GOOD JOB SONY
Anyone who attempts to buy a Sony launch product is a dumbass.
You KNOW there's going to be shortages.
You KNOW there aren't going to be good launch games.
You KNOW there are going to be hardware issues.
You KNOW it won't be worth the wait and price just to have it collect dust on your shelf until decent games come out.
I'm not sure why everyone is obsessed with the launch issues. They're bound to happen to Sony. The only thing I would be concerned about is if they didn't reach their projected units by next year. THAT would be a big issue.
The 'bigger launch' is only a cock-measuring contest.

agreed, tries to remember Lauch title for PS2 that was good….......:blink:

Personally I really liked Midnight Club. The jumps MADE the game. It wasn't a Zelda or Mario though. Just something to waste time.
Even Toshinden sucked balls. The concept was neat but what a dumb launch title. I DID enjoy Twisted Metal but I can't recall if that was launch.
Regardless Nintendo has FUN launch games down even though they missed it with Cube.
Super Mario World and Mario 64 were KILLER. Although Zelda is going to be the greatest thing ever, I don't NEED to have a launch Wii though. That I can wait for.
But when I was a kid, without Mario World or 64, I would have gone mentally insane.
Well, if there is a shortage of consoles then doesn't that mean someone who does get it at launch can then sell it for a hell of a lot more cause theres none left at the time?

Or they can get beat up in the parking lot

The last part is totally QFT.
Yeah I don't understand it either. I was trying to figure out my friend's logic since he knows there are going to glitches and hardware problems along with a sub-par launch list, but it just seems that there are those that will just wait out in the cold for days on end just to say "I got one first" when the world as a whole doesn't give a flying fuck.
"BIGGER LAUNCH" isn't a cock measurement, far from it, when you have a demand for something, yet can't supply it, Its bullshit
Its always good to have a bigger launch supply, because its basically a battle of, who ever is left standing, When you're sold out, it can take Days to weeks to MONTHS to restock and reship, thats a good 50-100 mill that could of been made, And selling out isn't a good thing when you only have a Gaming industry equvilent of a Bag full
And its a even bigger issue because Sony said they had all of the issues ironed out, But i don't know why i consider that to be an issue, since what sony says shouldn't be taken with a grain of salt these days
D:
but if next year they don't hit there quota..
Dun dun dun
D:
yet can't supply it, Its bullshit
Then almost every company ever is bullshit.
And its a even bigger issue because Sony said they had all of the issues ironed out
No they didn't. Didn't you get the tone of their last conference? They're fucked. The only thing they THINK they can do is ship out the target of 4 Million units by end of the fiscal year. And they don't even know if they can do that.
If launches meant something then XBox should long be dead.
When you're sold out, it can take Days to weeks to MONTHS to restock and reship
Yeah uh, buuuuut it won't be months -_-; All the retailers on this side of the Pacific are saying they expect new batches in shortly after the initial sells out.
Launches are pointless and only good for bragging rights that ultimately mean nothing.
Then almost every company ever is bullshit.
Wait what? Where is this, Last gen, and current gen
Launches were well stocked
Their were no issues with the DS launch
nor the PSP launch
If anything a launch means alot to Nintendo Since they profit off of everything
but it should also matter to sony Due to the fact that they're losing money
Xbox360, well the demand for that (no offense to those who own a 360 i want one to) wasn't that high, they're still having issues pushing those over the shelf
i mean they're stacks of them in gamestores im going to
And in walmarts
D:
Yeah uh, buuuuut it won't be months -_-;
When the 360's were sold out when they first came out (Most stores only have 10 units at most over here)
it took a month and a half to get them restocked
D:
and money burns a hole in my pocket…
=(
Wait what? Where is this, Last gen, and current gen

You're limiting this to video game companies? I'm talking about every company….ever.
And if Sony had plenty of PS2's then why I spend an eternity tracking one down. Yes, I bought a launch PS2 and it took forever. Never again.
but it should also matter to sony Due to the fact that they're losing money
Uh, Sony can afford to lose money. In fact, I can't remember hearing good financial news for Sony. They have their hands in so many different fields when one sags they just pump more into it from somewhere else.
Again, I'm not talking about 360. I mean XBox. Only after Halo did people start to look at it. And that didn't have ANY effect in Japan.
Launches = Nothing
Games = The World
Uh, Sony can afford to lose money.
Employees can't 7% of them, fired
10,000 people
and they have babies
Think of the babies
Successful launches
Are basically baby steps
it isn't a good thing if you fall down stairs taking those baby steps
sure it might not injure the head
but it can shake things up
(worst anology ever)
Can't think of a good argument
stomach…ugh
Employees can't 7% of them, fired

That's 'life'. It's happened in my own family countless times. Adults aren't incapable of finding another job. This isn't an ethics discussion. Business is business no matter what company it is.
Again, launches mean little to nothing. Especially to Sony, a company which has had remarkably tight (unit-wise) launches with weak titles. That doesn't mean everyone and their brother won't have a PS3 4 years from now.
If anything I expect the PS3 news to get worse and worse. Units overheating. bugs. Problems with the store. Even people getting ripped off (oh wait, they're paying 600 for the system in the first place).
Naturally this will occur to a marginally small amount of customers but 'the squeaky wheel'. There will be plenty of outcry (as there is now) but when games that are actually good start coming out and the price starts to tip-toe down the stairs the constant pouring over tiny details that don't matter in the big picture will have been forgotten.
Just in time for the next system launch.

Anyways, its not really just Sony that have problems with launches, on launch day (well in the UK) there was shortages on the DS and the 360, and I wouldn't be suprised if the Wii is no different, face it, launch stock are almost never enough for the amount of people who want the consoles.
Naturally this will occur to a marginally small amount of customers but 'the squeaky wheel'.
Yeah, I'm thinking back to the 360 launch when the number of borked units was relatively small but all the Microsoft haters blew it out of proportion.
Microsoft handled it very well, and their customer service was superb. Since I expect the same kind of things to happen with Sony, the early adopters had better hope their customer service is as good.
Dont some companies only lauch a few systems, so when there are bugs to it? They wouldnt have 2 many people returning and they work out the bugs from the few that was launched?
That's reeks of conspiracy but it's technically not a bad idea IN THEORY. However admitting to and/or enforcing such a policy would be awful PR for the company. Imagine not having faith in your product? I mean look how long it took Kutaragi to admit the one button on the PSP sucked.
Even if you know you're putting out something that has the potential to suck donkey testicles you've got to be as excited as punch and pie about your p.o.s. product; otherwise you're basically kissing your stock goodbye.
Im laughing on the inside. How the might has fallen.

dynasty warriors. enough said.

I'm laughing at this mentality.
I'm laughing at this mentality.
I laugh at this mentality
i also laugh at
@Sony:
MICROSOFT IS A SOFTWARE COMPANY,NINTENDO IS A TOY COMPANY, THE DS IS A GHETTO HANDHELD, ITS A SUPER COMPUTER, ITS 400 TIMES MOAR POWERFUL THEN THE PS2, OH WAIT NVM ITS ONLY 40X, THE CELL CPU IS MADE OF GOLD
Seriously
New PR
The hell did Sony say that?
But honestly, how the mighty have fallen?
So they've made some mistakes in the past. It doesn't mean anything when they pick up the pieces after launch.
@yokaiforte:
The hell did Sony say that?
Few years back, They've said it during the last gen console wars, and im pretty sure they've said the same thing now
But honestly, how the mighty have fallen?

Sony is, at this point not in a good position, right now, Ever since the release of the PSP, they've been losing money, more then usual
People aren't taking them seriously
and Its hard to pick up the pieces if you are constantly falling on your face all the time
And like our good pal "Greg" here said
Launch=bragging rights
Thats not what i think, i think launch is a good chance to redeem yourselfs with
But Sony needs to really pull their shit back together
