to know what I think, not the wisest idea, but not uncommen either. :P It's my opinion, deal with it or not.
That entirely depends on what media you consume or cough where you life. The top model shows and clothes industry has clearly lead to a bigger petite demographic here, which often also leads to more fit [looking] girls, as well as well bootied asses since the glateus maximus is worked out more often, but that's to off-topic already.
That's your opinion, but you can try to convince me with some hard facts proving your claim. I've browed some image boards and the prevalent pictures of shounen ai themed pics including OP character had them beautiful as fuck, often dark, but still good looking. So gay readers aren't finding that body type to their liking, males can't find that to their liking, it can't be for eye candy too? Bah, the presumption that all males are hetero and men in general can't speak about male characters in this kind of way is just ugly.
Never said it's not problematic, but some of the arguments do fall under artist choice Imo, even if they are not to my liking.
Well Red Sonja is the original one and it works out with her theme of speed wearing nearly nothing. Look over your ego and take a look at the plot please.
