I think it would be pretty interesting Tashigi would most likely refuse to be Smokers partner anymore so if Smokerd did become a Pirate Captain who'd you tihnk would be his crew?
What if Smoker became a Pirate.

I'm kinda surprised he isn't a pirate, the way he admired Roger.
-
He just wouldn't thats allโฆ
I could never see him as one...
but if by some cracky chance he did... he'd be a white beard I feel.
-
Smoker would most likely wanna start he own crew I think. Smoker never seemed to admire getting orders.

Yeah but if he had a really high rank in white beards I think that would suit him.
-
that would be cool if hed join the migwara or at least help them
spoilers for those who arent up to the dbf
also what do u think smokers message was to luffy.
-
I think Smoker may try & take over another strong crew by beating the captain.
-
Smoker as a pirate? Not likely, I'd say. He's too full of "justice" to take the side of "lawlessness." I can, however, see him siding with Luffy once he hears of all the shit those old bats of the WG have done. Maybe, when the Mugiwara are on their way to Raftel, he'll block the way of the impending Buster Call? I can absolutely see him kicking ass and taking names if he thinks his justice is being impeded.
Remember, Smoker's roughly equal to Ace, Croc, etc. thanks to his martial artistry and the Moku Moku. He may even be better than those two, as smoke doesn't have an openly-apparent counter (to me, at least). If he wasn't so flippant and wasn't telling everyone and their mother to fuck off, then we'd probably be seeing another Admiral here, or perhaps a Vice-Admiral. For being a "mere" Captain, he's a top-tier Fruit-user.
โฆ And then there's Tashigi. Would she join him in insurrection, against a corrupt government? I can see it. Would his men follow? They could either insurrect against the biggest force of manpower in the world, or get whomped on by Smoker and Tashigi, so they don't have many good options either way. All I know is, I would like to see Smoker fight back against these assholes. Him, Tashigi, and T-BONE!!! I want him to come back so bad. Those three together could make a kickass team.
... This post is too long. Ending it now. :ninja:
-
Lol good posts are good but if they get too long it gets too rediculious but that wasn't really that long, I just think if he saw things through Luffy's eyes he'd start having thoughts is all, but inorder for him to actually make a choice to become a pirate some short of shit would have to happen within the Marine's which he would have to catch full scent of.
-
Well, I think if it becomes clear Marine Justice isn't Real Justice (which seems to be a growing theme), I can see him busting out a few low-level pirates who were mis-punished in order to express defiance, and perhaps starting in a pirate-like style as so.
The flag would be all-white, with the justice kanji in red.

What if Luffy became a Marine?
-
Nope. Smoker seems like the kind of guy who would stay with the Marines and try to weed out the corruption inside. He might be a little lienant to the Straw Hats if they are working together, like he doesn't arrest them on the spot and maybe even give them a head start but that's about it.
He knows that there are corrupt officials but if all of the good marines leave, like him, Tashigi, T-Bone, and to a lesser extent, Hina, then there would be no true justice, only justice that benefits certain people.
-
Would'nt ao kiji be a good guy from what I've seen their's no sign of corruption on his part
-
Something I find confusing is that Smoker is sometimes reffered to as Captain Smoker. Why is he being called a captain when he is not a pirate?

I think a big question is the nature of the Marine.
Is it fundamentally a good organization that has a few, or even a large number, of crooks?
Did it start good and gradually turn into a tool of repression?
Is it from day 1 a "let's be corrupt and threaten people" society which inadvertently invited a few good people in.
Perhaps that's part of the true history fearsโ they might report that the Marine wasn't formed in the public's best interest, which would send the true believers in justice out the door.

So it isn't obvious it's a Navy/Marine rank? Jeez, I seem to find myself finding too many stupid people these days.

Watch it. You don't need to jump on him like that, Rama.
-
I dunno, that comment seemed deserving.
-
I may very well agree that Usopp With a Pushpop could've just checked Stephen's scripts, or did a general search, but it doesn't entirely excuse the flame.
It's no big deal, but he still should've have the presence of mind not to openly flame like that.

Forget it. I've been trying to reason with him about the flaming milliions of times in the "Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer" thread. He probably doesnt realize it himself. Its probably a bad habit he grew a custom too.
Anyway, I think it would be cool if Smoker was a pirate and follow in the foot steps of his hero Gold Roger. He would definitely be one of the strongest, maybe even be one of the 7 shibikas(sp?)
-
Umโฆ I don't remember Smoker ever saying his hero was Roger. Could I get a quote from the manga here?
-
I see Smoker making his own crew because the Marines have become to corupt. I think he will make a crew and go around destroing pirates. He would do the things that the marines should do but he would do it better. But the marines would get pissed and then they would give him a bounty and he would technequley become a pirate. Other than that no I dont see him joining any other crew because he hates pirates and is way to egosentric to take orders.

He never said he was his hero. But if you look he tells luffy that you're not good enough to shine his shoes or something like that. Also the emotion on his face when he saw roger.

Yah thats what I meant. You could tell from Smoker's expression that he really admired Roger, so to me it looked like Roger was Smoker's hero.
-
If we saw the smoker flashback first then I'm sure most people would have assumed that he bacame a pirate.
-
If smoker did idolize roger what made him become a marine,is there a possible turning point in his life that made him belive in justice

Not idolizes admires. He probaley likes how he doesn't fear death. But for all we know smoker is a marine for a different reason than to kick pirate ass.
-
That's true really wish we had some more insight on his past maybe a flashback chapter in the future after water7

I like the 'rogue Justice' idea and the suggestion for their flag. A showdown with Luffy before Raftel would also be cool. Then again, just having Smoker head for Raftel to blockade it from pirates (and the corrupt gov't.) would be cool enough.
-
The only way of Smoker becoming a pirate is if the gov't realized he's to much of a outlaw and they put a bounty on his head for disobeying the gov't and not following rules like some kind of DOG.
-
In a way, couldn't Gol D. Roger be the ultimate example of proper justice, as Smoker sees it?
A pirate so powerful as to command the respect of (all but) everyone could keep order as well as any other authority figure. I doubt anyone would cross the pirate king at his peak, and he could easily force noble goals like "Robin Hood" style piracy and using pirate power as a hedge against the WG's worst behaviour.
-
This thought as been dancing in my head for about a month now. I doubt that Smoker would EVER become a pirate. But he would be a pritty sweet one none the less.
