I bought it and played through the first boss. I'm on a deadline so I can't really indulge in it right now, but I'm liking it so far.

What system did you play it on? Playstation had some weirdness with the anaolog but you got used to it. Wii despite being perfect for it had bad implementation that didn't track well. DS pen was perfect but that was Okami-den which was otherwise a downgrade in every respect.
All three versions had issues but you got used to the brush after using it for 100 hours.
@Robby Funnily now that you mention it, I feel like I tried it for both the PS2 and the Wii, and if not then it was likely the PS2 over the two. I didn't super hate and quit after initial impressions, but even now I think I have an odd tendency to be temporarily content with something and revisit games much much later (often it's the long RPGs though).
Drawing with the DS pen sounds just right, but that's a shame Okami-den didn't live up.
Well, I spent most of the last few days playing through Teal Lotus. Took about 15 hours to almost 100% it. (In game clock says 12 hours, steam says 15) Probably would have only taken 7-10 if I didn't do a whole lot of backtracking and exploring to try and find everything. (Okay, not quite 100%, there's one challenge where you have to lead a 1 hit fragile egg across the map which I refuse to bother with)
Overall? It looked nice but I just can't recomend it.
It's not a bad game, but it really doesn't scratch that Okami itch like I hoped. (and its short!) Mostly makes me want to play Okami and Ori again. It's been years and years, maybe close to a decade I haven't played Okami since the PS3!
Or maybe this thing...
I think Steam has realized that I like Okami and is reccomending Okami/Ghibli inspired things to me now.
Crypt Custodian, out August 24. Those speech bubble sound effects are just straight up Okami. I guess the game is old enough now that players that grew up on it are devs now?
I would think (hope?) that Okami was influential on a lot of current devs.
