Novelizing ONE PIECE?

Alright, I have been in the US for 4 years, and what I have noticed that in the US, we do not have the "manga" culture here. I think people (general public) read more novels here, and manga are only known among the "mania".

So here's is my suggestion. How about someone making a novel out of ONE PIECE? Obiviously, when you Novelized the story, you must write the story from diffrent angles focusing more on the theme and the advanture. However, I do think that that would be greate success in the US becuase ONE PIECE is a great story. It is just not possible with an american company making an english OP manga.

Realisticly speaking, it this possible? For example, what are the license involved with this? I know Viz has the license, but it that only apply for manga only? Just curious…

Discuss.... because I have dream of complete this novel if possible :happy:

Actually I am kind a SERIOUS about this.... if it's possible, I am going to write the novel. May sound like a crazy idea, but you never know...

Personally I don't think it would work. Sure Oda has created an amazing story, but half of that is credited to his artwork. Plus some of the fighting would be rather dull without any visuals.

I kinda agree with phear. Think of the visual humor that would be lost.

Probably you'll have to contact Oda/Shuei-sha for it since they have the copyright for anything to do with One Piece. I think unless you are super good, it might be hard to get their permission >.>

… Or just go for fan-novel o.o

LOL… I was expecting all these kinda responses.... however, I actually did started to work on this project about two days ago.

I think I won't able to go as far as "publishing", but I will have it out there for OP fans. Yes, humors are lost, and there are some parts where you can only describe with "manga"; however, I think there is a lot more in OP than just a humor and those scenes. Specially after hearing Kimutaku's radio, it turned me on more....

I will have a something up here by next week....

Maybe we should wait until Oda finishes the manga. That way, he would be able to make a novelezation that would give a company to translate from.

If there was a novel it would be weird. the fighting would be like : Luffy punched Ussop.Blood spluttered out of his long nose. ah! yelled ussop.Luffy gazed down at him. Then to celebrate they ate a penguin they found dead…Don't ask...................

I would totally get it, if the writing style was good. >.> I love to read…..

If anything, Nami in Arlong and Usopp in Water 7 would rule in novel form, going beyond the seen emotions and conflicts. It worked for the heartles Darth Vader, it couldwork for Soge King
