Been trying to catch up on the anime lately, haven't touched One Piece since it all fell apart on me.
There are also apparently members of Gerusama who didn't know the group was still going…
I dunno.. I guess since I belong to the kind of people that care about animals (not everyone does, i respect people who don't, I understand their opinion whether it's because of the no soul argument, or not human/stupid argument, but it's not how I feel) so I feel betrayed that his death has been portrayed this way.. this was a freak accident, it wasn't nature fighting back, if it was nature fighting back, he would have died to a crocodile during a regular show like Siegfried and Roy (which was nature, because they caged animals), this was stingrays which.. like we've established rarely beyond rare kill people..
You seem to be misinformed about the events that lead to Roy's injuries… the tiger was not "fighting back" because it was a caged animal... the tiger was trying to drag Roy off the stage to safety as a mother cat would her cub. If that tiger had wanted to kill Roy, he would most certainly have been dead.
Anyone who's bothered to read what happened will know that Steve didn't die to a spiteful and dangerous animal, he died in a freak accident to a frightened animal. That's really all that matters.
He was a great guy... it's a shame his death had to be something so horrific.
Maybe if they didn't call themselves "Your #1 source for One Piece." =P
@Luffy28:
i feel so much better now thx.my friends think i'm wierd cuz i'm black and i love op
Anyone can like anime. =) I've had a number of African American friends who were into both anime and video games. Nothing strange about that at all.
One of them was pretty hard-core into RPGs specifically.
Most of the jobs on this site come to mind:
http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/dirtyjobs/about/about.html
I think of the jobs I've seen on that show, the ones that squicked me most was the alligator raising job, and the guys who make fertilizer.
Oh, and the guys who clean out sewers. Ick.
Golfball retrieval looked like it sucked pretty hard too.
And we love you :happy: Now go and do something for us dammit!pretty please :unsure::biggrin:
Flatterer. =P
^_^
I went to see family for Easter. I wasn't expecting to do anything for Easter, but I ended up being out all day.
What can you do, eh? I love my family.
Unfortunately Monty doesn't.
Aww.. I'm sure you're great! I love Guitar Hero… I'm not the monster my room mates are at it though >.>
You guys are adorable ^_^ I wish I were more into Full Metal Alchemist so I could better appreciate the work and detail that goes into these costumes... but in my opinion, I think both of you look awesome!
I still love your OP stuff more, but I'm heavily biased, and you two have the best Nami/Zoro costumes I've seen. _
They're expensive in the states. I went to a CON and found them for $2.49 each (sealed, new), but most online retailers charge $6+ (not including shipping) for the same tanko. That's almost as much as a VIZ SJ volume. :/
Yeah, I have the same problem. The local japanese bookstore charges 7.99 a pop. I bought a couple, but I've gotten the rest online through other stores. And… I have a friend who found me a bunch at 5 bucks each ^_^
They can be pricy to be sure. x.x
I know, but I'm not going to wait around for them. =P LQ works for me fine and when I do buy the GNs, the quality will be an extra treat.
Then why post to this thread if you 1) don't care and 2) don't read Null scanlations? No one's asking you to wait around for anything. =P You're fine with LQ, that's cool, and totally your choice.
I think scanlations are not so much around because of the wait for Tankos to come out, so much as waiting around, growing old, and possibly dying of old age waiting for Viz to catch up.
In fact, as far as the tankos go, I fully encourage anyone who likes OP to pick them up if they can.
I don't read NULL at all so I don't care either way. If I want HQ, then I'll buy the manga and send a bit of money to Oda. My little way of saying thanks to him for all his hard work. =/
shrug Reading scanlations doesn't suddenly mean you can't still do that. I still buy the tankos, and no, it's not so that I can scan them in =P.
It makes me happy to see some people do care about Null's scanlations. I'd kinda begun to think that no one cared.
The kind words are appreciated ^_^
I think it takes a lot of balls that they call themselves the "#1 fansubbing group for One Piece".
Other than that, I'll stick to Geru and K-F.
Well, you have this history of bashing tournements when you don't agree with an outcome. Honest, you really need to curb that. Some people take this very seriously.
No.. I think it's a windbreaker. The neck zips up covering the face. I have a work jacket that does that, but "All Weather Jacket" is probably not what you're looking for.
Actually, it might be a sweater…
Here, this is what it is... it's a type of sweater:
http://www.blueiceclothing.com/products/sweaters/berbersweater.htm
Do a search on "Fleece half-zip sweater pullover" to find more. There's some that zip lower down and have a sew line around the middle, just like Kaku's
@Daisuke:
Your right. It wont be bad. Its no big deal or something.
Sorry for the comment Konis.
Nah, you have a right to your opinion. I just didn't think you'd actually checked it out. They really aren't bad for a handful of kids. They render the songs fairly faithfully. A couple songs have different lyrics, but those were actually rewritten by Devo themselves.
And a little girl singing "Whip It" and making whipping motions is so wrong, but so amusing _
@Daisuke:
Now this just sucks…:urg: :annoy: :bang:
Devo is going to be kiddyfied?
Why? Did you listen? They aren't bad. The lead from the original Devo not only supports it, he directed the videos and has been helping them out. Heck, Devo hand-picked these kids to be their successors.
So.. why does it suck?
Devo, while a staple of the 80's music, was wasn't so awesome that they're totally above something like this. Devo LIKES the attention. A lot of people have all but forgotten who Devo is these days.
Heck, they even did two NEW Devo songs of their own to go along with the kids' stuff.
It's just my opinion… but I don't think it's a big deal. It's cute.
I'd like a kid version of Talking Heads and Duran Duran now, please.
Are you kidding me? That's great! Kiddie devo! They're singing devo songs… how disney is that? Not very at all... it's still devo's songs... and there's something just insanely wrong about kids singing devo songs o.o
The words are the same, just kids singing it. It makes me giggle actually. =) And I loved Devo in their time. And until I see where Devo is suing... I have to assume Devo's cool with it. The kids aren't hurting the songs, they're singing 'em mostly faithfully.
Edit - If you want to see something insulting to the memory... the New Monkees was a travesty... >.>
Almost every con I voluteered for monopolized a great deal of my time there, San Diego Comic Con especially wants you to work (They expected 4 - 6 hours of work, minimum each day). Granted, I was working for the convention itself, Funi might not be that bad.
I did usually have fun though =)
The first computer I had access to was an Apple ][c… from 1986 on. That very computer was finally given to me in 1992.
And then later replaced with a Centris 610 in 1994.
Auto Duel and Pirates Gold were two of the greatest games to be had on an apple ][c. _
Well, if he wasn't planning on doing this on a weekly basis, I'd say you were being an anal bastard, but since he wants to do it weekly like some kind of release, you have every right to protest the use of Null scans. Maybe you should let him if he says the coloring is done in conjunction with Null, giving them credit where credit is due.
If he was just colouring a panel or two for the fun of it, I wouldn't care. People do that all the time, and many of them have been really nice. That's not problem to me. But if he's wanting to do a whole release in colour every week, I'd just rather he didn't use Null's releases. Occasionally we do get a colourist to colour a page or two for the release… but I don't think we're in the market for someone to colour the whole chapter.
I'd rather you didn't use Null's scans… while you did the colouring, the cleaning and text was someone else's work.
But that's just me.
I'm not a big fan of popularity contests myself. It tends to make the folks who don't win (or aren't even nominated) feel bad.
That, and we really don't need to stroke any egos here. I'd love to not ever see polls for "OMG who's cool?!!" And yeah, that was an exaggeration, but that's how all popularity contests read to me =P
@Cap'n:
Yep.
I think this is because I'm black.
…
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that, or if you're joking... but to either, no one cares what you look like, and no, it wasn't funny.
Like ocean said, if you don't like what's being done here... move on. If it's not worthy of your attention, why even be here?
No, I really don't want an answer, but I'm highly recommending that you leave these tourny threads and not come back unless you plan to contribute in a civilized manner. If you're aiming to help them... great. But, thus far, many of your criticisms have been unhelpful and disruptive.
I'm telling ya, the place is fun if you find the right threads (hard as that actually is) or avoid the forum completely. ^_^;;;
… yes, I know it's supposed to be a forum... >.>
That's kinda sad and disappointing… Christopher Robin is the sole reason the stories even exist... what, being the creator's son and all.
It looks like a joke to me. I mean, it's completely incoherent. The lady's site reads like the blog of a 15 year old kid who dreams of making games but doesn't understand what would make a game "cool" short of what they, personally, think is cool.
Maybe it's real… but I dare not try the demo. Even Vib Ribbon was a better looking game.
@Seta:
Oh, Konis posting reminded me - The fishing game is cute and amusing.
But the forums are over all frightening.
I love the fishing.. and collecting stuff in the towns. You can make hats and flower boques and stuff with the junk/flowers/bugs in the towns now ^_^
I also like to hang out in the exchange buying inexpensive items and reselling them at a little more. ^^;; I just love the avatars and such, so I collect things to wear o_o
edit Sometimes I forget there's forums there o.o
I loved the movie… I thought it was pretty well done. I'm kinda lucky, I don't remember the books very well at all (I read them in grade school... which was.... so many years ago x.x) so it was a good story without me sitting there, picking out the differences.
I LOVED the effects. I've always been an effects whore though... and when I saw the griffons and centaurs, the movie owned my soul _
The Beastmen and Minotaurs were, also, awesome... _
I've met a few cool people there. I don't post a lot though. I post to the threads of a couple people I've come to like. I actually don't really post much at all outside of the GDC and a tiny handful of bookmarked charity threads.
The anime forum makes my head hurt, so I avoid it entirely. >.>
It's definately a fun game. I have a few freinds whom I visit, notably my fiance ^^ I've almost perfected my little character… I made Konis' dress as a pattern (Just something I made to resemble it) and she has the blue eyes. All I need is blonde hair and I'm set!! ^^
I can't believe it, no Nightcrawler. ;_; Alan Cumming went on record saying he'd love to do another film =(
Edit
From Alan's site, regarding X2 and X3:
In his first role immortalised not only on film but also in an action figure, Alan played the new addition to the original X-Men family: Nightcrawler, a German former circus performer whose superpower is teleporting. To achieve Nightcrawler’s look, Alan had to be in the makeup chair for up to four hours each morning! The film, directed by Bryan Singer, also starred Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Aaron Stanford. “I had never heard of the X-Men before I met Bryan to talk about doing this movie. I certainly had no idea who Nightcrawler was or how huge a thing being in this movie would be. The character is really interesting, the message of the film (tolerance of others who are different from us) was very timely and unusual for a Hollywood blockbuster, the real drag was having to spend four hours a day having two men poke my face. Then there were the harnesses for the tail and for flying, the feet, the hands – which made going to the loo a group effort, the teeth, the lenses, oh god don’t get me started. When I got the press reel of all my X2 TV interviews I realized that I had gone 'round the world just moaning on every talk show. Still, they’ve told me they can take at least an hour off the process for X3. And maybe I won’t have to wear the lenses. The producers actually told me that in the next movie lots of interesting things are going to happen to Nightcrawler, and they said they were sure I would like them to which I replied, “What, does he wear a paper bag over his head now?”
Guess not. =(
@Seta:
Nah, that's Omae and EGX XD They win the AP OTP (one true pairing) award! And I say this over myself and madgophermm5.
Hahaha, yes… ^_^
You rule _
I really don't know what SHS is supposed to be, speed scan or "real" scan =S I'm merely a cleaner that joined because I didn't get an answer for Null and wanted to test my abilites when it came to editing and cleaning.
I could find out why you never got an answer, we're actually in need of editors, so I'm unsure as to why you wouldn't have gotten a response of some sort. What do you go by in IRC?
@Cap'n:
That's kinda obvious…. It'd be pretty hard to put it in on accident.
Just thought I'd mention, because there seems to be some misconception that we do it because we're lazy, or forgot, or something. =P
@Mog:
Other than that, no complaints there. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong, but I noticed a distinct lack of not leaving ''nakama'' untranslated. That alone awards points. I'll be frank: Translation-wise, I consider this to be better than NULL's releases.
You do know we leave "nakama" untranslated on purpose, right? It's not because we forgot or anything, it's intentional.
That fifth one is the picture they used for one of the catcher sets. It fits together and looks a lot like that picture. ^_^ I've seen it a few times in some of the forums.
stares at the subs
WTF indeed o.o
if Gerusama + KF are friends and well happen to be they are enemies
wtf????
Really? Do THEY know this? o.O
Last I checked, K-F and gerusama harbor no illwill towards each other. I mean, I could be wrong… but I've never heard of such a thing.
By the same token, they are also not friends. shrug
Hmm… I guess it may very well be Lucci after all. Ch is always a K sound, while c is ch in Italian. So weird...
Of course, that would still be assuming he's Italian (While I've pretty much assumed everyone in this arc is Italian) but we may yet still be surprised. We haven't seen Oda spell it yet >.>
I thought "Lucchi" was pronounced "Loo-key" and "Lucci" was "Loo-chey."
You have actual Italian pronunciations for both these names somewhere?
"Lucci" seems to be the one most people are settled on, and I think that makes the most sense, since it's an Italian name and Oda based a lot of aspects of Water 7 on Venice.
"Lucchi" is also an Italian name.
Is there a chance we could stop bumping this thread when you guys have a new chapter? Start a new thread please, and let this one die.
@Battle:
I'd think it'd be a major pain in the arse trying to remove all those watermarks, plus you'd have to leave the majority of the Chinese sfx, ect. The Jojo scans are awesome quality, but probably not the ideal source for a speedscan group.
Not to mention in very poor taste. They watermark their pages for a reason.
And why does a speed scanlater need an hq? You could have had your speed scan released by now.
Weird… it's working for me. =( Is it still not showing up for you? I can maybe asking the admins what might be causing it. We did update a lot of our site recently.
Get back to me... if you're still checking this thread.
what's the meaning of this?
Protected just using a bad analogy. It's already been addressed.
