FTR, the last story arc(dont remember the name since I only casually enjoy this series anyways) was where things started to jump the shark and the author kept shoop da whooping people's dramatic martyr scenes over and over. It's lame. It's lame when OP does it and it's lame here. Thing is, OP has so much else going for it, it's easier to overlook.
This series is still interesting enough that I could see it turning around. Everyone gets a story arc or two of fail before we all jump ship. Personally, I sorta stopped caring how this would all turn out a while ago, but I am interested enough in the aftermath and what the next arc'll be to stick with it.
Fairy Tail still hasnt had it's "Save Sasuke" where i can literally predict every move and line of dialogue without even trying. And unlike Bleach it doesnt exists on cliches alone, despite making use of quite a few. There's still potential, probably why people are getting pissed at all the playing-it-safe Mash is doing.
im just tired of ppl repeating throughout this entire site just how dissapointed they are with every manga, but coming back week after week to launch the same complaints.
Stay out of the Bleach And Naru threadS? I dun get why ppl HATE those series but continue to force feed it to themselves only to bitch about how much it fails beyond failing week after week. It's not ending anytime soon, so just stop reading it.

Oh yes, I was ignored as a child, my parents didn't care for me enough and now i'm here seeking the attention is was so wrongfully deprived of in my childhood. It has nothing to do with the sickening plot twists and attempts to confuse readers more than they already are.

Well in all fairness, Fairy Tail really isn't that ground braking on the field of great naration, well scripted fights or superb plot twists. BUT personally it is my second favorite manga because of the characters. I find Fairy Tail to be a very easy to read story because of the lovely and funny characters. Also I've never been a fan of fights myself so I appreciate it that Mashima deals with it rather quickly. But even if I don't like fights I still notice that Fairy Tails is totally pale in comparison to other mangas here. And for people that care much about those parts, I can definitely understand the disappointment.
However I wouldn't call it a bad manga in general. At least the characters keep you entertained. Isn't the lack of good character portrayal what makes Naruto suck right now in comparison to the early days, where Kishimoto gave the cast a chance to shine as personalities? Well, this is exactly what Fairy Tail provides so far. It might not be mindblowing but it's still good.
Btw, I'm definitely in the boat with those guys who consider it a disappointment that Mist Gun is another Gerard. bleh

Anyway… this argument seems to be going nowhere. I agree with gilligan in the respect that an unexplained plot twist doesn't deserve such harsh criticism. But it is okay to be let down.
however, I'm just giving an author who has been successful at entertaining me the benefit of the doubt. My initial reaction to the twist was disappointing and as an avid reader, I expect the matter to be explained sometime soon.

i never said you cant draw, i was saying that you could go and write a story or something…. but that would follow wat u ( or ur publishers ) wanted it to do, not what some random child on a forum said should be happening.
And no Mashima is not god, (maybe I was put in the wrong mind set by briefly going on then naruto and bleach threads) but i dont really see the point in coming back to read a manga week after week which all you seem to be doing is complaining about.

I was sort of disappointed by the way Mist Gun just took off for a pretty flimsy reason. I mean, isnt saving the Guild more important than revealing his SECRETS? It just seemed like the easy way out to leave the fight for the heroes, but meh…not the first time FT pulled that crap. Also Natsu is sucking recently imho. He just hasnt been standing out as much as he did in the early chapters. me thinks Mash is starting to prefer the other characters and nepitism is affecting the writing.
Also, it's a children's comic from Japan.

Natsu definitely stood out more for me in the early chapters. Actually the entire guild seemed more interesting. Maybe i've just gotten used to their antics..

On topic: mistgun's face disappointed me. I was expecting someone cool but not "another gerald". I read all the chapters last week. While the beginning was kinda cool and promising it declined at the middle and at the end. Well it's entertaining but not my favourite manga. -
So, quick question: Is Polyshuka (whatever it is) an Elf or some kind of monster? Cause she clearly states she's not human and actually hates them in general… several times, in fact.
Also, disregarding Mist Gun being Gerard #3 for a moment, Levi has been getting a lot more attention lately. Think she'll be the next Fairy Tail member to join the main cast?

Levi's likely going to be one of the main, maybe the only, reason Gazille goes back on to Fairy Tail's side later on after he betrays them to whoever he's working for now.
So yeah she'll probably be the arc "extra" like Lluvia was for the Tower of Paradise arc and Elfman was for the Phantom Lord arc.

Vegeta and Bulma were actually a good match if you really paid attention. Both can be loud and obnoxious. Both throw temper tantrums when something isn't going there way. There both hot headed. Are great at bluffing. There's more than just that. Yamcha was never good for bulma.

At the moment we only know three of the great mages don't we? Makes me wonder about the other guilds, maybe there's a quiet but elite one. The kind thats name only gets spread at the higher levels of Fairy Tail's society

I don't think Ivan is Luxus father, because for all we know Luxus didn't completely dismiss his father. And I doubt if Ivan was his father he would need to use Gazille to infiltrate Fairy Tail, I mean he's got a more powerful son sitting there who probably wouldn't mind betraying Fairy Tail for power. Maybe Ivan has somethign to do with Ultear and her Zeref planning.

Sorry, I forgot, who was the third introduced holy great mage again? And I thought there has to be another elite guild too but then they would really be a quiet one (like Zod said about his own guild). On the current continent/country only Phantom Lord was known to be equally strong to FT.

Boy was that an undeserved hype. Phantom's elite was beaten by FT's upper mid-tiers (aside from Elzrsa). If Mirjana hadn't wussed out or Laxus had brought his team in they'd have taken Phantom apart in 5 minutes.
Also Gildartz is Laxus' dad because they have similar haircuts.
