Hi

Um I was just wondering whether someone here could possibly clear some things up for me about FMA? Sorry there are so many questions :sad:

Please could someone tell me what the OVAs are and where they take place in the story line of FMA. Are they the official end to the series/movie or their own thing? I haven't seen the movie yet (and know little about it) or the end of the series so please could someone tell me without any spoliers to these?

Also where can I find the Eng sub versions through bitorrent (the OVAS that is)

Another question, I have been crusing several forums recently and have read quite a few threads stating the possibility of a second movie/series being made. According to these fans, the manga continues on after the Anime with enough material for this to possibily happen. Anyone have any opinions (this is not coming from me by the way, its just what i've read)

Um, Does anyone know where I can download the Character Song File Best Completion album? I can't find it.

Is it true that the manga continues on past the anime/movie and gives FMA a better/proper ending? I have read from several people that the movie had quite a disapointing ending (no spoilers please)

One more little question, um does ED ever get his real arm and leg back. I know that he lost them again after getting them back at the end of the anime (no spoliers please) and has his metal one in the movie but thats all. Do his real ones ever come back? (I hope so)

anime/movie2= the manga goes beyond the anime, because they changed the story later on in the anime. The manga is still going. As for the movie, I haven't heard anything, so it could be true,but I dout it. The first movie ended it all, and it was so bad (imo) that i can't see them getting away with another one.

Exactly about the manga>anime. I've been reading a chapter or two everyday since I'm hooked on it so much now. By the time Ed and Al get to their flashback with Izumi it's awesome. The whole part with the gate actually MAKES SENSE, unlike in the anime. I can't wait to read more.

The only thing I like more in the anime than in the manga is that Lust and Gluttony fight Scar IN the Central Library and that's why it burned down as well. In the manga, if I remember, Gluttony smelled him, they fought a bit (mostly the same fight, but not quite as long) and then the library burned down also. I like it more than THEY caused it, and that fight was fun :D

i've seen artwork for the manga, and I actually like the anime artwork better. that's jut my personal preference though.

The artwork in the latest chapters has been really improving. And before I left Japan I bought the second artbook. Quite pretty!

The only part about the manga's artwork I kinda don't like is Roy's design compared to the anime. I dunno, it kinda bugs me.

The new artbook is magically delicious.

As is the Roy/Riza and Hughes/Gracia interactions in the new chapter. Not to mention Armstrong and Kimblee…god damn Kimblee is an evil bastard..but a cool evil bastard. I like him better than I did in the anime.

I am so looking forward to more Roy/Riza interaction as the flashback continues. And I would like to see more flashback within the flashback so we could see them together during Roy's time as a student under Riza's father.

I was hoping like crazy that Edward ends up in his world in the end but hell, life is really indeed unfair… Boo-hoo... just watched the movie recently and oh my god that just shattered my hopes of Edward ever returning to his world ever again. To me, it would be a lot better if the movie wasn't made.. At least Wrath is with his mother again.. Now, I look forward to the Manga series where Wrath and Edward are NOT Half-brothers and Winry admits she's in the love with Ed..

The anime was fine up until the Greed Part. then it Branched off, Wrath became Pride, they made up Their own Wrath and Homonculus Origins, The gate led somwhere else, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Fma is differently one of the most intresting series to catch up on that i have. Always twists and turns. The biggest shockers were this for me in this order

! 1. Ling becoming greed holy crap. 2. Roy "killing" ross 3.Wratth, this may be the biggest suprises in the series other then, 5. When ed's father showed up and then Father (the main villian) showed and i thought it was honeihiem

1 is the least and 5 is the most

And for the coolest moments ever:

! 1. When Wrath in volume 7 is all like "You may have the ultimate armour, but i have the ulitimate eye!
2: The big spread where Honehiem is like "What am I….A monster...."
3: And the coolest moment ever is when at the end of the chapter Mustang rips out the pholisphers stone (sp) from lust and kills her

Barry was my favorite character when I saw the anime too, but he was just so much better and funnier in the manga.

I literally laughed everytime he spoke.

Hee hee. I loved Barry in the manga too. Shame he wasn't like that in the anime.

Oh, and for me, ultimate shockers are:

! 1. Ling turning into Greed. I think a great cry rang through the fangirl nation when this happened. That came out of NOWHERE, that is what we call a true curveball. One of the reasons this manga is great. Even if it breaks my heart. cries
! 2. Seeing the Salamander Circle tattoo on Riza's back. Holy shit now, that was intense. Also learning that she is the daughter of the man who originally created fire alchemy and was Roy's teacher.
! And I think it is a DAMN SHAME that the Roy vs. Lust fight will never be animated. One of the greatest badass moments I can think of, and it will never see screentime. A great disappointment.

Maybe i doubt it tho. A lot of people say the greed fihgt vs Ed is the best. ( I am guessing the anime…) which i really didnt think so...(in the manga)

The Lust vs Roy fight in the manga does not compare to any other fight in the anime or manga thus far, at least in my opinion. It also doesn't compare to a lot of good fight scenes in general - it's probably on my top five bad ass anime fights ever… Just...

! the fact that he burnt his own flesh shut in order to stop the bleeding….that takes some serious badassness.

I also like that the subordinates under Roy get a lot more time in the manga too. They seemed almost like throw away characters in the anime. Heh, a sitcom starring Falman and Barry would be the greatest show ever. Period.

That's another thing I really like about the manga. The relationship between Roy and Riza is just so much more amusing. In the anime she's more a droid to her master than anything, but in the manga they interact like a married couple.

One of my favorite quotes:

Riza: Don't you dare go out into the battle field!
Roy: I know.

I also like how Roy pretends to talk to girls over the military line, but it's more of a code than anything, because he's afraid the lines are being tapped. Hahaha, that is great stuff.

Heh, last night when I was falling asleep I started to get these weird ideas for stories of a sitcom starring Barry and Falman in an apartment, so I deced to write one down. What do you all think? It's true, you get the weirdest ideas at night.

I just finished watching all the anime for the first time. I'm trying to catch up to the manga too.

The anime was great, but I felt the ending was a bit of a cop out. But I guess it can't be helped, since they had to deviate from the manga.

Well the idea of the Homunculus being the result of failed human transmutations was interesting, and everything seemed to tie together nicely (until the end where I was like :huh: "wtf is going on", but that's probably because I watched the last 10 eps at once).

But Roy Mustang didn't really kick ass in the anime. Then I looked at the manga after, and saw him roast that Lust chick, and I was like :yatta:

ROFL, loulou, I totally agree with you. I really liked the twist with human transmutation. And Mustang did not kick as much ass in the anime.

I think one of the reasons I found the ending to the anime interesting (if not extremely weird) is because at the time I was watching it, I was taking a course in Japanese atomic bomb literature. Had I wanted to, I could have written a paper on the similarities to Fullmetal Alchemist to other Japanese responses on the atomic bombings. But I don't think anyone else would even remotely understand that idea without having read the course materials, and I'm not sure it would have even occured to me had I not been emersed in writing the final paper to that course (and my "how history is portrayed in anime" independant study) at the same time I watched the ending.

I was looking forward to the movie to cap everything up…but I really, really didn't like what they did, it was a major let down. I'm glad the manga is still running, and I hope it will someday have some of the awesome stuff animated. (Though...it may end up suffering the same animated fate as Kenshin. le sigh So god damn frustrating!)

In other news, if anyone's going to Anime Next, we're working on a Fullmetal Alchemist cosplay skit. Fans of musicals and of the Roy/Riza relationship should enjoy it...if we manage to pull it off. two weeks left...cringe

This is just kind of a random thing that I've been meaning to do for weeks. I'm just wondering your opinions on these topics.

Has anyone else here herd the FMA Character singles? What are you guys's favourites? Mine are Ed's 2nd-Returnable Memories, Winry's 1st-Boy Friends and Ed, Al and Winry-Hagane no Kokoro.

Also, has one here herd the song Brothers that Vic Mignogna (English Ed) sings. I think that its very good. I just love Vic's Voice :wub: I also absolutly love another song that he sings called Nothing I Won't Give. Even though this song wasn't written for FMA, upon listening to the lyrics, you would think that it was. It's just perfect. Someone on Youtube made an amazing video with this song and I think that FMA fan should watch it. It is a really good series summerizer…

What are you guys's thoughts on the FMA PS2 games? Sadly I haven't had the chance to play them yet but from what I've herd they are really good. I was also thrilled to find out that the games each contain 30 minutes of origional animation that was made especially for the games story line. I've seen the trailers for 2 and 3 and they look amazing. I just wish that these storys where apart of the TV series. I did hear from someone though that the characters from the 3rd game make it into the later mangas and have alot more story to them than that of the game.

Does anyone here know where to get or own a copy of the 1st game animation trailer: FMA and the Broken Angel? I found 2 and 3 but can't find 1 anywhere. Um…I hope that you know what I am talking about when I say game animation trailer. Just incase the answer is no, I'm talking about the short trailers that where made for the origional animation for the storys of the game.

Also what are your favourite FMA AMV'S? I can name loads but I will wait until next post to state them.

Ginny, I'd be interested to hear what you read on Japanese atomic bomb literature. All I've had on it is manga– Akira, metaphorically, and Barefoot Gen of course. But I think it definitely informs FMA, as well as the movie (which I didn't much like either); I've seen some discussions on it on livejournal as well, so you might find more interest in the subject than you think. I'd certainly be interested. Japanese perspectives on WWII are quite fascinating; it's much more culturally current there than it is here.

What I learned from a quick read:

The tattoo on Riza's back is confirmed to be all the secrets of her father's research. Apparently he didn't trust to leave it on paper.

We finally see the Iron-Blooded Alchemist Gran in action. Apparently he's not as much of an ass as he is in the anime. Here he kills his superior officer who wanted to kill the Ishvarans that wanted to speak peacefully with Bradly. And it appears that the reaon Hughes is fighting is that "he doesn't want to die."

While I can't quite figure out what the full extent of Scar's brother's tattoos mean, I can figure out that the right arm is different from the left.

hey, something fun I figured out.
Watching Digimon Fronteer again. Takuya (guy with the goggles) has the same voice actor as Edward Elric. Noticed it, when Takuya was shouting angry, the way Ed always does.
