Dude, that was actually pretty good.
-
Agreed. Curious to see where it goes from there, but I'm quite fond of the old guy.
-
What if Shohoku's coach was John Wick in another life? That's what I've just read and I loved it.
-
I really liked this first chapter!! I think this is going to become my last Manga to read on Sundays. What a nice way to close off on reading Shonen Jump. Can't wait to see how it develops.
-
That was a great first chapter. Can't shske the Gokushufudou vibes I'm getting from this though. But I'm sure it's going to be its own thing.
Btw, is this the authors first serialization? Tried to google him but couldn't find much.
-
First new Jump series that has captivated me from the very first chapter since Chainsaw Man. Hopefully the quality does not drop.
-
What a strangely chill and wholesome chapter. Not quite sure where the series can go from here, but I'm sticking around to find out.
For some reason it makes me feel nostalgic.
-
My first thoughts when reading this: "Is that you coach Anzai?"
-
So far 3 chapters. I would say it is good, definitely better than Build King.
-
Really liked the first two, but the last one was quite weak - here's to hoping a bounce back
-
Really happy this series seem to be sticking around. I don't care for the story at all but the art…
I LOVE THE ART.
Makes me all nostalgic and feeling like I'm watching a movie. This guys got talent. This and Dandandan is fulfilling all my needs for good action manga.
-
Sakamoto Days in my opinion is for the newer Jump series, it's best one.
-
Oh, the grandpa from the one-shot is finally about to fight, can´t wait.
-
The action scenes were already top tier. Now the dialog are amazing as well. The banter between Slur and his allies in the middle of the action was awesome.

Didn't even know there was a one shot. Was it before Sakamoto Days became a series or is it kinda like an Omake?

Gotta agree that the series has been picking up lately, though it still has was to go. Kinda blown away by the fact that it's been a good year since the first posts came in since the series started. Just feels like it started a few months ago. O.o

The name of the oneshot is Garaku, maybe you can find a hosting site that works for you. We usually don't get simultaneous translations for oneshots, so they're easy to miss.
-
I have been reading it regularly since the first chapter came out. Glad to see other guys are picking up too. To me, concept wise, it is the best new series in WSJ in recent years. I hope it survive to the point of a anime adaptation. It has every material to be a hit.
-
Same, I been reading the series since it started. I also hoped it survived long enough for an animated adaptation.
-
If the right studio got their hands on this it would be amazing. This is one of those rare manga that make me feel like I'm experiencing something unique, something I'll keep thinking back on regardless of my enjoyment of the work. It has a very strong identity and stands out from most other WSJ series.
And thanks for recommending the one shot, I loved it!
-
Wow, I'm positively surprised that others have been reading this series. I was wondering if it just wasn't popular since the last post was made about a year ago.^^

Thanks for the name. I'll see if I can find it somehow.^^
-
I was never worried that this would fail. The first chapter was really a good mix of action, humour and a nice preview into the universe while being fast-paced. It was very much the anti Red Hood.

For mangadex, try switching off wifi and use data roaming if you can. That solves it for me.
-
I read it but there's very little to discuss every chapter, unless we comment each week how the art was good and the action was cool.
But since there's already a discussion going on, I don't get the portrayal of the JAA. They're portrayed as somewhat good, somewhat neutral. Plus after the first chapter they're friendly with Sakamoto. Now Slur it killing them and he's supposed to be the villain, but he's the same as them.

Thanks, will try that.
-
Oh yeah, I've been reading it as well. For a while I was worried that it would go back to pure shonen territory when Sakamoto would shrink back to his former fit self, but I really enjoy the art and the right dose of goofiness.
I'm not too sure either where the respective assassins groups stand in manner of being friendly/neutral/evil, but as long as the MC group keep their focus on family and running their shop I'm good with it.Garaku one shot is a good read too, by the way. Thanks for linking.
-
Only immediate peril for this story is getting repetitive. MC needs to have a small lose, not shounen type lose but a setback. It is about time.
-
This chapter was amazing!
That clean-freak is quickly becoming one of my favourites.
-
I don't know why but this arc is a bit too much for me
-
Nothing is too much for me in this manga.
-
The filmmaker just reminded me of Togata.
-
That movie, Youtube, Google conversation was both hilarious and infuriating. Good stuff.
-
I picked this up from chapter 30 something when the deer guy appeared and im really hooked, great stuff specially the group of villains
i wasnt expecting this develoment since a few chapters ago we saw them chilling at the karaoke but interesting how things will unfoldAlso the art is "cheff Kiss"

We're spoiled for good art and generally solid paneling these days. This, dandadan, kaiju 8, elusive samurai, ayashimon even.
One thing I like about this series is that the wholesomeness feels very 'baked in', not at all forced or slapped on.
-
This series is always a delight to read, I'm fully enjoining most of it - just though some of the killers from the park arc were a bit dull. But all in all the author is doing good work balancing the goofiness and the edginess (the old samurai is the most BAD ASS side character I've seen in a while)
-
Agreed. The whole assassin society angle wouldn't be my cup of tea if the story became too serious, but so far it has maintained a good balance with goofiness and the family aspect.
And +1 for badass samurai grandpa. That oneshot focusing on him was a delight to read.
-
That reminds me that I still need to read that oneshot.
-
Were Resident Evil's lags that bad?
-
Wow, the last chapter was brutal.
-
That director guy could've handled that better by himself.
-
I was actually hoping for Shin and Kaji to win this on their own, either by breaking the machine that controls Shinaya or simply with their force combined and the lag issue
The fight will probably end next chapter and we'll se who will be "recruited" also next week is cover and color page (hopefully of the villains)
I like this page the most
!
-
Can someone remind me what was the goal of this arc? I forgot why did they enroll to school and what was Slur looking for in there.
-
No idea either. Is it maybe a follow-up on the lead they had received after visiting the JAA ? Whatever the explanations ends up being, I reckon the school arc is a bit confusing so far. It's been fight, fight, fight so I lost sight of their goals.
-

They're trying to get into the JCC database to get some info about Uzuki/Slur/X, as for the villains they were supposed to be scouting new people for their organization
But now the only one who is left is Akira since Gaku half-killed everyone else, wonder how that will play out -
Every week is like watching a crazy action scene from a movie (John Wick on steroids). I'm already hyped for whenever it gets an anime.
-
She seems to be the same age as Database and the katana grandpa, which means that in context she's drawn relatively young.
Random, but I sometimes wonder if the dark comedy tone of this manga works against its chances with an anime adaptation.
-
Yeah the fight will be cool. I'm not a fan of the movie director so seing him being beaten will be delightful
