So I was looking at upcoming DVDs at CDjapan.
Next month another Skypiea DVD…. and for Feb... Foxy Kaizokudan!? Wait... what? I'm missing some details. But isn't G8 before Foxy. I hope it is a screw-up because it says 4:3 for the aspect ratio. This is odd... Unless the first part of the season title refers to G8. Anyone want to clerify?
New DVD confusion!

Hmm, that´s strange. Skypiea ends at ep 195 and Longring Longland starts at ep 207 so there´s 11 G-8 filler episodes between. I don´t mind if they would be let out but it wouldn´t work with the end of 195 because we see G-8 there already.
However I wouldn´t mind if it ends up being 4:3 over widescreen. I know I´m the minority here but I just prefer to have my screen filled out instead of having those black bars.

They misspelled Kaigun.
Dasshutsu Kaigun Yosai is Escape the Marine Stronghole. -
Don't they usually seperate these things though? For instance with Arabasta, they were labled differently for the first part and second part. Also, I hope they don't put Foxy in 4:3. We will see what is happening with that by summer.
So Kaiun was Kaigun, ah, now I get it o.o -
Don't look at me, I just work here o_o

So if I get it right, that´s the name of this entire DVD season which includes G-8 and Foxy. Please correct me if I´m wrong.

No, that sounds about right.

I'm just the opposite. I can't watch a movie without widescreen. It drives me nuts knowing the picture is cropped.
For the confused: On fullscreen DVDs the picture is cropped to fill the entire screen, but the image is cut off. With widescreen, you get the entire image, but with the bars at the top and bottom.

Those bars annoy me sometimes

Except those aren't bars, what you are seeing is the inteeded animated aspect ratio. Also, not to mention, when watching it on the PC, your not watching it WITH BARS, your watching it at the correct aspect ratio.
:glare: I hate when people think Fullscreen = Better. this isn't always the case.

I prefer watching fullscreen DVDs on a fullscreen television and widescreen DVDs on a widescreen television. My philosophy is to match the aspect ratio with the screen you're watching it on - I hate having a black area on the screen, even if it means clipping to avoid it. The best is when you buy a DVD that has both ratios on the same disk, but that's generally pretty rare for obvious reasons.

I dislike how you lose a lot of screen space.
For example, my monitor does 1920x1440. A 1080-class hi-def picture is, IIRC, 1920x1080. 360 lines– 25 percent of the screen-- is blank. Now if I wanted a monitor with 25 percent less viewable space, I'd have bought one.

Except for the fact that made an argument about the ratio. It´s that to some people (like myself) that what you´re watching loses it´s appeal if not the entire screen is filled with images.
It´s not about what is better full or widescreen but just about filling the screen that you have. I have no problem with widescreen. But I don´t like watching widescreen footage on a fullscreen tv and vice versa. And since I have no widescreen monitor I prefer my One Piece in fullscreen.
But anyways starting with episode 207 the dvd´s will most probably change to widescreen anyway and nothing about my personal preferences will change anything about it. =(
