@Traveller:
The Boys is friggin' brilliant. Personally I lost all interest towards Marvel comics somwehere after the year 2002 or 2003 because it all became so ridiculous. The Boys is an excellent parody of superheroes in general and the plot very interesting.
I rather enjoyed Marvel since then
@Ravager:
have you read The Long Halloween or Dark Victory or Hush
those are some of the best Batman stories ever made and they have been extremely influential to the current state of Batman
thats something that ppl should respect
for me TLH andDV are the real Batman Y2 and Y3
Yeah I read the 1st 3 series you mentioned, but when you come to disecting The Long Halloween you'll find that he had messed up the story at the end somewhat. Still some good stuff though.
not just Loeb`s Ultimatum or even for the gorey part
Civil War, Secret Invasion, House of M, all of them sale good yet ppl and critics were against their results, as individual stories they suck, not to even mention as events
I don't think I'll read House of M anytime soon, but prob. the near future, but I enjoyed CW and SI for the most part myself (hell the B. Panther issues were magnificent IMO)
Siege started this week and it already gotten really bad reviews from critics
I would suggest not seeing it as a major Marvel event, but like X-Men story arcs like Messiah CompleX for example.
For that matter I enjoy issue 1 for the most part, it'll prob. be a lot better when it finishes I think.
that is not happening on DC
Blackest Night is extremely gorey but it have gotten great reviews and support of the fans, Geoff Johns have won several prizes for it
Oh I know that, but when you've got zombies in the frey you're bound to get gore ;3
Part of the reason I think BN is enjoyed is because it's action packed while being…hmm...serious, consistent, stuff making sense?
not the same thing comparing Planet Hulk with UX-M, you knew how PH was going to end cause it was going to led to WWH
Not really I didn't know about WWH until AFTER I finished reading Planet Hulk.
and for the record i loved WWH, it was awfully drawn but the story was great
Oh you did not just diss John Romita Jr., son! I am disappoint ;P
on UX-M there is nothing after Ultimatum, Profesor x died, nightcrawler, beast, angel, dazzler, wanda, wolverine, cyclops, etc it just got really really screwed
Not necessarily; if a writer I am familiar with decides to write a new Ultimate X-series, I'll read it regardless of the characters, after all good reading is good reading in my book.
it even killed Daredevil and Dr Strange(no more Ultimate Knights reunion =(. )
and Loeb is going to write the Ultimate X comic so i dont know if i want to follow that
Woah they died too? Lame @_@…and uh you did see the cover to Ultimate X did you?
nice list BTW.
@choperman- I don't know what happened to Zemo after Civil War, but I recall a story arc that had him die or go missing or some such?
Anyways the Thunderbolts book has been pretty good even after he left-
Issues 110-121 were written by Warren Ellis and featured Bullseye, Moonstone, Venom, Songbird, Swordsman, Radioactiveman and Norman Osborn as the main leader (Norman did not participate in missions but was assigned by the US government IIRC to oversee the team)
The team remained with that roster for the most part up until Dark Reign.
When Dark Reign started the team consisted of the following people Norman himself chose (IIRC)- Scourge, Headsman (old Spidey villain), Ghost (Ironman villain), Black Widow II (the blonde one), Antman, Paladin and Mr. X (not a mutant as far as I can tell)
Some characters left or joined the team as the series progressed.
If you were more familiar with Zemo's TB then you might not like this iteration, but overall they are a great and fun read IMO.
Here're the collected edition of post Zemobolts-
! 1- Faith in monsters
2- Caged Angels
3- Secret Invasion
4- Burning down the house
5- Dark Reign: DeadPool/Thunderbolts
6- Widowmaker
@syan- yeah his colour series were pretty good now that I think about it. For the most part if there's a Loeb book I don't like the writing in but has awesome art, I just treat it as an art book XD
Man one of these days I'll get around to reading Superman: For tomorrow and enjoy it, didn't seem to click with me when I first read it. Maybe I don't enjoy Brian Az's writing much? I did enjoy Az's 100 Bullets though…first 50 issues at least >o>;
@Sano- I would recommend getting Avengers titles; New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Avengers Initiative and Dark Avengers were all good in their own way. Thing is I'm not sure which YOU will enjoy the most ^_^; I personally didn't start liking Initiative until Taskmaster was added to the book and it's been awesome since then.
Oh maybe you wanna give Marvel Divas a read? It's got great IMO and the writing's nice.
@Ravager about House of M- If anything it should've stayed an X-Men only event, but even then showing how things would've been for other characters in this reality wasn't such a bad idea. If anything House of M had Black Bolt owning Apocaypse which is fuckwin IMO.
Oh we did get Scorpion (Bruce Banner's daughter) from it! Sucks she hasn't been in a lot of comics/good stories for the past years =/
You may want to read a number of the SI tie-ins as they were great; B. Panther comes to mind, Thunderbolts, **Captain Britain and MI13[B/], Hercules, Avengers: Initiative, Ms. Marvel, Inhumans, Thor, X-Men & War Machine.
If you didn't like the main book, well that's sad to hear, but the tie-ins I mentioned were all freaking good and fun (shame Captain Britain didn't last long, I mean hell it's prob. the BEST thing to happen to Blade since he got movies made for him).
I get my comics from 3 main sources for the most part >o>;**
