I noticed that 283 and 284 is available in a high resoultion raw (1280x720). I just wondered if anyone knows if One Piece will be available in this format from now on, or if it was just these episodes?

OP has been airing in HD for awhile now. As for whether the raws are availible that way, it's all up to the people who post them.

I can't exactly speak for ADC here, but I have heard in the past that they would most likely re-sub the older episodes using the HD raws.

If they're availalbe, why don't use them now? I'm sure there would be no complaints if they used those raws instead…

There are 1280x720 HDTV raws available for episodes 261-278 and 283-284. These were released by a person called D-CX who seems to be the only source for HD raws. You can find them in a lot of torrent search engines just by searching for D-CX, although there aren't many seeds for the earlier ones. As far as anyone knows, there are no existing HD raws for 207-260 or 279-282. K-F has said they plan to use the HD raws when they get to 261, but I'm not sure about ADC. The HD raw usually comes out a day or two after the SD raw, so if they started using the HD raws, it would take longer to release episodes. However, if they were able to go back and rerelease previous episodes in HD at some point, that would be wonderful, as there is an enormous improvement in image quality.

That would be nice to see the releases in the higher res. Its not like it would really take that much longer, seeing how the long part of the process is translation. You can get the low quality one, use that for translation and timing, and then use the hd one when encoding. Same thing can be said to redoing the older episodes, the timing and translations are already done, only the encoding would be left, and that isn't super time consuming. There are software out there where you can batch that and let it go over night. shrug

Oh ok. But they should use the HD raws when they're available, if it won't delay the release. They could i.e use the regular one for doing the subbing and then use the HD-raw for the encode if that should air before they release the episode, since it's not like you need to resub the whole episode if you change the raw. And is it impossible to find the HD raws on Winny? I can't imagine that one guy being the only source for HD-raws…

When KF reached the 207 mark where the episodes were in Widescreen or HD instead of off DVD's KF ended up subbing both versions instead of just sticking with 1 all the way.

Most of the reason HD isn't always used.. a) Not everyone has a computer that can handle it b) it slows down even high level computers when encoding, c) it takes twice as long to encode d) timing can be off unless the timer has 2g+ of ram.. I could go on.. but these are just my experiences.. and then people who don't have machines that can handle the file, tend to bitch and complain that they want a 704x396 encode instead.. total pain in the ass.

I don't really mind the current quality but I couldn't complain if they did decide to use the HD ones the higher quality the better.

It's too bad ADC can't do HD releases, since the difference between a regular encode and a HD encode is so big. Since I've never tried subbing with a HD raw, I don't really know how difficult it is, but I'm sure you would make it work out if you gave it a try :p

My computer drags to a halt whenever I try to watch those 1280x720 things. And my computer isn't even that old. Honestly I don't care if I can see Franky's eyelashes clearly or not.

Since I've never tried subbing with a HD raw, I don't really know how difficult it is, but I'm sure you would make it work out if you gave it a try :p

I dont know what a shameless plug is but i was just trying to bring some support to the HD one piece because many people don't know how awesome it is. Anyways, I offered to distro the HD files from ADC. Any news anybody?
