RE: Banning foreign IP addresses?
Is this verified? IE: Did you actually look at the web servers logs or do you run a web stats program? Or are you just assuming if someone is a guest they are from japan?
Personally, I never use cookies, or store passwords in my browser. So unless I want to post something on any forum, I'm never logged in and shown as a guest. I would imagine this is common. Especially with the recent warning of the bugs found in firefox and all java enabled browsers that can let web sites steal all your browsers passwords.
Anyways, the opening post seemed to indicate that no actual statistic where looked at. Nor has any post since mentioned any type of actually tracing of japan ip's etc. So do you know for a fact everyone on here as a guest, is (as you guys put it) Just a bunch of leechers. Like you even host the raws and people are downloading them on your bandwidth or something. Hell, you guys don't even get the raws or the spoilers. You just provide a place to post the links and discuss OP themes.
Personally I don't see how just forum admins would know where the traffic is coming from, unless you have shell access to the server logs, or a web traffic stats package was installed.
Just curious. Since the tone of the posts don't convey any certainty. More of a "it must be group X" that is the problem type attitude.

RE: Re: Lag in releases
you know I have always wondered but does
anyone know the history of gerusama?how they came to be?
why they split up?
etcI thought they were a really good group, besides small things that some ppl complained with the yellow font but thats who made them who they were.
as far as I am concerned they originally subbed the filler before water 7, then subbed the last episode of the davy back fight before balf got to finish. then got kinda close to Enies lobby before ADC slowly took over.
Gerusama started the group himself because he loved OP and at the time no one was doing the new releases. It was also a way for him to work on his english and japanese skills. After he did eps 219 all by himself and started to do 220, Cheezewiz joined him to help with doing After Effects and typesetting etc. Babyvash joined shortly thereafter to help with the typesetting, fonts, etc. Not sure where the timer joined in, as he never joined irc or any discussion groups. He only had contact with Geru. Can't remember when he left either, But I timed a few eps until we got a new timmer. There was also someone who helped Geru with the english wording, since he is from norway and english isn't his first language. But I don't remember her name. I think they released 10 to 15 episodes like that before I joined. Gerusama was a great guy who showed me what fansubbing was all about.
The group mainly fell apart because 1) there was every only 3-5 of us. And of that only Gerusama and myself where around regularly. I have a habbit or picking up and going travelling alot without notice. So that left Geru to struggle through most of it himself. After a while he also had other commitments that he wanted to do. So he took a few month break. He then tried to reform the group and get it going again. But by that time most of us had moved on to other things. So I think he just got tired of it and left to spend more time having a good time in RL. And since other groups where also starting to do the new releases (adc) it wasn't really a needed service anymore.
No idea, never heard from him again after he left. But the blame lies with everyone in the group. It was more we all let geru down then him just leaving.
As far as the forming a new group that Babyvash and Murasaki where pushing for seemed pointless to me. Since it would once again involve to many members (including myself) who where never around enough to make it worth while. Murasaki would have just replaced geru as translator, but all the other problems would have still been there.
Personally I don't bother doing fansubs anymore. If I can't promise consistent availability to a group to do whats needed, why waste their time and mine. Although I have been playing with the idea of doing up a web site to explain and teach all those interested in how to make fansubs. From AE and maya work, to encoding, timming, ass/ssa scripting, adding hardubs, etc. But who knows if anyone would be interested in it.

RE: Deepest Apologies from Staff
I hardly think having an opposing opinion is considered flaming/spamming. :I
Well seeing as there are only 2 sides to this. You thought it was funny, or you didn't. Just how many times can you post the same opion without it becomming spam?
While reading all the pages of this thread, it became apparent that alot of the people here post the same thing every page almost. So how many times do you need to express your opion on the same topic, in the same thread?
But whatever, I don't need or expect an answer, as I doubt i will ever bother to read it. I've expressed my opion of what I thought of another forum crash as a joke. And it seems this thread is about argueing if it was funny or not. Not expressing your opion on it.

RE: Deepest Apologies from Staff
@CurryGonzalez:
I'm just bored of these people who are whining all the time. I mean, it's humans you are talking about.
You are expecting them to be serious, mature and responsible all the time, even in April's fool day. If I would be them, I would have trash this forum full of ungrateful users that are complaining all the time and live a peaceful life.
Judge their sense of judgement? I say judge your own sense of humour.
I'm rather borred of these spam/flame posts by members like you. Just how many times have you posted in the thread now? I thought this was a thread for thoose who where annoyed about this bad taste joke to express their opions. Not to agrue with people who don't share your opions on the topic.
I read your opion on the topic, pages and pages ago. So why do you(and these others that have posted 10+ msg on this thread) feel the need to spam this thread with how you think everyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong?
The last few posts since I posted my opion(and the tone of this post as well) is exactly what I'm talking about when I say the level of this forum is slipping into the childish and immature community that most forums fall prey to.

RE: Deepest Apologies from Staff
Its truly the end of the world.
I guess to all the forum trolls that visit forums hourly or daily it was. To others like me who just drop in occasionally it was not.
Seeing as this forum seems to have problems every few months/weeks with either sql errors, host changes, crashes etc. I don't see how staging another forum problem is suppose to be funny. And the way it was handeled, and with all the posts from the immature users, it just further reinforces fears that this forum to is slipping into the childish and immature community that most forums fall prey to.
Just because someone say's sorry for a bad decisiion and is forgiven, doesn't mean that the faith in their judgement is not shaken. Like in all communities, the tone and actions are set by the examples of those in authority. So it comes as no shock after learning the admins mindset durring this incident, (and the idea that banning members is funny?) that so many members did and continue to do nothing but spam posts and flames.

RE: Deepest Apologies from Staff
A Joke? Are not jokes suppose to be funny? All this really showed to me is the level of maturity the admins here have if they find such a juvenile thing as even remotely funny.

RE: [ADC-Elites] One Piece 292
And I never got why sub groups never just made the opening in super duper high quality, and then plopped it onto the front(and the ending onto the end) of each episode, it should be easier than re-subbing and doing kareoke on everything.
Because the intro isn't always in the same place in the anime. Sometimes it is at the start, other times it's played after 1-2 mins of the anime. And once the karaoke is scripted, it just a matter of adjusting the ass/ssa scripts timming to resynch the karaoke to where it plays in the intro. Something that takes all of 1-2 seconds to do.
As far as ADC goes. How about you thank them for all the episodes you got to watch without any effort or work on your part. Rather then complaining that your not getting your free fansubs. What exactly have the people who are complaining contributed to the fansub community? Other then their whines and moans.

RE: Gerusama Episode problem
I was under the impression that most HDTV broadcasts were 24fps all the way through, although I could be wrong.
I have no clue what the frame rate is on HTDV streams outa japan are. I haven't bothered with trying to capture japan shows since FujiTV's channel was removed from the satilites international channels. That get sent to NA. But the HDTV white paper states HTDV streams are 60fps. 2x the old 30fps on analog streams.
I've been having the frame problem with the episodes from 232-239.
How can you send me this episodes? I really appreciate the big info and help, Hopeless ^_^; and everyone that post here to help out :). I didnt knew that Gersusama had 2 version of some episodes. The only episodes this was done to was 292-294. As a test by Gerusama to see about smoothing out the intro animations. It was only those 3 episodes and was stopped after them. As far as the episodes, private msg me and we can work something out. Or just wait, KF are at 220(next release) so it wont be long till they release those episodes.

RE: Gerusama Episode problem
You shouldn't need to adjust any of the default settings for the codec's and apps cccp installs. Is this happening for all epsisodes? or just certain ones?
There where a few episodes that Gerusama encoded at 60fps. So it might be that your pc just can't handle that frame rate for thoose few episodes. If that is what the problem is, i still have both the 60fps and the 30fps versions for those few episodes, and can easily send em to you.EDIT: 232, 233, 234 of Gerusama's releases where encoded at 60fps. Both 30 and 60fps versions where released, but you might have the 60fps version, and that frame rate needs a fair amount of cpu/gpu power. If your pc has problems with hdtv resolutions and framerates, it will have a problem with 60 fps encodes as well. (HDTV streams are 60fps, but are usually cut down to 25/30 fps when encoded, even if they keep the higher resolutions.)
And before people comment, the raws and htdv raws that are at 120fps, are not a true 120fps, it's just padded to 120fps to remove the problems of encoding a vfr source to a cfr codec(variable/constant frame rate) and trying to fit 2 different frame rate sources into 1 container, while retaining smooth animation. IE, the cgi(endings/intros/certain cgi'd effects) are made at 25fps, while the main animation of the show is encoded at 30fps. Anyways, theres a huge difference in a true 60fps/120fps encode and a file that has been padded to 120fps.
