RE: Post-Enies Lobby filler arcs [Manga spoilers]
@Roz:
Edit: Spoiler tagged because I'm an idiot. (Relevant to latest manga chapter)
! Iceberg chills with the Franky Family.
! Best damn filler ever.Yeah, that would be the best filler material, I can even imagine the Franky Family in suits, handing out paperwork, with the square sisters becoming secretaries.
Franky spends an entire episode teaching the crew to dance, only for them to fail horribly, leading them into a filler arc inorder to find their dancing spirit by defeating the fearsome Sonjack Leachim!
The scary part: That sounds like something Toei would actually do…

RE: Garp's Impossibly Huge Ball & Chain Attack
I find it more ridiculous you're trying to make sense out of a manga with a talking reindeer, a guy that stretches and all kinds of other shit that makes even less sense.

RE: Using the Coup de Bust to reach the White-White Sea?
What is this White-White sea?
It's what they called the sea in Skypeia.
Does anyone mind showing me where this "lawn" is? I don't see anything like that in these recent chapters, nor do I see anyone talking about it.
Anyway, using Coup de Bust to get to the White-White sea is a pretty bad idea. Not only would they have to use more than three (because of angle, time it takes to use it again, etc) but what are they gonna do when they hit the sea? Going through it would destroy the ship, let us not forget our Straw Hat friends can't breathe underwater.
So no, I don't think they'll ever do anything like that.

Q.) Is that Luffy a bad mother-...?

A.) Nothing, for his hat is the source of his strength.
Q.) What's Chopper's favorite part about being a doctor?

RE: How does Jinbei look?
You know? I'd laugh like hell if Jimbei was feminine. Instead of this big bad whale shark that eats rats for breakfast, kittens for lunch and bunnies for tea, we get a tu-tu wearing, flower planting, Designing Women-watching wimp.
I really hope Jimbei is different than what we think, maybe he'll be a shrimp or something.

RE: Untitled
Another one I forgot:

Looks like Franky likes his men big and spinning. -

Where the hell is Zoro's hand?! A bit of a stretch, but it always looks like he's grabbing Usopp's… -

A.) Yes, emos do it all the time.
Q.) What would happen if Sanji's cigerette was replaced with a joint (pot, hemp, etc for those who don't know)?

RE: The Hatchets that Would Not Be Buried: USOPP TALK. (Spoiler Warning)
First of all, Usopp seems to be the most like a real person in the One Piece world. He's physically weak and uses weapons to his advantage. He's also afraid of impossible things (Mole-woman, Mr. Lightning Guy and the Big Bad wolf are a few examples) and lies all the time. This is why I like Usopp, he doesn't pull out a pill that makes his power level go over 9000 (!!!).
People start saying he had bad character development in the Enies Lobby arc and try to use previous examples of the things he did to show he changed. While this is true, there's a simple reason. Let's start with the people that say "He protected Nami from Enel but tried to run from Jyabura!". Ok, try this, have a friend of yours run out into an open field in the middle of a lightning storm and try to save them. You do, but you get struck by lightning. Somehow you survive it and go outside into some woods to find some keys to some other girls cage (don't ask how it got out there) and see a wolf. Are you going to try to fight the wolf? Or are you going to take the key and run? You'd better be damn sure I'd take the key and run like hell. This is exactly what Usopp did. Bravery isn't a level, you can't face one thing and then laugh a lesser thing in the face.
Now for the people that talk about how Usopp is still a coward and lies, you see, there is a little thing called "character", it doesn't change at the fucking drop of a hat. Let's say you like to talk about ponies when suddenly you and a friend get in a fight. While you're serious, you're not going to go out and shoot a million of them dead in point-blank range. Usopp will always be this way and that is what makes him different from the rest of the crew.
Now, about Usopp's fight with Luffy. Let me begin with the begining of that day (when Luffy, Nami and Usopp were at the ship yard). Usopp was holding 200 Million Beli in suitcases and got robbed, this made him feel "I can't even guard a suitcase" and started to get angry at the Franky Family. He then raided their house and got beaten even further. Obviously, this was a major blow to his ego (not that it was big, but it showed him he was weak). It was then that Luffy informed him about leaving the Going Merry. Luffy told him that the ship was damaged and wouldn't be able to take any more, which effected Usopp greatly. First of all, he loved the ship. It was a gift from his closest childhood friend, for his friends to say it was useless and were going to abandon it enraged Usopp. It also made him realize a paralel between the Going Merry and himself, that he himself would also eventually be called useless and be abandoned.
It was then that Usopp challenged Luffy to the duel. The rage was still fresh in his mind, and he made a foolish mistake while fueling himself on it. Usopp lost to Luffy and then went on with his life. If you notice, the next time we see Usopp he's not enraged, he's his regular old self. Obviously if he was in his right mind while talking to Luffy, this probably could've been avoided. Usopp realized that he was wrong, but knew he couldn't come crawling back to the crew after what he did. He yearned to be back with his friends, but couldn't because of his actions, it was then that Sogeking was born.
Sogeking represents Usopp's desires, he wants to be a warrior, he wants people to see him as a hero, he wants to be a person like Luffy. It was then at Enies Lobby that he was beaten into reality by Jybura. His thought that with a new weapon and a new look he could do anything, but Jybura showed him these things don't come at the drop of a hat. Sanji also explained to Usopp that he was trying to be something he couldn't and should use his strengths. Sogeking was a mask Usopp was hidden behind, but what he didn't realize is that he's still the same old Usopp (plus the adding of "-kun" to people's names, that is).
Now, fast forward to the more recent of chapters. Here again (Chap 431) Usopp was masking his true feelings by trying to play them off as nothing. He thought that after the aftermath everything would be forgiven, but this was obviously not the case. Now more recently (438) Usopp still tried to use these false feelings in an attempt to rejoin the crew. It was thhen that he realized that Luffy was not as stupid as he previously thought, the wound would not heal with salt. He gave a sincere apology to Luffy and the crew, he knew he was wrong and wanted Luffy to know he made a mistake, and Luffy forgave him.
While I didn't think the newest chapter wasn't terrible, it wasn't the best thing I hoped for. Usopp showed that he still thought Luffy was as dense as a log and tried to con himself into getting back into the crew. He has to learn that the captain's word is final and that you shouldn't underestimate them. Usopp still has developing to do, so I believe people should give it some time before calling him a trainwreck of a character. The crying from both Usopp and Luffy also seemed a bit much, but I guess that's more of a problem with Oda than the characters themselves.
My post was longer than it needed to me, but all well. Sorry if my points seem a little unorganized, I'll edit it if I see any mistakes.

RE: Should we expect more relatives????
@Dixxy:
What do you mean by "OMG IMPORTUNT!"? I think if they show up they'll be important to the storyline (or at least Sanji's backstory), but I doubt they'll be, like, royalty or Marines captains or ex-members of Gold Roger's crew or something. Unless Sanji feels ZILCH for his parents, an encounter would have some impact - this would include feelings of hostility he may or may not have.
When I say "OMG IMPORTUNT!" I mean it's knowledge that ties into the storyline, which I doubt will happen. I believe, if we see his parents, they'll be regular people. As with my example of Sanji being from North Blue, it's not important but it's still there.
-
RE: Should we expect more relatives????
@Fire Fist:
Nami: The whole Begabank thing wasn't pulled out of Oda's ass for no reason. I'm about 80% certain that's Nami's real father.
Nami was a baby when Bellemere found her, so Nami couldn't have known. That's the only "evidence" that theory has.
Usopp: His mom was a normal person. an inventor, but a normal person… with a long nose.
Yeah, she wasn't particularly important in the storyline.
Sanji: I have a feeling that we'll meet his real parents sooner or later.
I'm not saying we won't, but they probably won't be "OMG IMPORTUNT!"
Robin: Her father is Gol D. Roger. There's a lot of evidence to this, but no absolute proof.
Roger could:
1. Read the poneglyphs, something only someone from Ohara could do.
They never said only people from Ohara could, if I remember correctly, they said they were known to.
2. Roger's eyes are hidden.
That's not evidence at all. How does Roger's eyes being hidden point to him being Robin's father?
3. Robin had a DF power at a young age; being a child on a small island, someone would have to have supplied it to her… say, a certain pirate king?
Again, you're just putting random evidence to point to Roger. Even if she didn't just find it (which I'm guessing), people from Ohara (What are they called again?) travel the world, they could've brought it back with them.
4. Roger entered Skypeia roughly around the time that Olivia left for her expedition. At that time, Robin's father was referred to as being "Late". A possible theory is that because the Oharans did not know about Skypeia, they assumed him dead during his time up there. Even if they did, it's quite possible he arrived there via Knockup stream, and the Oharans never thought that anyone could use Knockup stream to reach Skypeia. Or a third option is that because he was an infamous pirate, he was "Dead" to them.
I guess this is a bit of evidence, but it isn't enough for me to think Roger + Olivia = Robin.
5. Robin's black hair doesn't come from her mother, that's for sure.
OMG LUFFY IS ROBIN'S FATHER BECAUSE HIS HAIR IS BLACK!
6. Olivia represents an Angel, Roger represents "Jolly Roger", AKA the Devil.
Where did you get this from? From my viewpoint, Olivia hasn't done much to show that she's an "Angel". Roger might be the devil, though.
7. Robin and the D's seem to bond well.
She's met two Ds and got along with them… So? The whole crew plus Vivi got along with Luffy and Ace. gasp that Roger guy sure gets around!
-
RE: Should we expect more relatives????
This is what I hate, just because their Strawhats doesn't mean their parents have to matter.
Luffy: …Duh
Zoro: Doubt it. When he was a kid, he seemed pretty normal (in the sense that his life wasn't "OMG TEH GOVERNMENT KILLD MAH PARNTS!!!")
Nami: No, we've already seen her step mother and sister. Having her real parent be someone of huge importance would be overkill.
Usopp: Yasopp's all we need from him. His mother was probably some normal person.
Sanji: Maybe talked about in passing, but not having his parents famous. Zeff was enough for him.
Chopper: Are you joking?
Robin: Hell no, her dad was probably just a fellow archaeologist along with Olivia. Again, having him be "OMG IMPORTENT!!!" would be overkill.
Franky: His dad is (or was) a pirate, but I doubt he was all that famous. Maybe a bit well known in parts of town (A bit like Usopp was, in the sense that he was popular). He has Tom and Iceburg for his famous family.
I really hope the crewmembers' parents don't end up having a huge impact on the story. Maybe they could mention them, similar to Sanji saying "Did I never say? I was born in North Blue." It's information, but it's not particularly important.

RE: What would you like to see the characters re-enact?
I can't believe this hasn't been said…
The Juggernaut, Bitch!!!
Charles: I dunno, there aren't any bald One Piece characters I can think of. Don Flamingo, maybe? Since his ability's like telekinisis.
"Ketchup": Usopp (Lasers and things)
Black Tom Cassidy (Unnamed in the actual thing): Zoro
"Bitch": Robin
Rogue: Ms. Doublefinger (Strong woman fits the mold, I guess)
Gambit: Ace
Storm: Nami
And finally…
The Juggernaut: ODA BOSS!!!

RE: Franky's… (CONTAINS MANGA SPOILERS)
I think it should show a refridgerator of cola first, then it shows Franky in his "SUPER!" pose.
Or something involving his guns. Yes… Guns are good...
-
RE: Is Franky W7 arc's best possible addition?
You're all forgetting one other part about Franky's uniqueness: The different drinks he puts inside him and the way he reacts. I really hope that kind of thing will come up again, with different drinks. Beer? Maybe he wants to fight or something. Chocolate milk? He becomes a "sweetie". Juice? He becomes a fruit (Haha joke). Obviously those are wishful examples, but maybe Chopper or Usopp could make a drink that powers him up even more.
Either way, if we never see that kind of gag, I'll feel very robbed.
-
RE: Untitled
A.) Yes, he is. Why do you think he became a doctor? To mirror George Washington Carver. Of course, he wasn't a doctor himself, but no one wanted to break the news to Chopper.
Q.) Do you want some more hot coa coa?
-
RE: The Usefulness of Land and Sea-based Zoans
Picture this, a preist ate a fruit (don't think about it muchm you'll hurt your head) and got- Wait for it- The praying mantis fruit! He'd have super kick-ass action and could prey… Superly?
Stupid idea, but a praying mantis fruit would be pretty cool.

RE: Untitled
A.) Eating, so his name would be Monkey Eating Luffy.
Q.) Is his name Portgas Dace or Portgas D. Ace?
-
RE: Sounds that Only Teenagers can hear?
Hmm… I'm not sure if I hear it or not... Is it just a high "beeeeeeeeeeeeeep" sound, barely audible? Or am I just hearing the ringing I always hear when it's quiet? I hate my ears...

RE: AP member location map
Added myself. Funny, there are tons of people around here, but I'm the only one actually in DC.
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
I think you may be onto something there. "Two people, seperated at birth, but haven't missed a beat in terms of looks. On the next 'Maury' "
I actually spotted a few in the latest episode, take a look:
!
Fukkoru's missing his zipper, as you can plainly see.
!
There's nothing wrong with this picture, but when you see this one…
His hair is obviously gone. Lazy animating, I guess.
!
Robin looks a tad weird here. I'm not sure if it's really poorly drawn or just me, though.I think there were a few I forgot to screencap, I'll look later.

Sweet Jesus, that was fast. I'll give this group a chance this time.

RE: Christmas Present
Actually, that's what they'd probably need the most. With only two girls, someone's gonna have to play solo sometimes…
I mean, look! Nami gets a quarter!
-
RE: Christmas Present
Zoro : The Mugiwara "Beast" needs a dog-collar. (On the off-chance that they land on an island where bounty posters haven't circulated yet. How else will the island's inhabitants know which crew Zoro belongs to when he gets lost?)
Oh right, give the fangirls something else to twist into their own pleasures…
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
Is he too good for Tattoos?
No, but he's stuck with a permanent nametag.
"Your name wouldn't happen to be Yasopp, would it?"
That above pic is creepy looking.
-
RE: The Usefulness of Land and Sea-based Zoans
Zoans are far from useless. To add onto the post above, Lucci could get even stronger by training in his animal form, to find out more about his fruit (Similar to, again, Kaku). It's simple, Zoan fruits are a gamble just as much as the other fruits are.
But were not talking just about the cp9. were talking about zoan fruits in general and if you gave a normal strength person a zoan fruit it would lose to a normal person with a paramecia or logia fruit.
Not really, want proof? Apis. (Yeah, I know she's not canon, but I heard Oda created her himself)
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
Oh, I get it now… But what's with Yasopp; is he too good for headbands?
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
Wow, why is Kumadori always so badly animated?
!
Others…
!
Now, I'm not sure about this one. At first, Yasopp has his name imprinted on his headband, but now it's on his forhead. But in the manga recently, his hair was different and had a tatoo like that. So, which is it?
!
Interesting face and hair ya have there, Luffy. -
RE: [ADC-Elites] One Piece 287
One Piece 287? Damn, that was fast. Please have my babies.
-
RE: Is Franky W7 arc's best possible addition?
I could see why people would think Paulie would join… At first. For one, he had a very unique design and fighting stlye. Two, he was Sanji's polar opposite and a gambler. But then, once Franky was shown, I have no idea how people could think Paulie would join over him. ESPECIALLY at Enies Lobby. Did people seriously think Franky would say "Well, I just helped you save Robin, bye!"?
From the second Franky was shown with such a unique design, it was way too obvious he would join.
-
RE: Untitled
A.) No, people would be too busy laughing at the name Robbie Rotton.
Q.) Why does Franky sound exactly the same no matter what age he is in the anime (excluding when he was REALLY small)?
-
RE: Untitled
Well, 4Kids likes to mention American things, right (Like Zoro's "Maybe they think we work for Sigfried and Roy!")? Which makes me do this:
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5822/giraffepw6.png
I cut out most of the panel, since it was huge and didn't have much of a point in this particular joke.
"We have to get as far away from the giraffes as possible!"
-
RE: Untitled
A.) No, DINGO BAT did that.
Q.) Who is the Half-Blood Prince?
-
RE: Christmas Present
@Hyper:
I could see another reason for chopper wanting a plush of himself….hey he's an animal after all .
Autosexuality is on the uprise… Chopper seems to think so, judging from your signature.
-
RE: Soldier Dock System
Isn't it obvious? Oda made an agreement with Konami's series "Boktai"! Instead of a mermaid as the next crewmate, it'll be the game's star, Django! Can you say, "Taiyou!"?
Oh wait, soldier dock system… I'm guessing it's an area for training on docks. Or it's a trap for armymen to come in and get crushed... Maybe not that last one.
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
The wind was blowing, though, which is why I didn't mention that.
I also forgot to mention Luffy's face.
-
RE: Untitled
A.) Nausea, heartburn, coma, death. In that order.
Q.) What's the deal with Robin's nose?
-
RE: Christmas Present
Luffy: A gameboy. He seems like the kind that would love to play those kinds of games, especially Pokemon.
Zoro: An extra-soft beanbag chair and some eyeball glasses. Maybe then he can sleep in peace and people would think he's awake.
Nami: I'd get her face to be printed on Beli Bills. That way she could get rich quick.
Usopp: A secret identity, so he can at least be a decent superhero.
Sanji: An inflatable girlfriend, with vibrating action. Really, what else could he possibly want?
Chopper: A tape recorder that compliments him whenever he wants. Also, and stuffed Chopper doll for when they run out of food. Everyone needs a decoy.
Robin: A replica ponyglyph, for when she has a fix.
Franky: Something involving make-your-own cola. With ingredients he can always have on him. Suuuper!!!
-
RE: Poorly drawn One Piece scenes
There is no god.
Hail Satan.
I'm not sure if this one counts, since it's not exactly "poorly drawn", but it's a mistake.
!
Now, I understand the symbolism of them standing together to save Robin, but they were just standing on platforms. How are they standing shoulder to shoulder all of a sudden?
Zoro's face also looks a little weird.
-
RE: Untitled
A.) No, it fuses with his leg. Eating the fruit made him lose his manhood.
Q.) Why does Sanji like Nami?
-
RE: What the hell…
God, you wouldn't believe how pissed off I was about 285. Half the episode was recapping the same damn thing, a fourth was repetive filler material, a fifth was drawing things out and a… Well, the rest was something new. The pacing in this episode was terrible, you can really tell they're trying to stretch it.
However, 286 was MUCH better. Even though they had to stretch it out, recapping didn't take 10 damn minutes. The stretching wasn't the worst in the world, either (Nami asking about Kamadori's key, Usopp and the bee, Chimney following Lucci and Spandam, etc). And, get this- Something INTERESTING happened! The Zoro/Usopp thing started and we finally get to see Kaku's transformation animated. I quite liked this episode, and hope the next one will be alright.
@Mr.:
I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the rest of Enies Lobby was similar to this. In fact, we're so close to catching up with the manga; I predict that the fights will be subtly added to (like in Luffy vs. Blueno) and we'll see several mini fillers that elaborate on scenes of the manga. Like Gonbe and Chimney following Lucci, Spandam, and Robin. The post EL part will definetly be extended with at least one or two fillers. So be prepared for drawn out episodes.
If something like that happened, it wouldn't be all that bad. Just for the love of god, I hope they DON'T make it like 285…

RE: East Blue pirates underrated
Oh yeah, I forgot about bounties, which I feel would be different for most of them. Buggy's was alright since he wasn't all that strong and only attacked things hat had no people in them (I mean his Buggy balls, by the way). Kuro's bounty I feel was too low. He would be living proof you don't need to be strong to have a high bounty. He wasn't all that strong, but he was damn dangerous because he would kill ANYONE without hesitation. That kind of thing would be a threat, and I believe his bounty should have been a bit higher. Not much higher, maybe 20million altogether.
Krig I also felt deserved a bigger bounty, I doubt anyone would disagree. He was a total pussy and played using the dirtiest tactics. Again, I feel his bounty should be higher, maybe 25million.
Arlong's was just right. If he had been rampaging then yes, it should have been higher, but he didn't do much all those years.

RE: Has Usopp Become Hated by Others In Other Places? (manga spoilers)
You forget, those people are Narutards.
-
RE: Next Chapter: Luffy vs Franky?
Luffy probably already redefined the term "stretch-pants" when Nami did Hapiness punch. We don't need to see THAT.
-
RE: Next Chapter: Luffy vs Franky?
We do NOT need to see Luffy and Franky with no speedo tackling each other on the ground.
He'll probably notice the Franky Family will be alright on their own and decide to go.
