Rorenoa Zoro: He's my favorite character. I think he'll always be. When he doesn't do a lot for a time (like now) others tend to get close to him, but I still always put him first. He's just pure badassery. I know many are not entirely happy with how he turned out post ts, but I couldn't care less. I still love him. If anything, he became even more badass. And I actually have to admit, I do like the more serious characters way more than the funny ones. Least of all the ridiculous once. (Reason I never liked Franky!)

Nico Robin: Staying with the Straw-hats, she's my second favorite SH and favorite female in OP. I also really like Sanji, Luffy and Nami… But I love history, and when I was young, I wanted to be an archeologist myself. What can I do?

Sir Crocodile: I can't really explain it. He's my favorite Villain and favorite Shichibukai. I guess I like the badass once, but I only really liked him, when Impel Down started. Only when I rewatched Alabasta afterwards did I start really liking him. Guess when I was younger I just didn't care for Villains or Antagonists that much. Still don't for the most part... Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing bad guys/ former villains: I really like Dofla, and Buggy... and I surprisingly found myself loving Caesar Clown... But I never really cared for most of the early villains, not even Rob Lucci or Eneru. Croc on the other hand is just awesome. Especially since he's more of a antihero/Antagonis/don't really know where he's going kind of guy... Speaking of Caesar:

Caesar Clown: Yeah... As soon as WCI is said and done and we know where he's going, I'm still stubbornly putting him into my Top 10. I'll quite certainly downgrade him later, but at the moment I very much care for him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those who wants him for Straw hat (at least not anymore), but I still demand that he'll be saved and not left to rot with an angry Big Mom! I worry for him and the worries keep him very prevalent in my mind, even if we haven't really seen him for a while.

Smoker: I always loved him. Since his first introduction. There was a time, he was my number two, very very very (sometimes to) close to Zoro. He lost a bit post ts... I'm a bit disappointed in how weak he seems to be... and hin his new style honestly. I liked the wild white short hair better than his new military style. Also thought the whilder hair made him look more like the rebellious marine he's supposed to be. I still like him though... Or I still have hopes in him.

Eustass Kidd: I immidiately liked him in sabaody. Favorite Supernova (aside from Zoro and probably Luffy). I'd just hope we'd see more of him. I also think he should start showing us some feats. I mean I can't just believe he's as powerful as Luffy without seeing some proof. Plus I'm really worried for him. Yeah yeah... Sure he's not going to die... I'm still worried.

Iceberg: hahaha... I don't know.... when I rewatched Water 7 a few years ago, I just started loving him. And I never stopped.

(To complete my top ten, the other three would probably be Nami, Luffy and Mihawk... but that varies from time to time.)

I'm not trying to be a Weevil fanboy, we haven't seen enough of him, but from what we know he will tip the scale to whatever side he ends up and how he's going to end up on that side will probably be a fun story.

Yeah. I'm probably unfair. I have to admit, the further the story progresses the more difficult it is for me to be really interested in newly introduced characters. Especially when they don't have much going for them to intrigue me, and as troglodyted pointed out, so far he doesn't show much - aside from dumb brutality. The think is, I'd also much rather see a known character tip the scale against Kaidou, than someone I don't know. His whole introduction just seemed odd to me.
Especially as a Shichibukai because I really think we're past the point were shichibukais are major villains. So I can't see him as a villain, but as I said, if he's introduced to be an ally, I'd much rather have a known character… I just don't care for him.

On the other hand, I very much care for Kidd, so I think it would be great for him (or Smoker) to get a chance to show they are still strong, since I think both of them have to finally proof, that they are not just remnants of what was once a rival to Luffy. And Weevil would be perfect. I very much think, that's not the road Oda wants to go - why else introduce him as Whitebeards 'son' if not to use him for something bigger... But as I said... I don't really care for him at the moment.

Just stumbled upon a Weevil Discussion video. And am I the only one who really doesn't care for the guy? He has no place in the show (at least not now) as an ally or as a villain… I still hope, he's just their to be fodder for either Smoker or Kid or whoever to give them a kill and show us how powerful they are... That way he'd at least serve a purpose I could understand.

So, well… I'll just put it in hear I guess...
These are actually no real theories, just mere Ideas regarding Croc ^^ I've been rewatching the first Arcs lately and some things did come to my attention, which I didn't see today.

I think since Impel Down their have been many discussion, wether Sir Crocodile might actually be a woman, and I agree to a degree, though I don't really like the idea. To me it seamed, as if he would hate Ivankov and be in the same moment emberrased... So on one hand, it would fit, on the other, it wouldn't explain the hate. It would also not explain the hate he had towards Crocodile. So I think their is more. In fact, I think Crocodile was betrayed by someone, possibly a close friend, comrade or ally. This could be directly or indirectly tied to Whitebeard, I don't know.... However the reason I think this, is because Crocodile was talking an aweful lot about trust during the Arabasta Arc. Starting at Rainbase, where he stated that trust ist the "most useless thing in the entire world", later on during his first fight with luffy, he is talking about it again: "Those who conspire with others, all die because of it..." Then finally before and during the last fight, he is naming trust among the things he stole, he say's he would forgive Robin, because he never trusted anyone to begin with and finally talks a lot to Luffy about why he is doing all this for his friends, and if he would go on doing it, even if he died... To me this all adds up to crocodile being betrayed some time in the past...

Shame, that ties aren't possible anymore would have loved, to let them both pass. Thus, I've got to make a choice. And this is really hard…

Weeell I actually prefer Cats, but… If it comes to Dryish vs. Fuji... To be honest, I don't understand this whole Fujitora hype. I mean he seems to be a far more sympathetic Admiral than Akainu, plus he is blind and strong, but he basically hasn't done anything, besides beating the sh... out of law...

I got to admit, that I like both equally.
Though Dryish is right, and I as well think, most of the conflicts in Norlands Flashback were caused by stubborn or thoughtless decisions, i still like Norland. I think Norland just overestimated the Shandians bondages to their nature and gods, while he absolutely underestimated their ability to forgive. Still the whole Skypeia arc was based on such misunderstandings and Calgara and Norland turned out to become the first and last for about 200 years to overcome those. Sure out of the two friends I always prefered Calgara. But well however, Calgara is out - so there's only Norland left.

Rayleigh again is a great Character, but it's true that he until now lacks his own scenery or arc. Sure there is this epic Introduction in Sabaody, him kicking Kizaru and swimming through the calm belt, but that's basically all there is, and during all of this he never was more than a minor character. I mean that doesn't lower his epicness, but his memorability…

Well, for the question of the more manglaze... I think I have to do something banal and just vote the one with the more memorable looking. That's the man with the onion on his head. Kind of hard to explain for those, who don't speak german, but there's a german carnival-song about those with the onion on their heads. And well... Voted Norland

There's no way I could vote for Perona in this. The itroduction of Kid in Sabaody was just epic! Even though it's a long time ago, but then his intro in the new world was also great.
Kid is one of the few characters considered more dangerous by the government than luffy, and the only former rookie with a higher bounty than him! Also he is kind of a real pirate not one of those actually good guys, who just dream of becoming the king, also none of the bad guys who laugh about those who dream. He's an evil pirate, who seeks for One Piece as much as Luffy does!

Speaking about statistics and numbers, I did a complete ratinglist based on all tournaments from 2009 so far(didn´t find anything about 2005 and 2006). On the picture you can see the top 20 after 2009,2010,2011,2012 and the current ratinglist after the prelims.

I used the elo formula with 500 instead of 400 as constant and the numbers of votes in the match divided by 2 as K-factor. Also tried other different things for the K-factor, like a constant number or votes divided by voters multiplied by a constant, lol… but using the number of votes seems to produce the least error. Note that number of votes is not the same as number of voters and that Characters(some of them as teams) which have very few matches are most likely less accurate rated or such which are seeded.

How to interpret the list: Difference of 50 = 55.73%, 100 = 61.31%, 200 = 71.53%, 300 = 79.92%, 400 = 86.32%, 500 = 90.91% expected score and so on or simple: expected score of charA = 1 / (1 + 10^((ratingB - ratingA)/500)). If you like the idea or have suggestions feel free to share your thoughts, the goal is to make an accurate ratinglist for characters.

I've got to agree with DarkFalcon. Zoro is much more than just a pure bad-ass-character... what itself would be a reason to vote him xD Honestly his Bad-Assery was the first reason he became my most favorite One-Piece-character. But the more time passed, the more I loved him because of other traits, since there are loads of Bad-Ass-Characters in the Series, and that alone is not enough anymore. He is willing to sacrifice himself for his friends, and I not only think about the thing with Kuma on Thriller Bark. There were plenty of situations, when he tried to save his friends, like Usopp or Chopper. Though he always seems to be an idiot, in important situations he keeps calm, and comes up with good ideas and plans. By the way, there are not many chars in the crew that keep calm in almost every situation. Just Robin and him. Since Brook and Franky joined, he is not the oldest guy anymore, but still appears to be the most mature, what's only one of the reason, the crew can't abandon him. I don't want to go on like this, Zoro surely has his weaknesses, which is the reason, he is not my MOST favorite character anymore... However he occasionally saved the life of my most favorite character right now: Smoker!

Yeah go Croc! I'm pretty surprised! He's doing quite well against the one SH that keeps on kicking my favorite chars for the last years… Yes, I know, there is still a lot possible to happen but let's just enjoy this moment ^^ awesome campaigning btw.

I feel really sorry for Bepo, and for all his lovely supporters, who do a really good job campaigning.. But honestly! It's Bepo vs. Sir Crocodile. One hand, there's a bear, who is, yes I know, awesome, and cute, and funny and everything, but at least, it's just a bear… the other hand, there is Sir Crocodile, one of the coolest, most Badass chars in One Piece, the greatest sandman all over the universe and he - above all - looks great and is a former shichibukai and he's evil... Thus ... Sorry Bepo, but no chance!

Wah… that's a tough decision to make.... I just can't make up my mind. It turns every three seconds, every new post i read here...

On the one hand, there is Kuma, a bear, that is a shichibukai AAAND a member of the revolutionary army. A guy who saved the straw hats in one of his last moments. Somebody who gave away everything, the control over his body, his mind, his soul - I don't know what else. Somebody who ordered Vegapunk to write in his program, that he shall protect the sunny, even after his "as good as" death... I mean this is amazing! Kuma is amazing. But he doesn't really exist anymore. Today, everything what's left are beam-shooting-PX's... Yes beams are cool... but .... that's it... nothing more.

And there is Kizaru, who still is vize-admiral and didn't do anything good at all... But he still is Kizaru, an bizarre guy, with striped trousers and a amazing devil fruit. And he rides cannonballs xD He's just funny

So okay.. I think it's a tie I will vote for the guy with the grater beam ...
And this is... KIZARU, who can not even shoot beams, but turn in a beam himself!!
