Oh yeah, speaking of V3, supposedly they're including another anime episode with it, which is the time between DR2 and the end of DR3 for the Jabberwock crew.
My distaste for the anime, aside, figured you guys might be interested in that.

I can only say that Gonta is totally gonna be a victim.
i just want the big guy to survive for once
is that so much to ask?
My faves are Folklorist, Entomologist, and Inventor. 100% guarantee they'll all die.
Why don't we guess the culprit?
I say it's the magician or teacher
The culprit is Pianist, imo
Her casting is too oddball for her to not be
A villain protagonist would be weird tho.
Won't that be like
! DR 2 all over again? Izuru kind of was the reason for Junko
The entomologist is too cool to not die. Same with folklorist. I can see the robot dying in a late chapter.
Dictator looks like an asshole. I bet he survives.
The robot's the main character, so I don't think he'll die that easily.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Hmm, actually I'm not sure anymore at all. I thought he was due to prominence in the cover, but I can't find anything confirming it? Trailer makes it look like Pianist is MC, but all the early promo material pointed to robot.
Edit: Well, I'll be damned, looks like I was wrong. Sorry about that, haha. I just expected that the biggest ahoge would once again mark the protag. This reframes the cast for me a little.
Kaede's been confirmed to be the protagonist, yeah
Not sure if this was decided recently or if the early promo art work was just a jape, but that's how it is now.
Curious to see what they'll do with her though.
Some people also theorize it may end up with multiple protagonists in the game (maybe after one's died).
Aikido Master is the closest thing to a female character I wanted in this franchise.
I wonder if there will be a time in the game that the main talent of Kaede will play a role. Maybe as a Class Trial feature.

Yeah, I saw the wiki pointing out the multiple ahoges for what that's worth (it's the wiki, so lawl). It doesn't have to mean anything, I just know Kodaka loves his ahoges on protagonists, to the point where Makoto's sister, Komaru, and Toko were given them when elevated to protagonists.
Well, you did it take control of Nagito at some point in DR2. But Hajime was still alive.
It might also fit with the whole 5 new Monokumas thing.

What does "Gift below 2/4/5 Hope Fragments" mean?
Hope Fragment is kind os a Social Link. Each time you spend time to someone you win a Hope Fragment. So like after 2 Hope Fragment you give items below 4 hope fragment and goes on.
I'm still not clear on how the items themselves are related to the number of hope fragments.
We got voices, folks!
! Sayaka Kanda as Kaede Akamatsu, the Ultimate Pianist
Hikaru Midorikawa as Rantarō Amami, the Ultimate ???
Haruka Ishida as Miu Iruma, the Ultimate Inventor
Hiro Shimono as Kokichi Ōma, the Ultimate Supreme Ruler
Tetsuya Kakihara as Kiibo, the Ultimate Robot
Shunsuke Takeuchi as Gonta Gokuhara, the Ultimate Entomologist
Megumi Hayashibara as Shūichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective
Mikako Komatsu as Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer
Kenichi Suzumura as Korekiyo Shingūji, the Ultimate Folklorist
Sora Tokui as Tenko Chabashira, the Ultimate Aikido Master

Minori Suzuki as Angie Yonaga, the Ultimate Fine Artist

Kouichi Yamadera as the Monokumas Monodamu, Monosuke, Monotarō, Monofanii, and Monokiddo
! They got the gal who played Junko on stage as the MC? That might lead to something.
I am personally quite glad that they got Akio Otsuka as the weird cartoon guy
good casting
Featuring LittleKuriboh as Hajime.
UPDATE:
Looks like the tennis dude is one of the murderers. Is Franky's voice actor doing the guy with the goatee?
I'd be OK if that is the only episode of the abridged thing.
so i guess Kaito is the shithead comic relief that survives against the odds

If thats the case, I hope he's better than Yasuhiro (meh) and Kazuichi (Fuck that guy).
Apparently somebody messed up and left an outtake in the dub ending of DR3 http://kuroinekomimix.tumblr.com/post/152385313696/wait-whaaaaattt-did-i-hear-that-right-okay
If there was ever an outtake to leave, it would be that one
Talking about shitty DR3 dubbing: "IZURU KAMAKURA YAAS QUEEN!!!"
shitty?
that line makes Side: Despair worth it if you ask me

I guess if you at look at it from a campy angle, maybe. Despair and Future were both pretty bad, so I guess you have to find positives in it somehow.
So guys, out of Zero Escape 3 or DR3, which do you think was better? Granted, they were both bad, but all the stuff associated with Sigma in ZE3 was pretty great, in my opinion, so I choose ZE3.
Well one is a murder-mystery drama anime whereas the other is a sci-fi mystery video game…...the only similarities they seem to have is their divisiveness.
Basically it's like asking do you prefer to eat dry bland tasting food or do you like eating food that's been burnt.
ZE3 was the worst movie/book I ever payed 40 dollars for
DR3 on the other hand i experienced at no expense and had actual laughs at
Ztd is horrendous.
It's how not to write a science fiction 101.
I can't bash that game enough.
new video showing of more of the cast
!
DON'T DIE YOU PRECIOUS CHILD
!
another cast video
Korekiyo is officially the Ultimate Anthropologist, not Folklorist like early translations pegged him as
Maki is also the Ultimate Caregiver, rather than a Daycare Worker or Kindergarten Teacher
I suposse it makes sense. How can a 16 Year-Old be a teacher anyway? Also really? Folklorist? That is worse than a Clairyvoyant.
Final character trailer, along with some backstory blurbs
! Ryoma (Tennis Player) was on Death Row for going on a killing spree against the yakuza using a steel tennis ball.
! Kaito (Astronaut) has never even been to space, he fakes his documents all the through and when they found out, they kept him around because fuck it, it's funny
! Yumeno (Magician) is basically like "no magic is real i'm just out of MP right now" but she's still a world-acclaimed stage magician with tricks that even other professionals can't work out
! Angie (Artist) is more or less a cultist for a vague "God of the Island" her art tends to be offerings to this god and she also makes blood sacrifces to her artpieces to appease this god.
Hey mods, when this game is released in Japanese, could we close this thread until the English release is made available?

It's funny considering this thread was originally created because of a Let's Play in SomethingAwful.

Um… anyone who wants to talk about the series here should be able to, that's a really selfish request....
Anyone who wants to talk about it during that time will just have to spoiler their spoilers.
well the demo's out and we already know the first victim
! jk it's hagakure again just like the DR1 demo

I guess so. I was just hoping the sentiment was shared. Sigh…..
Hello, all. I finished Chapter 1 and I'm at the beginning of Chapter 2. Thoughts so far:
Not really spoilers:
! *The first chapter twist is a good one ^_^. Having said that though, you can probably guess what it might be.
*Half of the female cast annoys me, especially the girl who only ever talks about praying to her God, and the dumb little magician girl. The aikido girl is also just annoying for a really disappointing reason. Gonta (the brawny entomologist) and Ouma (the most glib character ever–evil leader of a secret society!!) are my favorites so far.
*This is my first time playing a DR game myself, and what I feared about the gameplay was on the money--it's just a hindrance to my enjoyment of the story. The whole WE SWEAR WE'RE NOT ACE ATTORNEY bullet thing was always utterly unconnected to it being about figuring things out--a pointless gimmick. I especially hate time limits, in any game, but especially for a game where you need to think. So I'm just going through the trials using a walkthrough.
Real spoilers
! *The twist is that the player character was the first killer, and it's pulled off incredibly brilliantly. Almost SDR2 Ch. 5 level "I would have never come up with this in a million years." After a certain point, the things Akamatsu was shown to be doing alongside her newfound friend, SHSL Detective Saihara, seemed perfectly normal to the player because none of them would have anyone except the shrewdest players thinking they'd be linked to a murder method.
*It's also amazing from the perspective of building the perfect emotional impact. Akamatsu, the player character, didn't kill out of spite, but rather in the hopes of killing the mastermind. She let the trial go on in the hopes of catching the true mastermind after her murder method killed someone who ended up being innocent, with the full intention of revealing herself as the killer eventually and saving everyone, but not before entrusting her will to the REAL player character, Saihara. In the prior two installments, the killers didn't get a whole lot of build up, but this time you literally PLAYED as her, and witnessed her past, her dreams, her relationship with Saihara and all of her efforts to fight against Monokuma.
*I think the truly brilliant thing about the whole beginning of the game is that it's built around things players often say they'd do if they were in the characters' position. Why don't they just work together and go after the mastermind from the get-go? Why doesn't the main character corral everyone with inspiring speeches to prevent them from falling into mutual distrust? Etc. etc. Well, she did all of that, and it resulted in disaster.
*If I had one complaint with Chapter 1, it's that the first murder itself was a bit on the meh side. That execution, though, WOW
