I don't get it. What is it?
Cath Palug is monstrous cat in welsh folklore. Just like Balor was a god in irish folklore.
-
Welsh cat, you say?

Oohhhhh. Most of the Celtic lore I know is Irish/Scottish, I know very little Welsh stuff.
-
Something doesn't add. According to extra content in one volume, Cath is a creature from Purgatory. That means there should be more like him/her down there. So why is the Lady of the Lake so horrified at what is at first glance just one of many beasts that live in there.
Unless…

For once, because we don’t know wtf a Cath usually does? He has some kind of telepathic powers, as he could animate armor and warm Merlin about Arthur. He also ate Peronia, and now one of Arthur’s arms. He was too clingy to Arthur too.

This reminds me, Nanashi I think was told Arthur that no harm would come as long as Cath stayed with him. He also then thought to himself Cath was giving him the creeps. And for every time Arthur's life was endangered, Cath reacted viciously and displayed bloodlust.
We also still don't know the details on what circumstances Arthur came to meet Cath during his training in the Druid village.
-
Cath was the thing inside the armour that stabbed Gowther there.
And Mr. Samurai is a lair now?! Nakabaaaaaa!

Definitely not the face of someone that was plotting something ominous.

OH come on, more needless drama.

True Excalibur looks like ass.

? Excalibur looks fine to me. Although it's hilt is a little tacky.

To explain it in full detail would take too much time. So I'm just going to say that with the latest developments Nakaba is actually laying the ground for the Arthur sequel. That Merlin was saved for last ain't any coincidence. Neither is the reveal about Cath, or the fact that Arthur is now severely handicapped as Meliodas was in the beginning.

Arthur is now a reality bender;
Is handicapped.
Pick one. He need to learn to better control chaos, nothing more. And while I'm at it, some farcical aquatic ceremony does not give one supreme executive power over chaos, it derives form a mandate from the masses. -
In the Arthurian legend, Excalibur was bestowed to Arthur by the Lady of the lake. Chaos is pretty much the same, as it allowed Arthur to manifest the true Excalibur.

I don't think I'd watch an Arthur spinoff if that's where this is heading. He's very uninteresting to me. And Merlin is kinda meh. I really mostly stuck with the story cause of Ban lol.
-
While Cath's betrayal isn't really surprising if you are read up on Arthurian mythology, this all just feels rushed and uninteresting. Just end it already.
-
That feral beast ate a fragment of Chaos, and the way it got obliterated almost mirrors Hendrickson. I'm certain that thing won't die that easily.

Yeah. I was only still reading for Escanor, to be honest. Now that he's gone 99% of my interest in this series went with him.
-
Lol the name cath palug makes me think of a Star Wars sith name
-
Man, I would hate to be you guys. If my enjoyment of a particular ficitional work depended on the survival of one specific character I would rather kill myself.
-
I just think that some misses on Nakaba's part have been pilling up…like trying to knot all the loose ends without knowing how to knot
-

That's a bit dramatic, eh?

Well the plot has been wonky for a while so characters are the only thing keeping it together and I'm not the sort to give up on series I've been following for a while.
-
Count me in on the sad group of those who only kept going on because of a specific character (not killing myself, though, weirdly enough fiction is not my lifeline). As soon as Gowther got his heart back and asshole!Gowther was dead, it was only a matter of time until I dropped it - and that ultimately happened at some point during the Mael fight.
But that's not the reason I am here. The reason is because since then once in a while I check a chapter here or there, flipping through the pages to have a general idea of what is going on. At that, I stopped to read Escanor's death and I have to say, despite how much I always found Merlin a boring af character, the scene where she kisses a burning Escanor to carry the burning marks as a proof of his love even though she never loved him back? That was one of the most badass scenes I saw in a manga. And Escanor (a character I thoroughly dislike) saying he was sorry for not being able to be worthy of her love and wishing for someone to appear and be up to the task was almost as amazing. I give it to Nakaba, that moment was gold.

So characters are more important to me than plot, sue me. There's always one or two characters in any given media that I latch on to and derive most of my enjoyment from. I've always been like that. With one piece it's Franky, Robin, and Brook. With star wars it's Obi-wan, Luke, and Asajj. And with steven universe it was Jasper. Just to give some more examples.
-
Man, if this manga doesn't conclude soon, I might just kill myself!
-
Aren't we going to talk about how due to the recent developments, is just impossible for this story to end on a happy note. And I'm almost certain is about to get worse.
At least I can rest easy, knowing my boy Ban is safe and Elaine is going to conceive Lancelot.
-
It's always darkest before the dawn. And are you okay?

Jeebus that translation is a mess
Cath's new design looks wicked though

Reminds me of the Catbus from Totoro.

I thought you meant as in the ethnicity not a cat lol.

At least Cath look nice.
-
Yeah… No. I would rather read the raw, thanks.

Man, I haven't seen a series collapse this hard since Bleach.
-
I need to re-read my Arthurian lore.

Man, I haven't seen a series collapse this hard since Bleach.
This is nowhere near as bad as Bleach got. Nothing is really that out of left field, it's just underwhelming. We knew that Arthur would be involved somehow, whether in a spin-off or as it is now, and we should have known that Cath was going to suck given his name and place in Arturian legend. It's just that the fight with the Demon King was way too drawn out, he wasn't a good enough final villain (which I guess is ok, since he wasn't the final villain?) and we haven't been hooked yet, or at least I haven't. Still, I thought it was pretty good all the way up to Elizabeth almost being killed by the giant rock.

Soma is the most recent champ of this, but this is getting up there
-
Not even comparable. Unlike those two, the stuff that is happening right now didn't came out of left field, plus Nakaba knows where he's taking the story he's writing and has a set conclusion.
So enjoy the ride while it still lasts.
-
If his plan was to make it feel needlessly drawn out, he's doing a superb job of it.
-
I don't think he gave an appropriate breather between arcs and they really could have used it.

The bad taste of the DK still lingers.

The bad taste of the DK still lingers.
The bad taste of Escanor's death still lingers :(
-
The bad taste of the DK still lingers.
Which is why we needed this current setting , and Nakaba kind of knew that.
But now Cath has become such a threat and in such a short span, and the potential of Arthur losing control of Chaos, is just a matter of time the SD finally reveals herself.

Nah bro, Escanor death is Greed Level good imo.
I just want for him to either stay dead or be cheated out of it.

I think it'd be funny as hell if Merlin gets in real danger, and Escanor wills himself back to life to protect her, lol. I don't think it could happen, I just think it'd be neat.
