And yes, they removed them. But only after LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOADS of complaining from sane people who dont defend bullshit.

RE: If 4kids never dubbed One Piece
Ok this is what I have to say.
If 4Kids never got it FUNimation would've released it in 2003 or 2004. It would've premiered on Toonami and gotten great ratings right from the get-go, unlike how it bombed on Saturday mornings. Then "Naruto" would've come out, and be the true hit it had been on Toonami in first place. "One Piece" would be pretty popular but to a lesser extent than "Naruto". For those that say that "One Piece" just doesn't have that mass-market appeal on American television, and for those that think that if 4Kids never happened "One Piece" would've become a smash hit, well, I believe it's really somewhere in the middle.
"Claps"
So true….

RE: If 4kids never dubbed One Piece
@RobbyBevard I really don't call 10:00 on a Saturday night a decent time slot. Especially since it had no advertisement and didn't let the viewers know there was a change in cast and a dialogue (a promo with some of the new voices would been nice to let people know of this). I mean one second it was 4kids, next second, BOOM, Funimation. I think that threw a lot of viewers off due to the jarring change.
So no, Funimation One Piece did not get a fair chance on US TV in any way, shape or form. Not by a long shot.
I love you. So Much.

@RobbyBevard:
They did.
They did. And in a decent timeslot.
It didn't.
I meant from the BEGGINING in 2004.
And you call that Timeslot "Decent".How funny. Had it been adquired in 2004 and shown weekday afternoons and late night, it would have been a hit. I know it.
Oh and faithfully dubbed. Which Funimation would have done at that point.

RE: If 4kids never dubbed One Piece
I honestly believe that 4Kids gutting of One Piece was THE reason for anime's overall downfall in popularity. Had One Piece been successful, along with Naruto (Not More, just along Naruto)it would have opened the gates for a brand new anime boom and we would be seeing more non toyetic anime in the west.However, Once the "Unsinkable" Smash Hit crashed all that potential was lost forever and TV Networks in general now have a barely concealed disdain for anime.
Also, you guys seriously overrate Naruto's popularity. You guys seem to think that if an anime is not as Popular as Naruto, it is wortless and that's a great Injustice. I think One Piece COULD have been big, no, HUGE! Not as big as Naruto but problably as popular as Digimon. And that's not bad at all!

@400MillionBelis:
Blessings comes in many forms.
As horrid 4kids dub is, the amount of work and faith put into the funimation ones wouldn't be the same if they got it first.
Of course not.
But It WOULD have gotten to CN faster, and it would have been a hit.

RE: Dragonball Discussion
Yay for Rin-chan!
I wonder if it was Saban Brands who did the investment to continue Kai….Nah.
It was probably the fact that Toei Animation doesnt have any other franchises to promote overseas.

RE: Dreamworks and Fox To Make New Kids Channel!?
I do find it kind of funny that Fox Kids' main stays such as Power Rangers and Digimon come back to Saturday mornings, and their old channel starts plans for a new block. Its going to be weird with Fox's strongest franchises being competitors with Fox.
Yeah me too…Unless Saban inks a deal with Dreamworks to show Power Rangers and Digimon on that channel.

RE: If 4kids never dubbed One Piece
@RobbyBevard:
For all that everyone blames 4Kids for destroying the show, even with Funi helming it at the start it still wouldn't have done that well on TV, its just too weird looking to attract a mainstream audience. It was never going to be Naruto or DBZ, its just too strange and overly colorful. (though now we're in a post-Adventure Time world… if it was timeslotted next to that it might have a chance.)
It'd still get released in box sets and it would probably be pretty much the same situation as it is now with the simul-releases and the boxsets... though perhaps a bit further along.
Realistically, the biggest difference of note is we'd probably still have Zoro in the Viz manga translations rather than Zolo since the licensing department would work differently.
I think that it COULD have been a contender. If Funimation had gotten it and aired on CN it could have reached Naruto levels of popularity.
