I'm find it kinda humorous that Katakuri's fruit is a butt plug.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 7 - Wano)
What's the 2.9 theory? First time I hear about it.^^
That theory about the crew's devil fruits being named after the numbers:
Gomu Gomu: 5-6-5-6
Hana Hana: 8-7-8-7
Hito Hito: 1-10-1-10
Yomi Yomi: 4-3-4-3Someone mentioned it on a SBS and some people even thought that meant Kuma would join because his fruit would fit the pattern (Nikyu Nikyu: 2-9-2-9).

RE: Vivre Card: One Piece Visual Dictionary
It's a shame that the lower ones don't include Jinbe…
-
RE: Vivre Card: One Piece Visual Dictionary
Starter Set Vol. 2 will have these cards.
- Going Merry.
- Thousand Sunny.
I'm so anxious, their card numbers will probably impact the newkama discussion.

RE: Volume 90 Predictions/Discussion
C'mon, he clearly picked the words with a logical sense, based on real terms, he just doesn't know how to write them in latin characters. There should be better ways to write these words that make more sense for us than what Oda picked. His past history also doesn't favour some 'clever though out romanization' theory.
He clearly did. He picked it based on "leveling" but we're refusing to accept that because Reverie sounds better.
-
RE: Volume 90 Predictions/Discussion
Oh boy, there goes my remaining hope about Oda actually caring about romanizations.
Maybe it is we who don't care with his (now obviously) intended romanization.

Mary Geoise is still Mary Geoise and Levely is still Levely.
LOL, I thought this was your signature.

RE: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
Finally someone that can live up to AGOG's legacy!
-
RE: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
I thought the successive members joining referred to Orlumbus, Leo, Cavendish & co.

RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
I'm only being defensive on Oda's part because… well, I read Fairy Tail (why? I don't know) and I see some pretty offensive stuff for women on that manga. I don't see the same in One Piece.
-
RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
Well, there are WAY more male characters then female, so there are less examples. I think they were prominent enough to make an impact on the overall story. I also don't think there are that many bad examples. Except if you're talking about they being always wearing "sexy" clothes, then I agree with you. I'm only arguing about their personalities.
-
RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
The thing is, i get where they come from, actually. There are some misogynistic stuff in One Piece, but I also see a lot of strong female figures on the story. In fact, most of them were pretty badass. Bellemere? Olvia? Dadan? Otohime?
-
RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
Why was only saying that there's diversity with the female cast (and the same can be said for the male cast).
That are evil girls, good girls, weak, strong… I agree that many of them are hyper-sexualized, but I don't think their whole characterization revolves around that.I don't know what are you guys expecting... "ugly" girls who are on the good side? Good girls who are tomboyish?
-
RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
(But I agree that there are some cringeworthy chauvinistics moments… the last ne being that fight between Zoro, Monet and Tashigi.)
-
RE: What do you think of the way women are portrayed in OP?
Are you guys implying that all female characters are weak and "girly" (and that being "girly" is pejorative)?
Amazon Lily, Shakky, Hina, Catarina Devon, Whitey Bay, Rebecca, Robin, Kalifa, Monet, Baby 5, Lola, Bonney… we had all kind of female characters portrayed, I don't get why you guys are making a fuss about some stereotypical jokes that were probably made because he wanted the female versions of the supernovas to be somewhat the opposite of what they are.

RE: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
Actually it's the same reasoning behind the whole "Usopp wasn't really Straw Hats' shipwright".
Chopper and Usopp aren't really botanists, and we actually don't know much about this profession on One Piece world. But it was mentioned more than once, and there were hints about the importance of the plants (Adam Tree, Eve Tree, a possible connection between them, etc.).
I think this can be developed on the plot even further and my argument is way better than "because boobs". These ancient trees may be connected to the Void Century for all we know.I'm not saying A BOTANIST WILL DEFINITELY JOIN, I'm saying that the hypotethical new nakama MIGHT be a botanist.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I just wanted to throw it out there, I don't have any substancial proof about this being a required job on the Sunny and I don't even personally feel we're getting any new crew member. I just wanted to make the discussion more about actual theories than "I think Barto would have fun interactions" or "Rebecca won't join because she's a Nami clone".
-
RE: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
Well, people are grasping at straws and talking about hints even without much evidence, I'm just doing the same:
there was a botanist on an early Straw Hat Pirates concept, there was a flashback where Noland saved the Shandians using his botanist knowledge, we learned about the Adam Tree on Water 7 and we heard about it once more on Fishman Island. Now, there are a bunch of dwarves who were once visited by Noland and now are good botanists. I'm not saying a dwarf will join (I don't think we saw anything leading to any of them joining until now), but if someone needs a "job" to join the crew, I can see why a botanist might be this role to be fulfilled. -
RE: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)
Now a Botanist/Gardener is not a crucial job, nor is it plot-related or Luffy-oriented (he has never said anything about wanting a gardener). The only category that's up for debate is 'importance', because by definition, its very arguable. But I see 2 clear indication of why a gardener isn't important:
1). There was never any indication that the SH needed a good gardener (be it to take care of the orange tree, herb plants, or spices). And there wasn't even a panel where Ussopp is shown he is having trouble with his Pop-Green garden. So to be bringing it up now, out of nowhere, would be ridiculous.
2) All of the current SH's role contributes to the whole ship. Even Brooke (he provides entertainment). But a gardener will only benefits Ussopp. By this argument, even a cabin boy has more chance of getting in than a gardener.Actually, it was hinted through the series that a botanist has an important role ever since Noland's flashback. Besides it MIGHT be "plot-oriented", as you stated, because we still don't know much about de Adam Tree, except it being mentioned twice in the series.

RE: One Piece Volume Z confirmed as a present in One Piece Film Z
Wait, is this movie supposed to be canon?
 -
RE: New Logs announced
I second that!
I already saw the Mugiwara's but not Brook's… :/ -
RE: Post Your Pics, Part Trois
You shouldn't wear black clothes today lol.
(Science tells us so.) -
RE: Post Your Pics, Part Trois
Yeah. I remember the x-mas when I lived in Brazil. Sun, pool and a lot of Picanha (grilled meat)
Really cool.
Now, in Germany, is something like this. Snow, lovely home and founde.
Still cool.
Literally cool, eh? I can't survive in the cold, my hometown is hot as hell, so I'm used to it, lol.
And Shuhan1288, raise your glass!
Regardless my personal opinions about marriage in general I congratulate you, you must be really happy. =) -
RE: Post Your Pics, Part Trois
Some pics of me fooling around underwater with my family this Christmas:
! >!
I can't open my eyes in the water, so…!
Neither can my sister…!
or my father. lolNot a traditional Christmas, we don't care much about that stuff anyway. :P

RE: Post Your Pics, Part Trois
I dont like to take pictures, but I decided to post one picture of me with a friend of mine.
We were kinda drunk, that's the easiest way to make me smile to the camera (and you can see I couldn't open my eyes properly).!

RE: Post Your Pics, Part Trois
You're better looking than Russell, good for you! :D
-
RE: Last Two Nakamates (vol. 5)
Jinbe wouldn't be an exception. Chopper is also carrying someone else's will.
You should re-read his flashback, it's not like he wants to become a Panacea just to fulfill a personal achievement. -
RE: New Logs announced
No Excellent Scene of Brook?
No love for the Gentleman Skeleton… :/ -
RE: New Logs announced
By "The excellent scene of Brook" I mean those drawings like those the other Straw Hats had in earlier Log Books doing amazing poses. Even Vivi had an "Excellent scene" in her Log Book.
-
RE: New Logs announced
What about "The excellent scene of Brook"?
I love those images. -
RE: Volume 61 Prediction Thread
Short-haired Robin looks great, but I think he chose the one that would look more similar to the Robin we already knew instead this sexier one that looks more like a new character.

They are dead.
For the second time in Brook's case. -

I wanna see the recap pages!!
Is there a raw somewhere? -
RE: Databook: "One Piece Green"
Maybe Margaret will eat this Devil Fruit later in the series?
I hope so. -
RE: Is Zoro the First Mate?
At the very least, Zoro is first mate in all but name. Saying otherwise seems to be a fixation on needing official statements to confirm anything, regardless of how blatantly obvious it is
But once it is officially stated, then that's what it is.
-
RE: Is Zoro the First Mate?
Urouge's line isn't really like this according to some other translators. It would be something like "second in command". The guy that translated it as "first mate" is the same that keep spelling "Brooke" even when it was stated as "Brook" earlier.
And in the manga's recap section in the tankobons, Zoro's labeled as a "Warrior".
So why keep speculating? The manga says so, so it is what it is. -
RE: Last Two Nakamates (vol. 5)
@Cyan:
So people are just ignoring Luffy's whole "ten people thing".
16 characters of "Yup".
Edit: I wouldn't mind anyone joining, I just think it's unlikely for now, that's it. Maybe in FI, but the crew hasn't got there yet so… I just think this whole fanfiction is kinda dumb. There are good theories, but people tend to grasp on the most random things as if they were facts.
-
RE: Last Two Nakamates (vol. 5)
Jesus christ not this shit again.
There will be two new members. Two reasons for why:
- The Captain never counts himself in a crew. EVER.
- The Chapter titles signify that there will be two more members to meet Luffy's 10 crewmember count. (Zoro was "The First" and Brook was "The Eighth".
This is just an assumption. The crew may be complete as it is.
And I'd say that IF there will be more crewmember (a big IF, as the crew seems pretty complete by now - at least for the next arc) there will be just one, using Blackbeard crew as a parameter.
