My doctor has been suggesting for some time that I get off the medication considering how far I've come. And the lowering has been going on for some time as well.

I won't settle back into "that" depression that got me on the medication in the first place. My doctor wouldn't have suggested lowering the dose and forgoing the stuff if that was the case.

Jitteriness is still there, but I've got some solid advice, so there won't be any big problems. My body just need to adjust.

So assuming I'm reading this right, you've been lowering the size of the doses over time and are now getting off them altogether? That's good.

To clarify, I wasn't saying that you needed to be on pills forever and ever and ever. I've just seen too many people start taking them, do well, then abruptly stop taking them (thinking they don't need them anymore) and wonder why they're depressed again.

You're supposed to wean yourself off them, not quit cold turkey. You're going through withdrawal, and probably gonna settle back into your previous depression when you get used to that anxiety again.

Depression isn't like the flu. If you could just take some pills and then stop when the symptoms weren't there anymore, there wouldn't be any need to take them in the first place.

Ask your doctor about lowering your dosage when you see her. It's something you have to get used to bit by bit rather than all at once.

I like the fact that Aoyama got his time in the limelight, but it felt like it rushed to the "And then Aoyama realized his insecurities were all in his head and that he's just a member of Class A as everyone else! :)))" end of his character arc while skipping the elaboration on it in the first place. Like, we know he's a coward who overcompensates for it by being flashy, but we never got that insecurity really brought up in the first place; so it's like we got a solution to an unestablished problem and it lacks satisfaction because of that.

Though Aoyama's grimace in that one panel when the exercise ended might indicate the pep talk didn't do it's job. Which would mean it's only just beginning of his development. That'd be nice.

That aside, that bird swarm with Tokoyami in the middle was pretty cool.

As for Vigilante:

Furuhashi was obviously trying to mirror MHA's first chapter (MC's life sucks -> Hero aspirations but no self-confidence -> important-person-to-the-story's in trouble -> MC about to leave -> the begging-for-help look makes him stay -> tries to help but fails -> COOL BUFF HERO MAN comes and saves the day -> MC told he can be a hero), but it lacks Horikoshi's grounding and shambles from point to point without considering the implications of the characters' actions. Also it's weird how Pop Step was left hanging in the air at the end - not even a line of dialogue then bouncing out of there? Also those villains were a train wreck Jesus Christ (at least there was an effort to make them more than Random Villain Group A, though; so there's that).

Knuckleduster is pretty great, though. And since this was only the first chapter, hopefully it'll develop in a better direction (especially since it's from a more lawless down-n'-dirty POV). I'd like to see how the trio's powers work together in tandem; Koichi and Pop Step could easily be speedsters in their own ways when they gitgud.

Kaminari using the right hand rule to fire his electricity was a pretty nice touch.

It could just be a double meaning. He punches things and his hero persona is like that of a stereotypical boisterous American.

There's isn't really any way to convey both at once in English, sadly. And saying "That 'American' man" just sounds weird.

I hope we get an America/trip-to-another-foreign-country arc. It'd be neat to see how other countries reacted to quirks. Plus we could totally get a prom arc.

And seeing as how U.A. is the best hero school in the whole WORLD, it wouldn't surprise me if it had multiple campuses around the globe.

Alternate definition of "meriken" (explicitly without the "a") is fist/meathead. I went with that one because evidence points to AM being Japanese (named Toshinori, went to U.A. as a kid) and there's no sense in shooting myself in the foot later with a throwaway line that could potentially misidentify his nationality.

That makes sense. Plus it fits anyway.

On a tangential note: Are there any differences between the nuances for (a)meriken and amerikajin? I'm used to only seeing the latter.

And that someone definitely isn't Scarlett Johansson. Who always comes off sort of wispy. Motoko has a pretty physical firm presence even throughout the different versions, whether it's goofy manga Motoko, serious humorless movie Motoko, or the more normal TV mixed personality of the TV one.

Same thing with Rinko Kikuchi (who I'm only mentioning because she's the only actress I ever see being considered in ScarJo's place when people talk about it). Neither of them are very imposing.

Are there really no better Asian-American (or just fluent-English-speaking Asian) actresses out there? Household name recognition aside, I find it hard to believe that there are NONE that would fit the bill.

On the white side… maybe Uma Thurman? It's been awhile, but I remember liking her in Kill Bill. Though she's 45 (which is granny age in Hollywood years) and I don't think she's had any action roles in the past decade.

I wouldn't care that Motoko is white if they got an actress that actually fit the part better appearance-wise.

Something looks really off about her in that picture (putting aside the fact that that hair is ugly as sin on her). She's too… pixie-faced, I think is what she'd be described as? Mary McGlynn's Motoko really set her as someone who would have a more mature(?) face imo, but that's just me.

Pretty sure they chose her because 1) Name recognition, and 2) Previous action girl roles. Which isn't terrible in itself, but it'd suck if she treated it like she was just acting as Black Widow again.

I don't think Rinko Kikuchi would be a good fit either for the same appearance reasons (though she'd look better overall). Also there's the fact that Motoko doesn't have a noticeable accent and hers really bled through in Pacific Rim. She'd have to go full-throttle on the voice training to make it sound good.

As for the movie itself: I remember fans of Scott Pilgrim liking the movie and the movie flopping anyway. Which is really sad, but it shows that core fanbase for these kinds of things things by itself isn't going to turn a profit. Things are going to be changed to appeal to the lowest common denominator; which blows, but what can you do.

Still waiting for the day race-bending stops being "necessary", though.

I never got to see the raws. Did Endeavor say something about Americans or did he just call All Might a meathead (or equivalent)?

Reading the WSJ translation, I don't get why Bakugou would make that kind of face, he got angry when All Might implied that he was scared, but when All Might puts his hand on him he wasn't saying anything that might be implied as an insult, so.. something more inocent? as in "my hero is touching me!!"

He might just not like being touched. He doesn't exactly go out of his way to initiate physical contact unless he's fighting.

For me it's Jyushimatsu > Karamatsu > Osomatsu = Choromatsu > Ichimatsu > Todomatsu

Todomatsu's usually the lowest-ranked Matsu in the popularity polls, but Osomatsu's dropped to only being just above him now.

I think the main reason people don't care for him is him is that he hasn't really gotten any episodes focusing on him since the beginning. No real delving into his psyche since then.

It's always fun seeing a manga to it's end when you've been there since it first started.

The ending was alright on its own (though Kayano's an afterthought to Nagisa? Probably not meant to be that harsh, but what?). It would've been better had I actually cared about most of the students, though. I wish we we could've gotten more focus on the non-main ones.

A comedy anime that's a psuedo-sequel to Osomatsu-kun, a gag manga that ran starting back in the 60s (which had 2 anime - 1 in the 60s and one in the 80s). It commemorates what would have been Fujio Akatsuka's 80th birthday. It stars a group of sextuplets living The NEET Life on a daily SoL basis (said SoL being significantly wackier than the term implies).

It's pretty great. It's mostly stand-alone comedy skits (including random AU ones), but once in awhile there's an episode that's meant to hit you right in the feels.

There're only 2 episodes left for this season (which will be 25 episodes total), but it's been doing so well that we're pretty much guaranteed a second season. So it's not too late to make a thread.

You should binge-watch it if you get the chance.

Also it has a spinoff manga.

Bakugou already had his origin chapter and it didn't indicate villainy at all, so it wouldn't make sense for him to go Sasuke or turn into a villain without brainwashing and/or Noumuing (and even then he'd go back to being a good guy at some point).

What I want to know is why he didn't struggle at all (in he few seconds he had). Sure, Dabi had a hand on his neck; but you'd think after being stuck in a tiny ball thing knowing full well people're trying to kidnap him, he'd try and at least 'splode his way out.''

Maybe he's super genre savvy (we know he's smart, at least), and he's gonna go along with it to avoid aforementioned brainwashing and/or Noumuing. The villains just think he's a little edgelord as it is. If he gets their trust, he can easily just get some info and peace out when he gets the chance.

All aboard. We're on Kacchan's ruse cruise now.

! It'd be funny if their process of "getting him to trust them" involved having to kill one of his old friends. That's literally the easiest way he could get taken back by the heroes since all he'd have to do is give them just enough openings to take him down.

I'll tell you what the protesters ultimately did. Instead of sitting through some Q&A they made a lot of noise and blew this up into a bigger story than it would have been if it was a quiet campus event. I would not have heard of this idiot unless the protesters did what they did. They got the media attention and focus which would have otherwise been kept to a minimum.

Well they sure got it attention, but not in a good way.

You have a speaker at a lecture. There are also some protesters. The protesters don't like what he says. Part of what the speaker says is that these protesters don't want to hear opinions contrary to their own. The protesters start shouting - not even anything about how he's wrong; they just yell "THIS MAN REPRESENTS HATRED", smear paint on their faces (and get it on other things and people), and march out. It doesn't make those protester look like anything but children and only helps the speaker.

I recommend actually watching the video when you get the chance. It's pretty funny.

There are still options to weigh. I've been lightly going back and forth between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders for months now. Right now I don't have to make a decision and can just watch them debate and iron my decision out until eventually I have to put that vote in. In the meantime I'm leaning Bernie, if that wasn't obvious, but an eventual White House accession by either one is ultimately fine with me.

I like Bernie's ideas more, but I have a hard time seeing him actually getting them through congress. Hillary seems like she'd be better at muscling her way through.

On the other hand, the directly-manipulating-media-articles bit leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

But hey, whichever one wins is getting my vote in the general election.

Even if you don't like Hillary, she's still the lesser of two evils compared to whoever's gonna win the GOP primary. (I almost want Trump to get there, just to see how the ensuing media-manipulate-off would go.)

If she wins the primary, it's either voting for her to keep the GOP candidate out of the president's seat (like with Romney and McCain when Obama was running), or wasting your vote on a 3rd-party candidate. Or voting for the GOP candidate to ~MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN~ I guess but they're not making a really good case. Which really sucks since a choice shouldn't be so one-sided.

(Man, when is the GOP going to get a good candidate again? It'd be nice to actually have to put some thought into weighing your options on who to vote for instead of just being like "DON'T VOTE FOR THAT GUY!!! HE'S THE BAD GUY!!!" and going for the opposite choice by default.)

This chapter just reminded me of what Bleach could've been had Kubo not lost his motivation after SS. It's more depressing than anything.

Like, imagine this chapter with better paneling and proper buildup. Where these rock things were significant and not only mentioned just now. Where Chad staying behind to take care of them while Ichigo went off to save the day actually meant something because otherwise they would run out of time. Where Uryu staying behind actually meant something because he's a rebelling quincy and has a very high chance of dying.

It's. So. Frustrating.

Also 5 bucks says that Ichigo's gonna die and Orihime's gonna bring him back with time rewinding powers or whatever.

Isn't the only reason people are voting for him in those preliminary polls because he's the one who every news station is talking about? A lot of people just go with whoever's the most recognizable and don't put any more thought into it.

He might as well keep spouting BS since that's what everyone clamors to report on. He'll get the nutters, the people who vote republican regardless of who's running, and anyone somehow out-of-touch-enough to know who he is (over everyone else) without really grasping what exactly he's planning to do. Then it's a gamble to see if everyone else'll turn out to the ballots in droves to stop him, or if they'll just laugh and not bother since "It'll never happen anyway".

Though to be honest, I still don't think he's serious about wanting to actually become president. He seems more like That One Kid who spouts off increasingly racist/whatever-else-ist BS just to see how far he can get until with it before getting reprimanded because he can. It's not like he has anything to lose if he doesn't make it.

And since there wasn't any in-breeding through the Iida family lineage (I hope), how has the engine quirk changed generation by generation and varied by siblings in each one? How did Iida's mom influence the quirk? (We don't know her quirk yet, right?)
