Has anyone else seen this commercial on Adult Swim. A guy in his twenties is standing in front of his tv and he is bobbing and weaving like a ten year old mimicking the actions on his TV. Then a voice says "Hey what are you doing" and the guy says "Watching InuYasha… I wish I was inuyasha". Then the voice says "Well now you can be" and the guy pops into an Inuyasha costume "At Swim con". Suddenly his living room is filled with like six other cosplayers and the guy is just like "I'm not alone!!!". Then the all start dancing, and the voice says something lame about Swim Con. So the whole thing is just a commercial for Adult Swim.
Now I know the way I described it doesn't seem so bad, but to be honest this whole thing felt like they were really making fun of cosplayers and anime fans. The commercial was a little insulting. Has anyone else seen it and what do you think. Perhaps I am crazy, I don't know.

Now I wish I've seen it. Sounds funny as hell.
-
I didn't like their dancing.
…..That's about all I got on that one. I dont think they were trying to make fun of anyone.
-
Of course they were making fun of cosplayers. Everyone makes fun of cosplayers. And AS makes fun of everyone.
-
Yeah, I was thinking, Cosplayers dress up as cartoon characters. Isn't being made fun of to be expected? (no offense to anyone)
-
I just HAVE to see this now.
It's gonna be comedy GOLD. -
I thought it was funny. Be even funnier if they could have gotten Man-Faye in it.
-
@Ral:

Yes! BEWARE OF MAN FAYE.
Nah, I like to cosplay, but didn't mind the commercial… I mean it is to be expected I think. Hell, I expect it.
-
Oh I expect it as well. If Conan Obrien showed up with Truimph the insult comic dog and started poking fun at cosplayers, it wouldn't bother me. However when a company that gets a decent amount of ratings from said cosplayers is making fun it just kind of annoyed me. It would kind of be like Leonard Nimoy making fun of Trekkies. I know that is a really bad example and it isn't quite the same.
Also I would like to point out that I am not so pissed off that I am throwing shit fits over this. Mostly I thought it would make an interesting conversation with those that have seen this commercial. I am a very laid back person when it comes to my fandom.
-
I saw it last night and burst out laughing. xD He was all excited watching Inuyasha too. snerk
-
Heh, the Truimph thing would bother me, just because I think its the worst aspect of the Conan O'Brien show. But I can see your slight irritation, I'm sure other people feel it too, and the analogy you used really isn't too far off. I personally just don't mind it.

Thanks Irresistiblement
To be honest. I did like the commercial. I thought the cosplayers they got looked really good. Especially the chick from Ghost in the Shell.
-
I'm partial to the Dr. Girlfriend. Venture Bros. yo.
-
Well, I can see where you're coming from, but Adult Swim makes fun of its fanbase a lot. Especially the droves of idiots on their message board.
As for Triumph… I love those bits, but sometimes it feels like they're just shelling them out because of how popualr they are. Then again, I haven't had the chance to watch Conan since they took it off the Comedy Central lineup (bad move; now The Daily Show is the only thing worth watching on that cesspool).

Yeah, not a day goes by where Adult Swim doesn't mock one of their fans, espically the Inuyasha ones.
And I'd love to see Triumph at an anime convention. I would probably die laughing, just like I did when I watched him insult all of the major Star Wars nerds at the premiere of Episode II.

How have I not seen this thing? I know I tend to zone out through commercials and all but I like the AS bumps so I try to keep an eye on them.

When I first saw that commercial, I actually thought that "Swim con" existed and that they were advertising it.
Damn my lack of interpretation skills.
It was a fun commercial though.
