I agree. Kinniku is overall a power based character, but no doubt he'll have laughter based moves White Hole being one of them.
Jump Ultimate Stars!

-
Anna in JSS1 had a mix of Knowledge and Power moves (5Koma if I remember corretly), so maybe Kinniku will work the same.
-
OK, I'm probably going to be bashed for this, but is it just me or are the series that have the most characters the ones that either are the current big stories (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach) or those that are "sentimental favorites" (Dragon Ball)? I know that a few characters are worthy of getting characters, but I'm afraid that pushing the bigger or more popular series may end up preventing some cool or interesting characters from many of the other series from showing up. Heck, while I like the character pool so far, I would start to worry if some extremely minor DB character shows up while some great or major character from another series (can't really use an example from the top of my head) gets sidelined.
-
I remember Ryotsu having a power based move (the one where he threw a bunch of junk).
Yes, the series with the most playable characters tend to be the most popular.
I kind of got annoyed with how it seemed that popularity affected how strong the characters in the game were, since some characters were arbitrarily given 6 komas while a lot of good ones were stuck at just 5.

Personally, in my head, I think that all "battle-based" characters of legitimacy should have a standard number of Koma, allowing for all battle characters to have the potential to max out at 6 or even 7. That way, we could have the likes of Jaguar or Gintoki fight alongside the likes of Naruto, Goku and Luffy. But I think they're probably going to throw the power to the big titles more to show how great they are compared to the others.

Lol, i wonder why i didn't think about posting this before…<.<
Oh well, since im no member of Gamefaqs, im gonna upload it here instead.
This weeks WJ scan:
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/7585/jus14av0.jpgAssumed to be confirmed (not 100%):
! Hunter X Hunter:
Killua is now playable
! Yu Yu Hakusho:
Yuusuke is not just melee anymore, he can now shoot while in air.
Kurama is playable
Hiei is playable
Kuwabara is so far a support
! Others:
Some unknown character below KilluaIf im thinking correctly, i think that WJ will have JUS news in this order:
Big news+pick up -> pick up -> big news+pick up -> pick up and so forth. ( so we may expect something good next week =) ) -
Wow, Kurama and Hiei being in is pretty cool. I'd wish Kuwabara would be playable, he's my favorite character.
-
Hunter X Hunter:
Killua is now playableWow this game keeps getting better and better.
-
Hiei, Kurama and Kuilla are playable… ^_^ Excellent! I hope they do a YuYu/HxH tag team move.
-
Killua, Kurama, and Hiei are really no surprise to me. BTW, I don't remember the release date of this game, if it was even revealed. Does anyone know?
-
November 26th I think. That or its the 23rd.
When it comes out, we need a tournament like every month using the wifi feature XD.
-
Nov. 23 2006.
Killua….playable...............WOOT!!!
The guy below him looks kinda like Nentou or Nataku from Houshin Engi, but I can't tell.
Thank you Puma for the lovely scan. -
Playable Hiei and Kurama?
Win.
-
The more I look at it, I think that guy below Killua might just be a support version of Hisoka. I'm not 100% sure though.
-
Possibility of Hisoka as a support character as well? The good news keeps coming and coming!
-
I'm fairly confident the guy in the lower right is Hiei.
-
No Im talking about the guy above him and below Killua.
-
I know, I was just saying.
-
@Cap'n:
I'm fairly confident the guy in the lower right is Hiei.
You are correct. The kanji gives it away.
-
GRRAAAHH!!
Hopefully a translator will come by and clear our hopes up: This is too much speculation!!! (My wishful thinking is seeing Hisoka and Sensui in those scans)
Time for another random Question!:
Out of all the new series:
Houshin Engi
Kinnikuman
Saint Seiya
Neuro
Muhyo to Rouji
Captain Tsubasa
Rokudenashi BluesAnd assuming they all had battle koma, if only 1 deserved a 7-Koma, which one should get it? I vote for Houshin Engi, so many battle techniques and a very popular series.
-
Yeah I agree, a 7 koma Taikoubou (Houshin Engi) would be too sweet for words. Seiya would be another good 7 koma character (Sagatarrius cloth).
-
I think a Seiya would be appropriate. After all, it is THE classic, really.
-
Well, I'd put Kinniku in that place.
-
I just took a second look at the new Yu Yu Hunter scan, and after pondering for some time, that does look like Hisoka, purely because he's using his "Texture Suprise" technique.
Which give me a 90% chance of being right when I say HISOKA IS IN!!! WOOT!!!!
-
No, Gear, that'sthe main character from Kinnikuman Muscle.. Do your homework, dummy. :P
nEVER MIND, i THINK HE GOT IT A LOOONG TIME AGO Caps fault
Should hasve checked the pages..
-

I believe you're right. Well fantastic.
-
My Guesses:
-7 Koma: Kinnikuman, Seiya
-6 Koma: Taikoubou
-4/5 Koma: Muhyo, Neuro
-Support: Tsubasa, Maede -
Yeah, personally I believe Kinnikuman deserves a 7-Koma. Maybe for his "Inner Burning Strength"..
-
I only jsut a couple days ago ordered the 1st game from play-asia.
anyone want to give a brief explanation of Koma?
-
Hey, does anyone else think that Hokuto no Ken has a pretty good chance of being represented in this game?
-
So yeah, I hope next week we see some update for shaman king. I really want Ren and HoroHoro to be playable.
Also can series that come out monthly be playable. I know Steel ball run is monthly and that was in. So could beet the vandel buster be in too? I hope so.
-
Well this is for Weekly Jump, so I doubt series in V Jump and the like won't be in.
-
But isnt steel ball run in monthly jump?
-
Steel Ball Run started in Weekly Jump, then was moved to Ultra.
-
So yeah, I hope next week we see some update for shaman king. I really want Ren and HoroHoro to be playable.
I agree. Or Hao.
But then again was Shaman King populr enough to warrent four playable characters and a support character?
-
I would rather see Ren and HoroHoro then Hao though, even if hao was a support character in the last game. I don't think Shaman king is popular enough considering it got a bs ending.
This is also why the villians should have their own game, so more unpopular series, get more characters.
-
I only just a couple days ago ordered the 1st game from play-asia.
Anyone want to give a brief explanation of Koma?
OK, I'll try to give info in my own words:
In this game, Koma (or comic panels/squares) are the building blocks you use to make a roster of fighters. They can mix and match from any series, which is the number one reason this game kicks so much ass.
||||||
||||||
||||||
||||||^ This is where you assemble your koma on the bottom screen. It's made up of 1x1 squares that dictate which and how many koma you choose to use. The maximum number of squares is 20. Komas are broken down into 3 groups:
(YOU NEED AT LEAST 1 OF EACH TYPE TO MAKE A PLAYABLE PAGE!)
1 Block: Help Koma. This is the basic koma. It usually only contains a headshot of the character, and can be used with silhouettted panels to unlock bigger Koma. The character never shows up on the battlefield, but it does give you status effects when you tap it, depending on the character's role in his/her manga. For Example:
-1 Koma Luffy gives a Power Boost
-1 Koma Chopper restores health
-1 Koma Usopp gives a Speed Boost2-3 Block: Support Koma. These bigger blocks allow a character to appear briefly on the field, attack/block/stun/whatever, then teleport out. While not directly controlled, they are a great help when you need to break through a guard or add more damage to a combo. Example:
-2 Koma Luffy appears and does his "Gomu Gomu no Baku Baku" attack4-7 Block: Battle Koma. These bad boys are your playable characters. Each battle koma for the same character has the same basic moves, but as they get bigger, their health gets longer and their special attacks and even appearances change. All battle koma start at 4, but only a select few characters get the privelage of a rare 7-Koma, which involve a transformed super attack.
BOOSTING:
This advanced technique is a method of organizing certain Koma on your page to boost your stats. With a basic deck, the highest your special gauge can go is 3 (You use 1 special bar for every Help Koma, Support Koma, and Special Attack.) However, using boosting increases health and the special gauge, meaning a number as high as 18 if you're good enough.
The special gauge maximum goes up by 1 for every koma in your deck. However, if two Koma share a special bond with one another, these effects happen:- If the Battle Koma shares a bond, that characters maximum health goes up.
- If a Support Koma shares a bond, then the special gauge gains 2 bars instead of 1.
- Help Komas cannot be boosted.
Koma only boost with 1 or 2 different characters. Sometimes it's because of their relationship in the manga (Zoro boosts Sanji, and vice versa) while others boost because of similar backgrounds or principles (Jotaro is boosted by Yusuke, and Sven is boosted by Kakashi).
whew that about covers it.
-
ohh tat makes more sense.
so can I say have 2 fighters? and if I do can I switch between them? what happens if I don't play one?
how can a fighters Koma size increase?
other than that, it makes perfect sense. oh and could I say use Luffy for all versions? like have a support a help and a fighter Luffy all at once? just curious
-
so can I say have 2 fighters? and if I do can I switch between them? what happens if I don't play one?
You can have as many fighters as you can fit in, but you need to have at least one Help Koma, one Support Koma and one Battle Koma for it to be usable. Additionally if you want to boost characters it may be better to use two small komas, though I managed to make a deck with Bankai Ichigo and Afro Luffy and give the two battle characters their support characters (all characters have two support characters, i.e. Luffy's is Ussop and Zoro). Note that a boost can be any koma as long as the two aren't help. I.e. a Help or Support Ussop can boost a Battle or Support Luffy and vice versa, while a Help, Support or Battle Luffy Koma can support a Support Ussop Koma (Luffy supports Ussop). Help Ussop next to Help Luffy won't do anything.
how can a fighters Koma size increase?
The size of the koma doesn't increase but their in battle health bar can. If you hover the cursor over the character after he/she's been boosted, you can see how much of a gain they get.
oh and could I say use Luffy for all versions? like have a support a help and a fighter Luffy all at once? just curious
No. A character can only feature once, and if you use two characters to unlock one Koma (which happens a few times) you can't use both of them if you use that Koma. For example you need Goku and Vegeta to unlock Goku's 7Koma Vegito. This means you can't use any Vegeta Help, Support or Battle Komas as well as 7Koma Goku (which counts as a Goku Koma). There is a glitch which alows you to put in a Koma twice but I wouldn't reccomend it.
-
Thought I had earlier.
I am basing this off of the recent scan with YYH and HXH on it. Since both of those series are by Togashi, I'm guessing we will get a Watsuki one very soon with Kenshin and Buso Renkin.
There is a glitch which alows you to put in a Koma twice but I wouldn't reccomend it.
It's a damn fun glitch, I'll tell you the trick if you ask.
-
Well I'm probably going to make almost exclusively One Piece, possibly with a bobobo character, and maybe a Naruto, if I find one worth it. but overall One Piece.
So uhh….I'm going to have to do the math. but just anyways, whats the trick? I like my options open.... :)
-
The trick.
1. Go to the deck select mode and set up a basic deck. Just so you can get to the training mode.
2. Hit select twice to get the controls. Just the text, no pics.
3. Move to the one you wish to place, example, you have the 5 koma Luffy already set, go to the 4 koma.
4. Press start to enter the training battle. Pause, then go back to the deck setup, which is the second last option.
5. IMMEDIATELY AFTER selecting that, hit X rapidly. The koma you selected should appear and can then be placed.
-
cool.
I'll be getting the game tomorrow, and working on #1 while waiting patiently for my preorder of ultimate stars.
does the game have an english option? I know some games, like sonic the hedgehog games and some others I've seen, which give a language select?
-
No english option, but it's not that difficult.
-
Agreed. For me personally the FAQs on IGN and GameFAQs really helped me complete all the missions 100%. Additionally once you get the gist of the game you'll hardly need them.
Also, you might want to go here, as it has a useful guide for unlocking the empty/Sherif Komas.
-
hate to sound stupid again.
just got the package today, and was wondering
how do you save the deck you make? I made a ok one, for now since I don't have a ton of cards, I don't know what I need to do to save.
I wsh I could read Japanese right now!
-
Select the uh.. .. top option when you exit. I'm not sure, I havn't played in awhile. If I'm not mistaken, the Top is Save and Exit, the Middle is Exit without Saving, and the Bottom is to continue working on it.
-
that explains a ton. thanks.
I can't wait for Ultimate Stars it's gonna rock!
-
argh how do I go down through platforms? I don't know the combo and without it sand no hop whatsoeve rof winning battle 3-8, it's the one in Battle City where you can't get hit at all for 25 seconds. it's a pain in the butt.
EDIT: 3-7 SORRY
-
A down to go through platforms.
Also just run around and jump the whole time. This works great, especially if you are on the GM stage. Good jumpers like Luffy and Goku are always good.
