Translating these english words into japanese

Well I found out japanese words and stuff arent used like when you know one word and how to say it,You cant just use it in a sentence with other japanese words.

Like Katana Shukun,
Katana means blade and Shukun means lord but when are put together they
are supposed to different like its own word.

What's wrong with just writing out the English names in kana? It would certainly save you on time and effort.
