Am I the first to notice that Chuu and Nojiko have the same tattoo? The bar with dots below on the upper arm?
Nojiko was too young to be tattooed at the time the Arlong Pirates arrived at Kokoyashi.
The design to me reminds me of the "stripes" a military officer would wear on a uniform, but obviously the Arlong Pirates don't wear anything resembling a uniform.
This has made my sick mind theorise:
Possibility 1: Since Nojiko obviously was keeping some order in town (see whooping the annoying kid and Usopp when they threatened fishmen), perhaps she was treated like an officer, or was impressed into their service at one time, and rose to whatever rank one bar and a row of dots symbolises.
Possibility B: It's not a military badge, but rather a shared pattern from a romance between Chuu and Nojiko? XD
Possibility z: It's a popular design. Why? It's odd that its appeal cuts between two species.
