Toriko III: It's Over!!
-
-
Chapter is out. KageKageKing posted it above.
-
RIP Air. We hardly knew ya.
Shimaaaa! There is just too much going on! -
I fucking love Jirou been waiting for the Rampage Beast to emerge.
-
RIP Air. We hardly knew ya.
Shimaaaa! There is just too much going on!He's the one who put an end to Ichiryuu.
Got what he deserved. -
Since it's confirmed that the Nitro are somehow 'good' guys too, just disregarding Earth and want to seal Neo at all costs, I don't think Jirou will kill them completely. But who knows.
-
-
I think…Jirou is getting too cocky. I'm sure he can do okay against Blue Nitro, but taking on Neo Demon, fully reivied or no, seems a bit of a strech, imho; Rampaging Beast Jirou or no. A single piece of the Neo Demon practically one-shot devoured a capture level 4000 beast, and Jirou seemingly couldn't even kill the piece; he was forced to send it far, far away. He lost his hand in the process too.
-
I was expecting we go back to area 6 but it wasn't as I expected.

Sealed Jirou, yeah. We have no idea how insane this unleashed beast is.

I can almost gurantee he isn't strong enough to beat the Neo Demon, even if strictly speaking from a storytelling standpoint. I think it should be obvious that defeating the fully revived Neo Demon will be left up to Toriko, Sunny, Coco, Zebra, and maybe Starjun. I don't expect Midora and Jirou to be alive by the series conclusion, to be honest.

I agree and expect the same, bit I'm sure Jirou is goong to do some crazy ass shit with Setsuno. Seriously, the guy is a monster.

While these developments have been fun, toriko right now reeks of the final developments of shaman king, houshin engi, and kenshin. Introducing lame and similar subboses (the tumors), painting the regular enemy suddenly in a totaly different way, disregarding the goals set up for the end battle.
Kind of hypocrital from jump, making toriko end while bleach shambles forward.
-
I wonder if Blue Nitros' goal is Joa's goal too.
-
I wonder if Blue Nitros' goal is Joa's goal too.
Probably not. The Blue Nitro's goal seemingly, if this chapter is to be believed, is to stop the Acacia/Neo Demon once and for all, while Joa said his/her goal along with Acacia's is to simply 'eat' and reach "The Final Land".
One seems to want to stop the eating while the other wants to do nothing but.
-
Its just me or is the manga rushing to its end?
-
Yeah, this is a rush now. One of the Nitros got killed without having done anything before that, suddenly Nitros aren't that bad, it's final battle time already or so it seems (I seriously DOUBT we're going back to the cooking competition, or going to the individual areas to see how to catch/fight with/ and cook the different ingredients now that Tumor Acacias are on the loose. . .), and it's just. . .everything is so unnecessarily convulted. The whole plan to cook Neo is uber convulted. All these evil fellas that use Joa to brainwash half of the named cast? They just want to seal a demon. Cooking a planet to seal a demon, or something. Or not?
I don't even know anymore, honestly.
And, yeah, everything is ULTRA badass and everything, and on that level, it's all enjoyable and fun. But I can't help but feel all of these sudden developments should've needed 1-a bit more work and 2-a bit less convultedness for the sake of convultedness.
-
Its just me or is the manga rushing to its end?
it surely feels like.. it's as if we won't get to explore remaining 5 areas.. it's just cooking battle in are 6, fight nitro, eat the full course everyone gathered (they'll split it), and defeat acacia..
-
Yeaaah Toriko's probably donezo. Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing the rest of the gourmet world too. Now suddenly there're only a couple days until the world ends. Jesus.
Whatever, it's fine. The art is still absolutely spectacular and seeing all the top players go crazy is fun so I probably won't complain too much. -
Did you guys forget Dressrosa lasted 1 day in universe? There is still chance we see what every duo is doing in each area. And Air is dead, so what? Not making any promises about how many chapters remains but still…

It killed Ichiryu.

It's not about lenght, it's about the plot progression. If someone said during dressrosa "Oh the one piece is here, and Doflamingo is now your ally, but Blackbeard and Akainu are comming, here take this secret cache of phoneglyphs!" you'd feel the heat.
-
It stepped on a dead man. Ichiryu was done for anyways.
He would have survived had it not been for AIR. Ichiryu was NEO's biggest threat, so while AIR's part in the story may not have been very big, his contribution was still significant in the grand scheme of things.

This, basically.
Plus "and the weapons of mass destruction are to be used in a ritual to invoke Roger and make him puke 7 pieces of the God of Pirates' rotten body that, when united, will allow a fat american guy to become the President of the United St. . .wait, wrong manga". But you catch the drift.

Well, yeah, ok. But he should've interacted more or shown something else before dying. Just like that Vice President of the IGO.

Guys, I just stumbled across the Gold Tin that they mentioned in this chapter by accident:

16 chars of Nice Catch.

Jirou's Rampaging Beast mode is as scary as hell. But I'm really worried for his life, less for Midora's, because he has to eat Acacia's Full Course with Toriko.
-
So thats what the freaking CAN is for. God i was waiting for an explanation for that thing. I never thought itd be THIS important. Holy what.
-
Say, does that explains why we didn't saw Jirou's Gourmet Demon until now?
-
Yeah, I wouldn't have tought anything about the can, but this month someone posted something about it in the last thread, so it was fresh in my mind.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Say, does that explains why we didn't saw Jirou's Gourmet Demon until now?
That's closer to what they talked about last chapter, Jiro knocked it. Notice the change of hair color.
-
Atom was the fake Kaka, right?
Another great chapter, I got Netero vibes when Jirou stabbed his heart to unlock his seal, those Blue Nitros are about to get raped.
Zit vs Bambina was a nice cliffhanger, I hope we get to see Zit fighting the other 8 Kings.
-
It's a shame, bit I'll just enjoy the craziness for what it is for however long it will last :)
-
What is the purpose of that rifle anyway?
-
Probably is the knocking item that can work on himself.
-
Wait, so If Acacia/Neo went into the back channel, chances are that he is gonna emerge at Blue Grill because he was attracted by the scent of the high-level cooking that's currently taking place there. The fact that he already sent 7 of his monster blobs to each remaining area makes me think that he is going for somehing other than the food treasures. He might even encounter Moon if he chooses to emerge at Area 6. I guess we will then see just how strong the strongest of the 8 kings really is.
And is no one bothered by Atom just bending his beak outwards and growing spikes all over his body? Also, what is Jirou going to transform into? That panel where he looks all twisted and distorted is creepy on a whole new level.
-
It seems Shima has enter a competition with his own self.
I hope rampaging Jirou won't totally lose the chill attitude of regular Jirou. He is pretty skinny. He better have an awesome fight with Neo before he dies. I wonder if he is suppose to have a gourmet monster? I'd rather not but even the president had one.
So I guess the nitros are gonna get destroyed to hype Jirou some more.
Since the blob is gonna face monkey king maybe the other blobs will fight on the other continents the kings and the heavenly are going to team up.
-
Could Jirou be the Legendary Wolf who ate the death gore?
-
What a chapter, however I still think you guys are over reacting with the series ending, we are going to space after all.
-
What a chapter, however I still think you guys are over reacting with the series ending, we are going to space after all.
Says who? That might be the ultimate plan, to be thwarted in the end by Toriko and co. Nothing is for sure.
-
Sigh, I've been holding my tongue with Toriko for a while, after all how many times every week can you go "Huh?" or "What?" or "What's going on?" but we've hit a nadir with this series.
I remember when this series was just a nice, simple adventure about two guys travelling the world and trying to taste the most delicious food in the world. Since then it's just devolved into this weird, extremely convoluted series full of conspiraces and summoning rituals and food spirits and back channels and I don't know what else. There's no longer any sense of coherency or internal logic, each chapter no longer has anything to do with the chapter precedeing it, it's just one big ball of a mess. I…just don't care. Can we get that simple series back again? Can we get Toriko punching Tommyrod in the gut with his stump? Can we go get some BB popcorn? Can we just simplify things back to that strong, visceral, primal, two guys just wanna eat food and fight crazy animals feeling?
I'm supposed to just turn off my brain and enjoy the ridiculousness of the action but that's the thing, the manga won't let me, because for every cool, badass moment that surfaces, it's immediately burried by a ton of weird technical jargon and conspiracy bullshit that I don't give a shit about. There's no longer any sense of fun, direction or ambition.
One of my favorite series of all time is Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, a series where the mangaka is infamous for making shit up as he went along, but you know, he did it well. He kept things simple, he focused on the characters and their motivations, he set clear goal posts to work towards and we were always with out heroes every step of the way, most of the time, the awesome badassery wasn't just due to some ridiculous concept (though there were a lot of those, believe me) but through the strength of our characters persevering through their trials, there was a lot of fun shit but there was a lot of substance to it as well, you had a reason to care and be invested.
Here, I find no reason to care or be invested. It's just a lot of shaking keys in our faces without any care or craft. There is a way to do a fun, simple, turn your brain off series, Toriko is not the way.
-
On the bright side, this is the first time I've gotten to watch a series go from mindlessly entertaining to absolute dreck in real-time.
-
Man I bet next chapter will be uploaded on porntube first…
-
The chapter made it sound like Atom is the strongest of the BN. And that was the fake Kaka, if I remember right.
7 NEO, one per continent. The world is doomed, and the cast is facing the greatest of the crisis.
-
And here I am, still enjoying the series.
-
Its just me or is the manga rushing to its end?
I think I'm going to use this quite often.
-
Jiro vs 5 blue nitro what will happen?
-
I appreciate that Shima followed through on this little detour, and the art and imagery is quite interesting, but I still feel kinda lost with this sudden info overload; Lost in the sense that I have no idea if we've suddenly kicked the series into the endgame, or if we're gonna go back and finish Area 6, and proceed through the other areas in order. With 7 Langoliers being sent off, one for each area, it does seem like shit is going down very soon for all the widespread kings and Heavenly kings, but even for Toriko this seems blisteringly fast paced, so I just don't know: I mean, it was only in chapter 323 that Kaka told us of the World being cooked and the demon in Acacia, and then just 12 chapters later, there he is, and takes center stage. If nothing else, I'm very, very curious what is going to happen once we get back to Komatsus side of the story.
-
Obviously, it means we're going to space.
No, seriously now. When in time continuity, there's something called narration panels of the sort "a few hours earlier" or "sometime before this series of events".
To me this is just the author setting things up for the eventual clash with the big bad, which I'm fine with.
