http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-04-18/4kids-plans-sale-of-major-yu-gi-oh-assets-to-firm-tied-to-saban http://www.c21media.net/archives/80648 A new Delaware-based outfit affiliated with Saban Capital Group is set to buy the Yu-Gi-Oh! animé brand from New York’s 4Kids Entertainment for US$10m. Documents 4Kids filed to the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York this week show KidsCo Media Ventures (understood to be unrelated to the KidsCo TV channel) has made a “stalking horse” offer to buy rights to the Yu-Gi-Oh! business.4Kids’ filing noted it would auction off its assets. The US$10m offer will be used as a “floor price” for other bidders, though C21 understands from a source close to the company there are no other runners at the moment and that the pair has been in exclusive talks for some time.
4Kids remains in bankruptcy protection until the end of May, before the auction takes place on June 5. A closing date for a sale is cited for June 30. As a stalking horse bidder, KidsCo would be entitled to compensation from that firm should it lose out at this stage.
KidsCo has the same Delaware address as Haim Saban’s investment firm Saban Capital Group, and Saban’s president and chief operating officer Adam Chesnoff and executive VP Niveen Tadros are named in the documents. Furthermore, the documents show Saban Capital subsidiary Saban Properties will act as a guarantor for KidsCo.
The deal would give it broadcast and licensing rights to Yu-Gi-Oh!, which 4Kids regained access to after winning a court case against the show’s Japanese producers, ADK, Nihon Ad Systems and TV Tokyo, earlier this year, a ruling that also significantly boosted its coffers.
Also included in the deal are 52 library episodes of Dragon Ball Z, 26 of Cubix and 52 of Viva Piñata, plus the ad revenues from the programming block the firm provides The CW. However, UK-based sales subsidiary 4Kids International is not included.
4Kids court win last month saw it recognised as the official broadcasting, L&M and home video rights holder for the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand outside of Asia. The company was forced into bankruptcy protection a year earlier to prepare for the case.
Saban Buys Yu Gi Oh!

I saw 'Cubix' towards the bottom and had a nostalgia-gasasm.I loved that cartoon!
-
So long as this leads to the coveted uncut DVD sets with Dual Audio.
-
Shouldn't the title be changed to be more general about this purchase? More importantly it would probably be best to move this in the general media thread of Other Anime/Manga section.
-
There's a general media of Anime/Manga?
-
This reminds me. Saban will buy The CW Kids Block! I hope he buys back Digimon from Disney. True, his dubs werent that good, but the promotion he gave to each show was awesome! The Promo's were almost Toonami like!
Also Toonzaki (4kids Good Side) said this:
RE: Other recent news - May 31st was the deadline for potential investors/buyers to get their bids in. Another bid has been accepted. BEGIN WILD SPECULATION NOW!
I hope its Funimation.
-
Saban confirms they own the block to Rangercrew
-
Please buy digimon saban
-
I hope they air Time Force uncut, but I doubt it.
-
There will be aYu Gi Oh zexal marathon in 2 weeks.
-
A WWE show will air on the Vortex.
-
Meh. The only thing 4kids did right was Pokemon, mostly anyway. I sure do miss the old voice actors.

And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
-
And Yu-Gi-Oh, that was super successful too.
-
Now I want the Digimon first season DVD with dual audio (assuming something like that exists). '-'
-
Season 1 is getting a DVD this October.

But its English dub only.
-
I know, can't wait!
-
I was talking to Enzeru, but YAY for you!
-
And Yu-Gi-Oh, that was super successful too.
Successful yeah good anime dub ehhhhhh…....I mean Pokemon was a mostly competent dub or at least I used to think so until Robby further explained the follies of all the things that were wrong with 4Kid's Pokemon dub. With Yu-Gi-Oh everything outside of the voice acting was awful. Leaving me to wonder if not for the fact that it was a merchandise driven property would it had been equally as successful.
-
When I was a kid I really got into the show and never once bought a single card. Regardless of what ever one thinks, it was still possible to get into the show with the 4kids Dub. And when you're in the demographic it is in, acting quality is the last thing on your mind.
-
^Agreed but of course once you get older things start to stick out like a sore thumb.
-
Can Yu-Gi-Oh just die already. It was cheesy fun when it first aired, let it rest in peace already.

This so much.
and I think the sales doesn't include the TCG, since that's done by Konami?
The story died in GX as far as I'm concerned.
The TCG practically died in synchro era, and XYZ is killing whatever's left of that. -

5Ds was awesome. By far the best series in the franchise. Zexal is pretty mediocre though.
-
Yup, they should reair 5D's someday.
-
I love this promo, except the burps and all.
And I like that they show punches to the face.

Not before taking Pokemon & Digimon with it.
-
And thus that is not going to happen.
-
I wonder what will american kids think of the Super Saiyan Fusion.
-
They are gonna LOL.

Digimon Xros Wars, like Digimon Savers before it, will be undergoing a title change for the English dub. From page 78 of theTV Kids Distributors Guide, the new title will be Digimon Fusion. It seems incredibly likely it will be going to the Vortexx on the CW IMO. Now it's a question of when it will premiere, and what time slot will the show be given on the Vortexx.
