Pretty sure they confirmed it somewhere, but yeah. It's still four people since that's what they showed on the gameplay video.

Hey not all us started hating on them just cause EA bought them up and because of the excessive butthurt over Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3.

New info:
Source: Neogaf and Dragonage-game.de! The german Fansite Dragonage-game.de has made summary about the GameStar Preview.
! Two new companions:
! -The bald elf mage called Solas who is an apostate and a Fade expert.
! -The Qunari Iron Bull. David Gaider describes him with this words: He fears nothing, only the past.
! -GameStar saw also an archer (likely Sera).
! -The Inquisitor can make his/her own rifts in the fade and summon demons.
! -No fade puzzles (transformations) like Origins.
! -Two voice actors for each gender.
! -Skyhold or Homebase system. You will also be able to customize certain rooms and buy upgrades, like a garden to grow plants for alchemy. The journalist also suspects that there will be a "map room", where you can allocate troops to open new trade routes or occupy outposts.
! -Dynamic wildlife. If you kill all the wolves in a forest they are gone for a while. In the same forest another player can met deers.
! -New enemy: Giants, they're like Darkspawn ogres and throw rocks.
! -A dragon is especially vulnerable on the head.
! -The Protagonist can actively jump but not climb.
! -Morrigan will make an appearance but won't be a party member. The same goes for Hawke and the Warden.
! The pros:
! -Large and beautiful areas.
! -Elaborated tactical camera.
! -Challenging fights.
! -Savegame import (Dragon Age: Keep)So based on that, these seem to be the 7 out of 9 companions confirmed.
!
My opinions
! Seems like pretty much all the characters that have reoccured in the concept art are getting confirmed. The bearded grey warden guy I don't think has been confirmed yet, but he's been one of the most reoccuring characters in the artwork and was used as an example for showing the armor equipping system. Don't really like the idea of the warden and hawke reappearing since there's no way you can take into account all the possible personalities you could have given the warden, but I'm interested in how they're going to handle the warden's appearance. Hawke's easy since s/he's always human and has default faces. The warden didn't really have much of default faces and could be multiple races and genders.
! Also pretty surprised on the two voice actors per gender if that's true. That's a lot of time and money spent doing voice acting over again just to have one more option. -
[hide]So far, I'm thinking my team is going to be mostly Cassandra, Varric, and Vivienne. Obviously, time will tell and I don't even know who I'm going to romance yet, but I'm looking forward to the game non-the-less.
The reappearance of the Grey Warden and Hawke makes me wonder if they'll use the previous models of both characters that you made. Doubtful, but it would be cool.
Blonde elf chick looks hilariously awesome, but I have a feeling she's going to be a Rogue. I don't think I can give up Varric's slot so easily.[/hide]

! All importing is being done through the Dragon Age Keep, and I believe it's been confirmed that you can't customize your characters there, so pretty sure it'll just be custom made models for each. Just interesting since Hawke should only need two models while the warden would need about six.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet.
! I think that makes our first bald companion. (lol) And the qunari sounds freaking awesome. I mean, Iron Bull? How awesome a name is that? Although with a name like Iron Bull that means he must be a Tal Vashoth. Aka: Qunari Exile/Heretic. This guy don't sound like no Sten.
! Archer? Sera? What did I miss?
! Create rifts in the fade and summon demons? Yeessssss . . . . . . . .
! Thank you. Although considering the conflict I'd be very surprised if we DON'T enter the fade at least once.
! TWO voice actors? This . . . . . doesn't have to do with being able to choose to be a Qunari, does it?
! My little girly heart just "kyaaa"-ed. Bioware gave me a dollhouse.
! Cool. Although who would be a jackass and kill all the animals?
! Yes! Giants. This fantasy game was missing a staple. The only question is: How big?
! Good to know there's actual tactics know for dragons rather than just "Hit it! Hit it!"
! Holy . . . . . . . . . that means we can actually MOVE over the terrain?
! We knew that about Morrigan, but yay for Hawke and the Warden! I just wonder if the Warden will talk, or just sit there are stare. I think we knew about all the rest, from previous articles and other videos.
! Just from that one picture of the elf mage he looks kinda . . . . . . meh. But I can't be sure until I get a proper picture. Just from the concept art the elf girl looks fantastic, and the human guy (Grey Warden?) looks . . . . . . like a dwarf from the waist up. Hah. We saw Iron Bull in the trailer, and we know he's going to be badass.! Just interesting since Hawke should only need two models while the warden would need about six.
! If you can import your past saves then you should be able to import your Hawke/Warden's previous design. Isn't that what the whole point of the Keep is for? To help those of us who want to import our saves from our previous games but want to play on the next-gen consoles?

More information:
Source: BSN! 1. There will be 5 regions in Dragon Age: Inquisition: Fereldan, The Free Marches, Orlais, Nevarra and the Dales:
! * 2 of the areas you can expect to visit are; a war-torn region in Orlais and an elven burial ground, known as the Emerald Graves.- The Emerald Graves, according to executive producer Mark Darrah, is where the Dalish Elves planted one tree for every soldier killed in the Exalted Marches.
- According to the magazine, while enemy levels don't scale to your characters, you can affect environmental changes to drastically influence local settlements, establish trade routes, capture territory and disrupt the local ecosystem.
- Wild flora and fauna, useful for crafting can be hunted to scarcity, allowing other species to proliferate.
- Defeating intelligent enemies like bandits or dragons will have a significant effect on a given region.
! 2. Dragon Age Inquisition Companions:
! * There will be no DLC Companions: According to Creative Director Mike Laidlaw: "Because of how deeply enmeshed in the system companion characters are, we can't just add them on the fly; part of them has to be shipped on the disc…which was led to criticism that we're forcing people to pay for content they already own. It's not the case, but we've decided this time to not go that route. There will be no DLC party members."- Solas is an apostate and an expert on the Fade.
- The Iron Bull is confirmed as a companion, who is described as "a one-eyed mercenary and outcast from the Qunari faith"
- Sera is confirmed as a companion, and is described as "an elven archer. Little is known about them [referring to both Sera and the Iron Bull] at this point, particularly Sera, who turned up seemingly on accident during one of several combat demonstrations…"
! 3. The Dialogue Wheel:
! * "We have three wheels that we use in response to any given piece of dialogue" says Gaider. "One of those is what we call the 'tone wheel', which is mostly for role-playing choices. The other two are the 'choice wheel'- for taking an action or stating an opinion-and the 'reaction wheel,' for emotional moments"
! 4. The Inquisitor:
! * There will be 4 voices for the Inquisitor 2 for each gender, for all races- To address why the same voices apply to all races, Mike Laidlaw made the following statement: "It's a matter of file size…if we were to have eight voices, two for each race, we would be shipping on 14 discs or something. We figured that with four voices, that would give players enough options while staying within our size limitations"
- Bioware is currently exploring options to differentiate the voices, like changing the pitch of the audio.
- The Prologue Section (or the "Origin" section" will be the same for all players. The player's appearance, class and dialogue responses during the prologue section will fill in the details, presumably of the Inquisitor's background, and in particular inform how other characters respond to you throughout the story.
- The Inquisitor is the sole survivor of a reality-shattering event which results in the Fade tearing opening throughout Thedas.
- "Presumbly as a result [of the Fade tearing open throughout Thedas], you're also endowed with a singular ability: you can close these rifts wherever they appear throughout the continent."
! 5. Endings:
! * "Bioware is promising a staggering 40 possible endings for the game, dependent not only on choices made in character generation but by actions taken throughout the storyline. [Mark] Darrah stresses, however, that the endings will all be meaningfully different from one another. You won't find 40 endings with only slight degrees of variation between them."
! 6. Customization:
! * Armour weights are no longer class specific. Meaning a rogue can wear a mage's robes, and a mage can wear a warrior's armour. The magazine speculates the penalties will be similar to the fatigue penalties used in DA: Origins
! 7. Other information:
! * There will be a jar of bees, which can be used as a combat item which according to Bioware: "You throw it, the jar breaks open, and little bees fly around stinging your opponents." Other info based on tweets and probable characters returnng.! Voice actors for Alistair and Loghain returning. Simon Templeman could be voicing someone else, but I think Bioware generally likes to avoid using big-named voice actors over again unless they can really differentiate their voice. Not sure how good Templeman is at that, but I'm still guessing Loghain'll make an appearance if he's alive based on that.
Sreenshots I found on this site: http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2014/03/24/new-dragon-age-inquisiton-screens-go-big-on-dragons/
Images for two characters:
!
Vivienne rocking out her evil sorceress look on the third column.Opinions based on new info and kinda old info:
! For the areas, Nevarra makes sense since Cassandra has royalty ties there, so I'm guessing she'll have personal quests and links there. Sera's confirmed now, so that only leaves the bearded warden to be officially confirmed. I'm guessing he's in since he's been in about as much concept art as Cassandra and was a model in a gameinformer video I believe. The file size is also a reason I was surprised about the four voice actors and makes me hope that's not too big of a consideration when deciding whether to give the Inquisitor more dialogue and such.
! Not too surprised about the Inquisitor having a special power from the event. That explains why the inquisitor has to be around for the story, though it still doesn't explain why s/he's leading the inquisition and not, say, Cassandra. I wonder if they'll actually go with the inquisitor being merged with a spirit, the inquisitor being a spirit that possessed the inquisitor's body and got his/her memories, or some variation of that.
! There's been some talk about the usual critiquing Solas's opinion and only doing so by attractiveness making people shallow, but in my opinion, I'll honestly say from the pics we got, he looks pretty bland. Maybe a better close-up will look better, but as it is, it feels like he could fit in as an npc that asked you to go collect plants in the woods. I suppose there's an appeal in that, but mostly, he just doesn't really stick out like the other characters do. Vivienne without her hat with her buzzcut look in comparison looks really cool and leaves an impression.
! A troll was confirmed a while back. The giant in the images from the magazine might actually be the troll they were talking about. I also expect the 40 endings statement to mean about the same as Origins or maybe like Fallout where you have different slides that talk about what happened in specific regions or to people depending on your choices.
! Obligatory Nicholas Cage beeeeeeeeees joke–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! If you can import your past saves then you should be able to import your Hawke/Warden's previous design. Isn't that what the whole point of the Keep is for? To help those of us who want to import our saves from our previous games but want to play on the next-gen consoles?
! The point of the keep is to be responsible for making the saves to import for all Dragon Age games from now on. If it can't be made on its own in the keep, I don't think it'll be included. The keep also helps with save bugs such as Zevran always showing up in DAII even if you killed him or Awakening killing off Nathaniel even if he lived.

! Hey, five regions as opposed to just one! Sweet! All hail Next Gen disc size! I particularly look forward to Nevarra and the rest of The Free Marches (Starkhaven? Sebastian? Please?). Anything Dalish is also welcome.
! The fact that you actually have to gather stuff for crafting is interesting. I can see this being kind of a chore for some. And kind of a hidden environmental message. But an interesting one!! 2. Dragon Age Inquisition Companions:

! That sounds like a very complicated dialogue wheel. It doesn't really surprise me about the Inquisitor's voice. I mean, what were we expecting? I never expected anything that complicated. The prologue section sounds . . . . . . fun.
! 5. Endings:
! * "Bioware is promising a staggering 40 possible endings for the game, dependent not only on choices made in character generation but by actions taken throughout the storyline. Vivienne without her hat with her buzzcut look in comparison looks really cool and leaves an impression.! Eh, the spirit merge has been done twice already (Wynne, Anders), it's getting old. Bioware should come up with something new.
! And yes, Solas is VERY bland. He does nothing for me. I just hope his character makes up for it. And Vivienne's face model in her character sheet doesn't really match up well with her in-game model (too light skinned), so I'm guessing that was an early design. Although I would have approved of shorter "horns" on her headdress.! The point of the keep is to be responsible for making the saves to import for all Dragon Age games from now on. "What about actually importing your save games? We are continuing to investigate ways in which save files from previous games could be used to populate the initial world state of the Dragon Age Keep. We’ll provide more information on this in the months to come. -
I'm just curious how the massive size of the game will affect the previous gen versions. I'm not buying a ps4 just for this game, so I'm really curious how the PS3 version is going to suffer (aside from lower scale graphics.) Multiple disks?
-
The most interesting news in here for me is them exploring ways to adjust voices(not necessarily with inquisition it seems). I'm no audio guy but I've played around with changing pitch and stuff and it always ends up rather goofy. But just in general it would be pretty dope if they could get to a point were there would be actual voice customization instead of choosing presets of voices.
I have no idea how that would be done without losing out on all the great subtleties an actor provides maybe with very tame filters I don't know, but the idea sounds exciting if it's possible to get there someday. -
@RobbyBevard:

That's actually what I was curious about too. The way Mass Effect 2 was formatted where you recruited four specific companions and then the four others after the inter-mission instead of being able to recruit who you want from the beginning was essentially because they had to split the amount of data into two discs. I suppose they could have it to where you have to install the game on your hard-drive like GTA V.

Installing game on a PS3 isn't something exclusive to GTA V though.

I believe you had to do it on the 360 as well which seemed pretty unique which is where I'm mostly concerned.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! Also, update on Vivienne: http://blog.bioware.com/2014/03/28/vivienne-writing-an-imperial-enchanter/

! Also, update on Vivienne: http://blog.bioware.com/2014/03/28/vivienne-writing-an-imperial-enchanter/
For reference: Mary Kirby's also written Sten, Loghain, Merril, and Varric.! So basically we have been given an Anti-Anders.
! What'll be interesting to see is how we drag her away from court to become one of our companions. The only way I see right now is to have Empress Celine order her because the Inquisition needs her. I also assume the "unnamed" mage she has "explosive" interactions with is Morrigan. -
Tiny bit of info about the two voice overs.
User
maybe a bit out of the blue but will the Dalish inquisitor have a welsh accent?Mike Laidlaw @__Mike_Laidlaw__
English VoiceOver will support a British and American accent for the main character.Makes it more likely that at least the human character will be from Fereldan or the Free Marches. Of course, they've probably had a human with an American accent before, but it's seemed like it's usually reserved for dwarves.
-
Tiny bit more in-depth on why there won't be any Party-Member DLC for the game:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/10/dragon-age-inquisition-wont-have-party-member-dlcAlso, Bioware posted an update thanking people for all their submissions for the voice acting contest, including a youtube with a bunch of clips from people who sent in videos. It's both hilarious and impressive. People are good (although I'm saddened by the number of people who can't pronounce the word "seneschal").
http://blog.bioware.com/2014/04/04/how-you-took-your-place-in-the-inquisition/ -
I learned a long time ago with my friend back during the abridged series craze that the only good thing we'd get out of amateur voice acting is a good time laughing at each other.
-
I'm fine with no DLC characters.
DLC post-game area expansions are fine… but when they lock out entire main characters? That sucks. As is my DA2 is tainted some knowing I'm missing a full two party members and a whole mess of quest lines... and hat if I ever play the game for a third time I'll have to pay for them just to get the different experience... and that kinda sucks.
But considering Varric is just guaranteed a slot in my party at all times, well...
-
I was very annoyed, if not downright pissed, that we didn't get more out of Sebastian's DLC in DA2. You talk about a "tacked-on" character, when he really should have been a more integrated character because he presented a whole different viewpoint of the proceedings.
-
Yeah. It seemed kinda weird for Sebastian to be a DLC character when it seemed like he had more ties to the main conflict than at least Merrill did and arguably represented the chantry better than Fenris did though I suppose Fenris represented the more extreme side. I'm also hoping for more post-game DLC than in-game DLC since I do always kinda hate feeling like I'm missing part of the adventure when I know there's going to be DLC released in a few months.
-
Have to be honest I think the only dlc character I liked was Shale.
I don't know why but all the other ones did feel like "dlc". Even the prothean guy.
It might just be heavy bias and Shale might be as bad/good as some of the others if we strip it down. -
Shale was always intended to be part of the game and was properly incorporated though. The only reason she wasn't on-disc is because they had problems with the golem size fitting through doors… they eventually just compromized by scaling her down.
There's a reason Shale was free day 1 DLC.
-
Everybody freaking loves Shale. How can you not?

Fenris didn't really have any connection to the Templars, he just hated Mages. Sebastian, on the other hand, was a member of the Chantry and while he didn't hate mages, particularly, he did think they should be under Templar control. So yeah, very good part of the conflict. But no, we didn't get to see much of anything from his DLC. The most we got from him was a better look at Grand Cleric Elthina.

I remember that story about her not fitting through doors, didn't know about that being the reason for the exclusion from the disk.
But it's good to know that I wasn't just silly about her being so much better integrated into the game compared to all other Bioware DLC characters.
@Satsuki:Everybody freaking loves Shale. How can you note?
I don't know, if you don't like her you're probably one of those crazy pigeons.

Do we have a release date? I've been kind of looking forward to a dose of WRPG.

Do we have a release date? I've been kind of looking forward to a dose of WRPG.
Nah. Just sometime this year. I would guess around October or November to get it ready for Holiday season. I wouldn't think it would get another delay since its already been delayed a year, and delaying it any more may be putting too much money into the game with not enough of a profit return.
-
Thanks! Oh noes I hope that doesn't conflict with the persona 5 release… fingers crossed for October.
-
I have a bad feeling that the game will be delayed just like Witcher 3
-
Don't you dare. Keep saying it keeps jinxing it.
-
I have a bad feeling that the game will be delayed just like Witcher 3
If it prevents EA from continuing the trend of putting out games that weren't playtested enough before being thrown on store shelves then I'm all for it.
-
It would be benefitial to them not to delay it seeing as they are the only Big RPG this year.

New trailer:
Can't watch it right now, but other points from Masked Empire and PAX
PAX
! Cassandra and Cullen confirmed as romances. Cullen not confirmed as companion. Not sure if this is the case in the latest trailer shown.
Masked Empire: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_The_Masked_Empire Story outlined.
Main points I see:! Sets up Celene and Gaspard's civil war.
City elves or Briala gains access to Eluvian network.
Michel (Half-elven chevalier) decides to hunt down Ishmael who I believe is a forbidden one released in this book. -
Release date revealed! 7th October in NA, 10th of October in Europe!!!
http://in.ign.com/en/news/2828/dragon-age-inquisition-release-date-revealed -
Yeah. Like I said before, I didn't figure it would be delayed after already getting an extra year. Plus, all signs pointed toward things going as planned. Thinking back on it, I also believe Gaider tweeted about a week back about it being time to start cutting things that won't make it in the final release.
-
Niiiiiiice trailer. Can't be sure how many of the people in the one frame where the Inquisitor is standing behind the table are companions, as there are 12 of them. We can see the confirmed guys, as well as the big, bearded warden who's been in all the concept art. Is that Cullen on the far left? It can't be Alistair cause I don't think Alistair will ever be a companion again, sadly.
Also, October!!! write date in calendar
! Cullen confirmed as romances. Cullen not confirmed as companion. Not sure if this is the case in the latest trailer shown.

Dragon Age Inquisition site is also now up and ready to be explored: http://www.dragonage.com/#!/en_US/home
Also, I think we've got the full list of the 9 companions now. They're probably the ones with weapons.

Also, the classes and specializations from the site seem to be:Warrior:
- Champion: "Champions are defenders and protectors, and when a warrior trains in the champion’s tradition, he or she becomes unstoppable. Champions use their armor, weapon and awareness to shrug off incoming attacks while holding critical positions on the battlefield and protecting allies in the process."
- Templar: No Description Yet.
- Reaver: No Description Yet.
Rogue:
- Artificer: "Intricate mechanisms are the core of the artificer’s craft: Deadly traps; Distracting contraptions; Marvels of engineering turned to deadly purpose. If an artificer is standing at the far end of a seemingly innocuous stretch of the battlefield, you should find another path. If he or she is smiling? Best just to hope your affairs are in order."
- Assassin: No Description Yet.
- Tempest: No Description Yet.
Mage:
- Knight Enchanter: "Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks."
- Necromancer: No Description Yet.
- Rift Mage: No Description Yet.
I'll probably go human male rogue my first time through, so I'm interested in Artificer and Tempest.

! Awwww, what's the point of romancing Cullen if he's not a companion? That's annoying.
I always play a rogue first, so I'm interested in Tempest. Artificer seems . . . . . too complicated on an active battlefield.
-
Looking on it now, I'm specificially planning on making a dual-wielding rogue too, and artificer seems more like it'd be a better specialization for archers.
-
If we are talking about romances..
! I am already loving Vivienne. She's surely going to be my first romance..of course if she's a romance option that is.
-
Artificer sounds kinda neat.
Usually I go dual sword wielding nice guy thief on my first run… wonder if I'll make him a dwarf again, considering Varric? Maybe I'll go Qunari.
Second run will be evil female blood mage that hates all other mages, as usual.

Mass Effect 3 did it first.
-
Well this isn't Mass Effect 3!!!
! That Tevinter Magister next to Iron Bull looks cute though. Hopefully he'll be a romance option.
-
Seems to confirm that there'll be straight, bisexual, and homosexual LI's this time around rather than DAII's approach where you could romance anyone except Sebastian if you were male.
-
Hmmm, I suppose that makes sense. All I can hope is that the dude I want isn't beyond my reach, so to speak.
-
God, I hope Leilana isn't a companion. I really don't want to choose between her and Varric.
Wonder if she's romancible. That'd be fun, but I'd want to know more about the others.
