I have a theory for doflamingo's survival!
My believe is that do flamingo is based on a puppeteer, he controls people like puppets.
In line with that view I think bird cage makes do flamingo a puppet himself, giving him the power to separate his body parts at certain cut-off points and move like a puppet without dying.
The attack's name might be a reference to pinocchio being caught in a bird cage in a famous scene.

RE: Chapter 739: Captain
Why is everyone complaining about a blunt sword?
We've had bamboo sticks and drainpipes as weapons, how are those more lethal or dangerous then a blunt sword.When I see this chapter I see something completely different then what most people on this forum depict.
I see an individual truly believing in the strength of someone els. Someone with faith.
I see a hero who has suffered a lot, but refuses to give up. Someone with conviction.
And I see a girl, only 16, already incredibly strong for her age. Fighting against all the injustice that's been done to her in this world.
A well build-up character with her own unique fighting style and the ethics, norms and values of avoiding unnecessary violence. Something she learned heartfelt from her own sad past.I liked this chapter :)

RE: What will happen to the Mera Mera no Mi?
@Fleet-Admiral:
I have pretty much thought's but still not SO sure about this. Mera mera doensn't maybe fit so well to Coby. It was perfect to Ace because it symbolized his whole personality. Coby is more calm, not so temperament person. Oda always make's sure that fruit fits to the user. I think this is the reason why Coby will not eat Mera mera no Mi.
This is far-fetched, but Oda might go down the ''''Avatar: The Last Airbender'' Road.
In which fire can symbolize different things:
-Ace used his fire too symbolize hot headedness, aggresion and stubborness (in a cool manner ofcourse, not bashing Ace, I love him)
-And Coby might use fire to symbolize passion, a source of calm and vigorous energy and although following his own path, still somehow retaining the idea of being a memento and legacy of Ace. -
RE: One Piece 708: Colosseum full of rascals
@Don:
I wonder if this has something to do with Bartholomeo's ability or is it Oda's mistake? http://tinypic.com/r/rlfkp4/5 http://tinypic.com/r/fd4md5/5Now that i think about it. Maybe the screen when we saw Zorro with Luffy's scar on his chest was on purpose? Maybe a hint for us to look carefully at details in next chapters?
Why isn't anyone paying attention to this comment! Very interesting find!
It seems as though the tattoo on bartolomeo's chest dissapears, makes a hissing sound and then blocks the fishmankarate punch.
It reminds me of a certain shadow shadow fruit that Gekko Moriah used.
or maybe he has something like the draw-draw fruit and anything he draws can come to life. including a tattoo on his chest. -
RE: What will happen to the Mera Mera no Mi?
@Gear:
Just because Coby's gonna be an admiral doesn't mean that he has to get the mera mera no mi. And, Luffy giving it to him like that would mean digging his own grave. There are other ways for Coby to get powerful.
Luffy diggin his own grave sounds just like him.
All that matters is that luffy respects Coby and sees him as a friend. Luffy would only smile at the challenge of a fight with someone strong whom he respects, you might even go as far in saying that it would be like settling the rivalry between ace and luffy.
In the Last chapter of one piece (After the war is finished and Coby is admiral) there might be a final friendly rival battle between Luffy and Coby.
Chapter name: ''A long awaited battle: gomu-gomu no mi vs the mera-mera no mi!'' -
RE: What will happen to the Mera Mera no Mi?
@Gear:
^ ^ That would be really lame.
At the very least, it makes more sense then Sanji obtaining the fruit.
The fruit doesn't fit Sanji''s fighting style. Sanji only fights with his fiery kicks, a fire fruit doesn't add anything too that. And Oda will not alter sanji's fighting style, he will remain a leg-style user. Sanji already has a well established power/ability and he can grow out to become Admiral-level. For coby too become Admiral-level he needs an extra push. He is still only captain level. He needs a big boost if he wants to catch up too luffy and become Admiral after the next big war.
The fruit is a memento too Ace. Sanji has nothing in common with Ace. Coby has the same willpower, the same grudge agains't akainu.
If coby eats the fruit it could be the artifact that reunites pirates and marines to create a better world (the new government) A piece of Luffy and Ace in the government. A token of friendship between luffy and Coby that shows luffy supporting and believing in the new government lead by coby. -
RE: What will happen to the Mera Mera no Mi?
My theory:
Coby eats the mera-mera fruit
How? Read below
-Fujitora mentioned bringing several Marine Warships too DressRosa.
-Coby will be on one of the ships.
-Chaos will go down as soon as the Marines attack and all the pirates in the tournament start fighting.
-At some point in the commotion Luffy will escape with Ace's fruit.
-Luffy will meet Coby
-Coby shares his condolences about Ace and explains that he doesn't agree with the way Akainu handled things in MarineFord. Coby: ''The Marines should prioritze protecting the world, and not let people get harmed because of feelings of hatred''
-Coby will mention that he got stronger and that when he becomes an Admiral, he is going to change the marines into an honest organization that will protect the world.
-Luffy gives Coby the mera mera fruit. Saying that he can now see the same willpower as Ace has and that at some point he would like to challenge Coby and his will/conviction.Similarities between Coby and Ace:
-Coby was trained by garp just like Ace.
-Coby stood up against Akainu during the War, just like Ace did.And when the final war occurs, The government will be overthrown and Coby will be an admiral in the newly created Government under the jurisdiction of Fleet Admiral Aokiji.
And besides, all admirals got a Logia Fruit so far. It would be fitting for Coby too get the mera mera fruit as a legacy and a part of Ace and Luffy in the new government. -
RE: General Blackbeard Thread
I respect your opinion BUT I couldn't disagree more. Akainu's opposition to Luffy is his ideal of absolute justice to Luffy's idea of absolute freedom, and then you have the fact he killed Ace. However Akainu is the only central figure in the Marines that is in complete opposition to Luffy so if Luffy vs Akainu is the final boss then who do the other SH's fight? Blackbeard is pretty much a dark Luffy or a parallel Luffy. He has the same goals and many of the same beliefs HOWEVER he goes about them in a completely different way (betrayal, recruiting only strong crew members) and the way his crew as a whole is, is the antithesis of the SHs. He recruited Shiryuu lasts yet Shiryuu seems to be his most powerful member unlike Zoro who was recruited first. His crew threatened to break up if he failed to retrieve WB's fruit but Luffy's crew wanted to do whatever it took to be with him after his brother died. So I think as a overall concept Blackbeard is a far better final villain and could shape up to be one of the best in any manga series. As for Akainu, Kid has an opposition to Luffy as well in that he is the only other captain with a SN first mate and has the only bounty higher than Luffy's. Kid also sees people who dare insult his dreams as serious offenders while Luffy allows stuff like that to bounce off him. Obviously even being a massive Kid fanboy, I'm not delusional/retarded enough to think Kid is final villain material (not saying thinking Akainu is final villain material is retarded). I think Akainu presents a great challenge and adversary to Luffy but Blackbeard presents the direct threat to his dream.
But that's exactly why blackbeard won't be the final boss. Luffy's journey is turning out to be about more then just fullfilling his dream. As whitebeard mentioned before his death. There will be a great war in which the marines will have to take amends for everything they have done (void centruy, etc..) Blackbeard will be luffy's opponent for the title of Pirate King and to get One Piece. But akainu will be his opponent in the great war in which all of the people that luffy has met during his journey will fight by his sides to change the world in which everyone is equal and the government will be reassimilated. With perhaps coby and smoker and sengoku and aokiji at the top of the newly formed marines.

RE: General 'Four Emperors' Discussion
This conversation ends the moment you deny that Mihawk and Shanks are not Equal individually. Because I am using Mihawk as a measure to Determine Shanks Strength. If you cannot Acknowledge this we cannot take this Converstion any further. I know we have seen nothing from the Other yonkou. But we have seen something from Shanks Equal Mihawk. So if you can't agree to this I can't go any further.
I find the dragged out discussion between the two of you to become a tad boring, although I have to say I agree with you on almost all your statements in this topic, except for the part I quoted above.
When Mihawk met shanks to show him luffy's wanted poster he said the following: 'I do not wish to fight a man with only 1 arm'
This makes me think that when mihawk and shanks fought they did so prior to him losing his arm.
And I always saw the timeline as Shanks becoming yonkou AFTER meeting luffy. This would make up for getting defeated by a little seaking and being so stupid to let a 8million beri bandit escape with luffy. And it would explain the changes in appearances the red hairs went through between meeting luffy and the whitebeard war.
So in my eyes, shanks and mihawk fighting was at such an early stage at which shanks would 've probably been a superrookie and not a legend. So many years have passed (20 years or so) and them being equal is not a given.
Shanks as an armless man is apparently strong enough to be a yonkou, but I still place mihawk higher in the rankings in the current time.EDIT: lol, post above me beat me too it AND he worded it better.. My job is done
