Your "gut feeling" would make you pay a sweet amount for a bootleg if you were to buy the one at eBay. Of course it's hard to distinguish between the real one and the one that's being offered right now but that's the idea behind a really good bootleg; which the one kanji linked obviously is.

To put it simple, kanji - don't buy that Carue figure since it's a bootleg for sure. You may not see any significant differences at the moment but just use common sense. It will save you your cash.

As the seller seems to be legit, I think what I may do is make them aware that what they are selling is bootleg and then perhaps make them an offer of maybe $50? and see what they say. $50 for a bootleg Carue's got to be worth it, not that I'm advocating it's production.

well either that or I'll get a really good deal. ;) I got my original bellemere for $10 bucks.

Im not saying the one on ebay is real. Im just saying the one in onepiece blogspot is as good as the real one.

But honestly. If I could get a Carue bootleg cheaper for the actual one and it looks that good….I probably would. The only big thing about Carue's POP is that it's price is ridiculously huge. Not because he's a an amazingly great char or anything

I think the next huge price chars will be someone like Blackbeard, Croc or Jinbe. Chars who never sold well enough to get a restock but will become desirable later on. Jinbe especially sold bad and could even be the new crewmember. Aside from them....hmmmm. Vista? I doubt Benn Beckman is popular enough to get a restock either

Benn Beckman isnt popular? My mouth dropped when I saw he was coming in GLM form. Just wish they would give us Lucky Roo (sp?) to complete the Red Haired Pirates

I think ben is pretty cool character, considering he hasn't done anything other than just acting cool.
But I think once he's showing his power, his popularity will grow even more. But as for now, i think he's still under shanks' shadow.

I love Boa GLC, that figure is excellent, definitely want another one. She's very well done.
GLC on a whole so far are pretty good. I'm not feelin' the Robin, Spandam, or Zoro but we'll see.

I think they add characters to the line. So not everyone are happy.

But i do agree about zoro. I think he's my least fav. one. Hopefully he can looks better on some angle.
He kinda reminds me to POP zoro =), they got the exact same expression. Kinda funny if i look at him that way XD.

Mhm, I don't like the Robin's blank face, should have given her some sort of expression, I'm anticipating child WCF Robin more than her GLC ver, lol.
And I just plain hate the Spandam.
I want that pink elephant though, I think he may be the same price as the others? Maybe becuase he is an addition piece to the Spandam? He looks to be the same size as them though…

Look at that little book and that stern little face, excellent! If they had given the GLC Robin an actual facial expression it would have made that figure gold

the quantity of pink elephant is way less than spandam and robin.
Im not sure how less it will be, and considering some onepiece fans can go crazy with something that's a bit rare, im afraid he'll not be cheap.
But hope I'm wrong. Cos I do want that pink elephant too :P. Reminds me to dumbo XD.

Hmm yeah he's about half of Spandam. Well hopefully the price isn't too ridiculous. I'd imagine they'll produce a lot of them though, so I can't see the price deviating from what the current prices for GLC are

On watanablog, there's a new post about Banpresto Sculptors portfolio. There, maybe for the first time we can know who sculpted what of Banpresto prize figures.
Kengo Iida, as we have known here, is the one responsible for MSP Ace, Luffy, Naruto, DX Brotherhood and GLC series.

Less known but interesting stuffs:

Keiji Iwakura, the sculptor of the impressive Figure Colosseum SSJ3 Goku & Luffy is also the sculptor of the upcoming Kuji young Whitebeard

Saito, the sculptor of the OP Figure Colosseum winner, Wiper is the one responsible for Jojo DX Dio, and most of the Kuji Hunter x Hunter figures.

Yuta Fuke, sculpted the AP favorite OP Figure Colosseum Jango, also has impressive list of figures: GLM Usopp, DX Shichibukai Crocodile, Blackbeard (my most fav Blackbeard figure), Kuji Romance Dawn Robin.

Some of the sculptors are from PlasticArts Co., Ltd have built impressive portfolio. Yamashita (Kuji Freeza), Yuta Fuke (above), Mitsumasa Otani (GLM 13 Franky, DX Shichibukai Moria, DX Admiral Akainu) also have contributed in OP WCF and Sentinel One Piece HOOK series.

And this guy is a truly great Dragon Ball sculptor: Hiroyuki Nakazawa. Responsible for: Figure Colosseum Goku (Hawaiian shirt), Lunch (the winner of the second tournament), both releases of Desktop McCoy Goku (I love the bicycle riding one), DB WCF, and the highly rated DB Proovy figure (Goku-Gohan kamehamema action).

They also have video of sculptors discussing a prototype of Asura Wrath figure.

Price for the elephant will be the same as Robin and Spandam. Look at Chopper. He's half the size of Zoro and Sanji but the same price.

Seller turned out to be very honest and all but admitted that the Carue was bootleg. Price was non-negotiable and there was no way I was paying $160 for a fake POP. That's just ridiculous!! So transaction was safely cancelled! Phew! Better be more careful next time!!

No problem Maggie, I don't know whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, but these really good bootlegs only seem to exist for the super rare/high price POP's. The run of the mill don't command enough demand for bootleggers to invest heavily in their production so most fakes should still remain easy to recognize. I worry though that one day no-one will be able to distinguish between the real and fake, even retailers like Mandarake, which is scary.

I think that zoro calender is the best one of this line. The rest of ethernal calendar looks a little crap to me.

Thanks for posting alla21ddin21! Really pleased I didn't go for that bootleg on Ebay now. Couldn't notice the different before, but you can really see the poor quality paint work and moulding up close. It' still a good bootleg, but not near as good as the real deal!

Looking at fake original carue makes me thinks it looks more like old POP quality vs new POP quality.

Bought this new one piece FC in a random japanse candy shop and got the secret shirahoshi in the shark mouth in 1 go, and it was cheap also wahaha, guess I was cheating also as I was feeling wich box was fuller, either this or that jinbei as he seems big and fat also :-p
And the sales person told me to buy the whole box set if I wanted the whole complete set, but I said naw…
I just wanted that secret shirahoshi :-p

Yeah I think Zoro is better than the rest though his face is still off, for me. It's amusing that they can't get it right for most of the characters face.

I think for a figure collector, sooner or later one will find "the bond" with the figure sculptor.
Once we "fall in love" with a sculptor, any products of him/her would look good for us. Just like those manga authors! :)

I think it also really helps when you look in MFC and you can click on the sculptor and see all their other works! It always makes me want to buy figures from series i've never seen LOL! Is that info on MFC for those figures that you mentioned?

And man, that fake carue is scary. Yes, you can kind of tell it's not as high quality, but the differences are really minimal (kind of like that fake IK Oars). SDX Ace fakes started a new era, it seems…

I just received my new Oars 1/144 scale figure today and thought I would share some pics.

! As you can see in this picture his loincloth is a little pinkish.

His paint is definitely not as good as PoPs

Size comparison with Kuma PoP and my new Jinbe PoP

And can anyone tell me what this is that came with the figure?

All in all I would say it is a figure worth getting. Its especially worth it if you can afford the IK Oars. I think I would give this figure a 7.5/10. Now I need to decide if I want to get the IK figure to sit by this one and compare.

That's just a piece of candy/gum Sonj, it usually comes with smaller figure Bandai produces (like Styling for example)
At least this oars has a base, I like it. May get him in a month or two

Yeah i just received mine as well and its kinda light and flimsy.. and it arms made squeaking sound when i moved them! maybe fresh out of the box that's y! LOL.. but affordable to those who can't get IK Oars! :)
