Don't panic. This isn't a topic about who's stronger. It's about the chapter…which happened a long time ago. I hope that's okay.
I first followed the anime and then went to the manga, so recently I've been reading the manga from the beginning. This chapter in particular caught my attention because it felt forced, like it was just done for the sake of seeing them fight each other. You probably already know where I'm going with this.
Luffy fought Zoro with every intention of killing him and even called him a liar when Zoro told him the truth. Doesn't that go against the theme of nakama/comradeship and Luffy's character? He had no problem believing Nami was innocent when he was told she killed Usopp...the primary reason being that she was his nakama. So what makes Zoro the exception here? I didn't think much of it when I first saw it, but seeing it again is very odd because when I think of Luffy now, I wouldn't expect him to do what he did at all.
Does anyone have some kind of explanation other than "Luffy was just stupid"?
