Problem with Wii

So, my brother somehow screwed up a game.

It's Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. He was playing when some error message popped up. It's since mostly not been able to read the disc, though before it did get to the game menu but music was on and off and it eventually stopped working again. Other times it could read, but when you tried to start playing it would just lead to a black screen and you couldn't do anything.

I've tried cleaning the disc and all that, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone had a similar problem and can tell me how to resolve this?

Other games appear to run completely fine btw, so I'm quite sure it's the disc.

Is it a dual-layered disc? If so, then you might have to clean the Wii's lens. I don't know if they sell the lens cleaning kit anymore, but it cost about $10 back when I bought one.

I don't know to be honest :S

Since that post, all discs have stopped being read completely. The Wii lens cleaning kit thing is like >£20, but I ordered some cheap multipurpose one which may or may not work.

Nintendo had a problem with early bought Wiis with Dual layer discs, My Neighbour had to ring them when he got Super Smash Bros Brawl. They put a new laser in free of charge.

Yeah, Radiant Dawn is a dual-layered disc. I had this problem with Brawl and Mario Galaxy. If you still have the warranty on your Wii then send it in to Nintendo and have them fix it. I tried buying the little cleaning kit for the lens in the Wii and it didn't work but I can tell you right now, it's most likely not the disc.
