Mine is English, but I'm trying to learn Japanese (kanji is too hard for me >.<)
What's you're native language?
-
-
i usually speak cantonese, cause im living in hong kong…but im thai,i speak thai too ..in school i speak english and cantonese...
-
I've seen a Cantonese film called The Eye before (I liked it). Also, you're pretty good at English. How long have you been speaking it?
-
Mandrin. I have been explosed to English for 10 years and if I suck at it,I don't know what to say XD
I am trying to learn Japanese too..
-
Wait, was The Eye Mandarin or Cantonese?
Don't worry StrawHatLuffy, I know NATIVE speakers that can't speak (type, whatever -_-) as good as you.
-
The Eye is Cantonese..;)
-
Japanese.
But because I've resided in NYC for a much longer period of time, I've become more proficient in english.
I want to learn French.

I was right the first time ^_^ ;
-
Swedish… when I was 8, I started to study english.
-
All I speak is English. I took French in 3rd and 4th grade, and two more years of it in Highschool… but about all it did for me is make me able to occasionally pick out a few words of it here an there... and only just barely.
I'd like to take Japanese and Italian someday... I like how those two languages sound. ^_^
-
Same here on the Italian part :)
-
English. I know a bit of French & German, trying to pick up Japanese.
-
English and French here.
-
Which did you learn first, or did your parents speak both languages?
-
Creole and french. I started learning english since fourth grade. I'm trying to learn japanese so I can watch raw episodes, but meh. -_-
-
finnish, obviously.
technically my second language is swedish, but i'm much more fluent in english, because we started learning it in the third grade, when swedish comes in the picture in the seventh grade.
i've studied french as well in high school, and then i've took some spanish lessons.
i've studied russian too, but i can't remember anything about it. -
Will teach Japanese if you teach French.
-
My native language is Greek, but I also speak English and French.
-
My native language is English. I did take a class of German, but I forgot most of what I learned.
-
I was raised speaking English. I'd like to learn Japanese, but I don't have much resources or nearly enough time.
-
My dad spoke to me in English, and my mom spoke to me in Spanish. So two languages  I'm learning Japanese.
EDIT- 100 posts!
-
So in what language did they speak to each other?
Congrats! I still have a long way to go…
-
Swedish. Started with english when I was 9. German when I was 12, and stopped when I was 15. Never again.. Ugh.. I hate it. I learned some, and now it's all forgotten.
I love english more than swedish, and many times each day I don't know the word in swedish, but in english. Quite amusing, I would say. -
English. I'm so white, I'm amazed I am learning japanese so well…
-
I´m spanish so I don´t speak very well english (I´ve study it since I was 8 years old… now I have 16) but I speak french too. Nodaways, I´m trying to learn Japanese but it´s very difficult >.< (only I know easy sentences)
P.D: sorry my english -.-
-
Slovensko :)
i know some english, german, croatian, serbian and a little of other slavic languages. -
English. Second language is technically French (my mother is half-French and likes to babble on with it when she's alone or really mad), but I only remember the swear words and whatever I'd need if I suddenly got catapulted into Paris. Third is Japanese, which I am MUCH more proficient at. And no, I don't do translations unless they're desperately needed; I have a life.

Haha, amen (to your last sentence).
Does your mom ever curse like the Merovingian? I heard "It's like wiping your ass with silk."
-
Not exactly. Some of her favorites:
faire du vent - kind of like calling bullshit on someone/something
nom de dieu! - like 'for pete's sake'
je m'en fous - loosely, 'I don't give a fuck'
merde! - 'shit!'
bambocheur - a hellraiser (I got this a lot  )
la ferme - 'fuck off'And so on. <_<;
-
Haha! That's great! I remember "merde", especially because that's one of the first words I learned back when I was taking French…though, it didn't get me too far.
-
Not to be offensive, but I just thought it was kind of ironic that you used the wrong "your" in the title of a language thread. :P
Anyway, my native language is English, and I'm sort of obsessed with grammar, so… sorry about that. x_x.;; I've been taking Japanese for two years, and I plan to take either Russian or German (or both?) in college.

**My parents? Mine spoke both to each other, but mostly English because we were in America.
-
Lol..everytime i had french lesson i'd want to die…i hate french lesson lol..too hard..it giving me a headache ...i know some french...un doh twa..hahaha ,how you like that...
-
My native language is Danish. I've got some basic skills in Spanish and French, can follow most conversations in Swedish and Norwegian and study English and German at a Business School.
And like most people here, I plan to attend a Japanese course or two.^^ -
English. I've been learning German since I was 4 (German Godfather and stuff), Japanese since I was 12 and French since I was 13. But that's because my secondary school specializes in Languages so I have a lot of resources.
-
My native lang. is German, but I speak Enlish since I´m 11 and now I´m learning Italian! I also want to learn French, but there is no one who can teach me! The same thing is with Japanese! I don´t know anybody who speaks this lang. and in Austria there are no schools which teach this language!
-
English i want to learn japanese but time and resorces are keeping me from doing that right now
-
English. Born and raised in California, where the public school systems suck. I did take Spanish in high school and a little bit in college, but I never practiced it enough to become proficient. I can read Spanish fairly well, but my comprehension/speaking is lousy. The irony is that I live in a predominantly spanish-speaking area.
I've started to try to learn some Japanese on my own. I know almost as much Japanese now as I do Spanish, but it's much more daunting to put the sentences together (the Verb/Subject/Object order differences are difficult to get used to)
-
Danish…Or more accurately Danglish = 80% Danish, 20% English. I find myself subconciously replacing Danish words with english  , and have more trouble remembering the danish translation of an english word than the other way around...
Second language is english, which I have been taught since...Very early by the worlds best teachers: Television, games, books.
3rd language: French. Don't try to get me to talk it though, as I will spend 5 minutes on any sentence...If it needs to make sense, that is.
4th: German. I ended it 2 years ago after studying it for 3 years. And seeing as how I now have french, it was a terrible, TERRIBLE mistake. -
My native language is English, but I'm currently learning Spanish.
-
My native language is Dutch. I basically picked up English through television and various other sources, though I never actually studied it. I also speak a smithen of German, probably because it's so damn similar to Dutch. Aaannddd… I started teaching myself Japanese about four years back and am now pretty much fluent.
I guess I lucked out, seeing as how the Dutch language is probably the easiest to adapt when it comes to pronounciation and all that. From my point of view, at least. That, and I have a monkey dancing around my room.
Wait, I don't see where that's good for...
-
My mother tongue is Taiwanese, which I spoke fluently until the age three.
When I went to kinder/pre/elementary, my friends teased me for speaking foreign language, I hated it, so I kind of lost it. I still can understand it for daily conversation, but speaking is awful. I have Japanese accent when I speak Taiwanese lol.So my native (most fluent) tongue is Japanese. I know Mandarin to the same level as Taiwanese.
I'm thinking of picking up either German (again) or Cantonese. Probably Cantonese so that I can communicate with my gf's parents ~.~

As for me, I'm English, but I can speak a little bit of both French and Japanese, and am pretty fluent in Spanish.
