Invincible #60 was too good and bloody.
Damn right.
I love some Image comics, Invincible and Savage Dragon especially.

and where exactly is the monkey from?
Wouldn't surprise me if that was supposed to be Beppo.
Actually that is apparently the cover for Superfriends #14. Story was nice and funny though.
Now to patiently wait for Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers.
@P. Kenshin- Have you read Dynamo 5? That's one of my fav. Image series.
I just finished volume 1 of New Avengers, and it was awesome, but I want to know 2 things. (1) Do I need to read the Avengers Disassembled to understand this new series? (2) Is it still continuing now? (or what is the sequel anyway)
I don't think you need to read Disassembled, but New Avengers is nearing issue #53 soon, and it is still an ongoing. The later arcs are pretty neat too (except maybe for the Secret Invasion arc)
^ Oh…I see. BTW, have you read Avengers Dis? In that case, which one is the better one (I heard theres 2 versions)
In a few days I'll be getting the 2nd volume of Essential Hulk (can't wait for it)
Avengers Disassembled is not all that great, and will probably only raise more questions. I'd just stick with NA, though the first storyline (the Breakout trade) is easily the best, imo.
I've been slacking on comics due to lack of money, but I'll definitely catch up on Outsiders, Cable, Cap, Moon Knight, Punisher, REBELS, Agents of Atlas, and Thunderbolts when I can. Batman should be a good franchise once it gets its shit back together.
^
I'd recommend dcbservice.com to you.
What ever happened to Marvel Runaways? Like seriously, I never seem to find vol 7 anywhere
Anyone know any new websites for Amazing Spdier Man comics (after ch 120-recent)
@Jedi:
What ever happened to Marvel Runaways? Like seriously, I never seem to find vol 7 anywhere
Vol. 8+ are expected to be released by this June and onwards-
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=20534
Vol. 8 was written by Joss Whedon BTW.
Anyone know any new websites for Amazing Spdier Man comics (after ch 120-recent)
I only have torrents for that dude, dunno about online viewing :/
^
I'd recommend dcbservice.com to you.
Eh, I'm the type of guy that will buy more if the items are cheaper.
So July solicits are out, and even though there are a lot of comics that look cool, I'm probably most curious about Detective. JH Williams has been putting out a lot of cool pieces:
!
Never thought I'd been clamoring for Batwoman.
^
He has a terrible design on her when she isn't Batwoman (compared to 52, I honestly have no idea what happened to her).
Another site you might want to check out is:
http://www.wizarduniverse.com/store.html
Wizard's site sometimes (quite often) sells trades and hardcovers for as low as 1.99-2.99.
Yes, HARDCOVERS that cheap.
Other than that, they have a lot of comics-related stuff on there clearance section for some real cheap prices (and if you don't mind invest to get some return, you can buy some of their figures and statues on clearance and re-sell them on ebay to make a pretty nice return).
Sana Takeda (Image's Drain miniseries) will apparently be the artist on future Ms. Marvel issues-
Ghost Rider 34
! Really fun issue where with it focusing on Danny.
The issue beings by introducing The Highwayman (not sure if he was shown in the Marvel U. before) and how he made a deal with the devil to never become tired. This eventually turned him and his truck into demonic beings.
Highwayman kills some people at a diner, with Danny passing by on the flaming remains. Danny seems to have some GR power left in him and turns into the Ghost Rider and chases after the Highwayman.
The next pages is a kickass battle of Danny vs. the Highwayman. Danny eventually defeats the Highwayman and wastes his truck.
This issue also shows how much of a fool Danny feels he is and wants the end of the world to just come already so he can be rid of this torment he's feeling.
Issue ends with Highwayman looking for a new truck with "an 8-track player".
A fun action packed issue, oh and Tony Moore's art is really nice.
Oh and from Blackest Night #0
! The Blackest Night falls from the skies
The darkness grows as all light dies
We crave your hearts and your demise
By my Black Hand THE DEAD SHALL RISE!
Well….
Spider-woman has now been delayed indefinitely because they can't get their motion/digital comics up like they wanted and until then we won't be getting any physical issues. Thanks a lot Bendis >_>
Also, the calculator in Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a fat dude.
I just finished the 3 volume Amazing Spider Man storyline called "Brand New Day" (I saw it on shelf, of course in a library) , and I really like some of these new villians they introduced in it, but I still want to know one thing. How much volumes are there of it?
What did anyone else think of it?
Invincible #61 was pretty good, the ending was awesome too.
I'm thinking begin buying some of the Marvel Comics Graphic novels in July. Is there any certian storylines I should read and stuff. Because I'm thinking about getting the X-Men: Dark Phoenix Saga novel (Amazon is selling the most recent print of the novel for $16.99). Since I follow the X-Men storyline and stuff a lot.
I'm thinking getting the Kitty Pryde and Wolverene mini series novel as well. Since I'm a big Kitty fan. ^_^
Which one should be the better buy since I really want to begin ready other type of comics beside One Piece, Bleach, Detective Conan, and Kenichi. ^_^.
For X-Men, you should start with Morrison's run on the series OR Astonishing X-Men.
The thing about Astonishing X-Men is that you DON'T actually have to know much to get into it, though it borrows some stuff from Morrison's run on the X-Men.
Either way it's up to you. IMO Astonishing has a much better and easier pace to follow whereas Morrison's run is a bit…rushed, but still good non the less.
Morrison's run on X-Men begins with New X-Men Vol. 1: E is for Extinction.
Astonishing X-Men begins with Vol. 1: Gifted
There is also the Academy X series which introduced a wonderful set of characters that is sadly being ignored by Marvel, but the stories they appeared in are classic and enjoyable.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_X-Men:_Academy_X#Collections
Wolverine had some great story arcs over the past years (with the sole exception of Wolverine: Evolution, which sucked), so you could get the collected editions (TPB) of his series as well if you want.
Then there's my homie DeadPool; Cable and DeadPool is a hilarious and entertaining series which is the best way to see why DP has such a fanbase. Vol. 1 is called 'If looks could kill'
Furthermore, Marvel recently released a TPB of DeadPool's earliest escapades (90s series) in DeadPool Classic Vol. 1, with Vol. 2 coming out soon.
Finally if you want something grim, dark and bloody, there's the current X-Force series which you could start with the books-
Vol. 1- Angels & Demons
Vol. 2- Old Ghosts (comes out in June)
I hope I haven't confused you, but if I did, I'll try to explain some stuff easier ^_^;
I'm also was thinking about getting those as well Because they are cheaper then heck to get. hehe. How good the Marvel Universe Civil War arc is. Since I'm curious about that as well.
I mean know all the major big storylines and stuff. I'm just ready to actually read them. And I thought should get some of the novels
Ugh the Civil War will get mixed reviews from most of the fans, some liked it, some don't. If you can give it a read at a bookshop/library and like it, buy it.
For the X-Men there was Messiah CompleX, you should read this AFTER reading the series I mentioned. Still MC sets up much of the current events in the X-Men series. (like X-Force)
Oh and contrary to what Marvel states; Captain Britain and MI13 is NOT an X-book, it's a superhero team book much like the Avengers.
I kinda figure that out from read Marvel's Wikia page. Yeah, where I live the nearest comic shop is a hour and half. I have to order stuff off the internet. I might have to ask my mom order to me the Astounding X-men Vol. 1 Gifted for my brithday, which is in the next week on May 6th. I read summary of the book and looks very interesting.
Another question is there good Rouge mini series, since she is my 3rd favorite of the X-Women beside Emma and Kitty.
I've been reading a bit of Incredible Hercules lately.
What happened to Herc. In Civil War, he was all bad-ass. He smashed Clor's head in with mjolnir and exclaimed, "Thou art no Thor". Now he's like some sloppy cop who drinks too much beer and spews Clint Eastwood one-liners. Entertaining, but a down-grade.
I tried out Captain Britain and MI13, but it was boring, especially in the dialogue. I think Paul Cornell is trying waaay too hard. Then again, I've read the series is new reader unfriendly, and when it comes to Captain Britian, I am definetely a new reader.
I love the new Deadpool series, though. Then again, it's almost impossible for me to hate a Deadpool story.
On the contrary, Captain Britain and Incredible Herc are some of the best Marvel books ATM IMO.
@Sano- Rogue? Well I know only of this one story arc she appeared in during the first issues of the Ms. Marvel comic, but I wouldn't recommend them since they focus more on Ms. Marvel than Rogue I think.
There IS a current story arc in X-Men Legacy that focuses on Rogue's past but it won't be released as a collection until later this year I believe.
Well, I'm getting Astounding X-Men Vol. 1: Gifted for my brithday. ^_^.
Sorry for double posting but I got another question. I was just looking at amazon and saw this. http://www.amazon.com/Essential-X-Men-All-New-Graphic-Novels/dp/0785132554/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240742249&sr=1-21
Would this be a good buy any fan, from the reviewers it comes Essental X-Men Vol. 1 comes with Uncanny X-Men issues 94 - 119 and giant size - X-Men #1. I'm not getting it right now. But I'm just wonder, since I saw Essential X-Men Volume 2 have the issues 120 - 144 which inculdes the Dark Phoenix arc and stuff (and its a lot cheaper then buying that one big book that just only focusing the Dark Phoenix arc.).
Essential 1 would have the stories that take place BEFORE or leading up to The Dark Phoenix. Get it if you want to know the 'build up' and how the X-Men rose in popularity since those issues were published decades ago. (IIRC the X-Men series were published until early 70s, then Marvel stopped publishing them. When Chris Claremont rebooted the series in the mid 70s they became MUCH more popular)
Okay, thats all I need to know. Thanks. I'm still going head get Astounding X-Men Vol. 1 for my brithday. ^^. So I aleast can try to catch with one of the series. ^^. I'll probably begin getting the Essental X-Men volumes in the next couple months so I can aleast try.
And other news, I finally found my copy of X-Men Legends game (I own both games for the Gamecube). Anyway, thanks you again Tizoc. You're really helping out, since I really want to start a comic book collection by getting these graphic novels.
Since I decide to quit buying Shoenen Jump begin buying most of those stuff in novels. So give me a chance to begin getting to buying Marvel stuff. ^_^.
You're welcome ^_^v.
If you're interested in reading anything besides X-Men, then I might recommend the Power Pack miniseries, they're not part of the current Marvel universe, but are fun and entertaining non-the-less-
http://www.amazon.com/Power-Pack-Vol-Avengers-X-Men/dp/0785129154/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240747555&sr=1-5
^Collects the first 3 miniseries
Oh and here's a site with some artwork you may like-
http://www.sanatakeda.or.tv/mt/
Thanks for the info. I did like the cover for Ms. Marvel #40.
I also have interest into like the Fantasic Four and She-Hulk as well beside being an X-Men mark. When I went the bookstore in the the town mall that 30 mile with my place they have some of the stuff that you reccomend, but they did Astounding X-Men Vol. 1 (But they had Vol. 4 and I didn't want to spoil the storyline to me. xD). I have my mom order it for me today for my birthday.
Is the Age of Apocylise is worth reading. The reason I asked since I just finished watching Season 1 of Wolverene and the X-Men, the ending of Season 1 is setting up for that arc for next season.
Whoa, Age of Apocalypse, hmmm I never read it myself, but some have said that it aged well since the 90s, but it was written with the mindset of the 90s so whether you'd like it or not is up to you I guess :P
…as for Fantastic Four, the Visionaries series are considered very good-
http://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Four-Visionaries-John-Byrne/dp/0785107797/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240751830&sr=1-2
It basically collects story arcs from the 80s onwards (and let me tell you, 80s Marvel is some of its BEST eras). So I would recommend starting from these.
As far as She-Hulk (Shulkie) goes, her recent series is hit or miss; I personally was OK with it, it had some nice writing by Dan Slott and others. If you want a head start go with Single Green Female-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She-Hulk#Collected_editions
Oh and Shulkie was a member of the Fantastic Four during the 80s.
Nice, and awesome at the same time. ^_^. I also just found this cool pic of She-Hulk.
!
Yeah, Adi Granov did a few cool Shulkie artwork too (I can't find the artbook that has his sketches and artwork for the Ironman movie in any Border's ;_; )
That is a nice one as well. -insert save-
I read super chronicles yesterday (Volume 2 and 3), when will they start to bring up the amount of super villains w/ super powers. Action Comics and Superman Comics reminds me of Detective Conan, in which superman solves diff crimes. All of them does interest but there is still that part that I want to see where it gets more interesting .
I also read some parts of Essential Hulk volume 2, he kicked ass (especially against Silver Surfer, though he did not really win in that one…or did he)?
Anyone know a place where I could read amazing spider man comics? That could in clude something like summaries (only 172 and after)
I hope you'll like it. BoP is a really fun series, I really liked how the main cast was small as it made it more easier to 'relate' to the characters. I still need to read Legacy, what with all the great things I've heard about it :/
cant find it yet..no comic shops here and the library is my source of comic reading XD
GOt today until 5.18:
Astonishing X-men: Torn(vol.3 in the Astonishing series)
The Mighty Avengers: the Ultron initiative(says its after the civil war series)
Avengers has
Wasp
Ms.Marvel
Black Widow
Wonder Man
Sentry
Ares
and Iron man
guess im in the wrong series to start with or near the current series
So I re-read the Hawkeye mini series today and found ANOTHER retcon from this Reunion mini.
At the end of the issue, since Hawkeye is going deaf and Doesn't want Mockingbird to know, he replies to Mockingbird's comment on them becoming an item with "Yeah, well see you around".
On the next page, it is explained (when they are in the heart-shaped bath) that Mockingbird run after him and forced him to explain himself. ALSO, it was her idea they elope.
This mini leads everyone to believe that Hawkeye proposed to her and that it was his idea they get together.
Also, just read ALL of Civil War (ALL OF IT). Catching up on Ms. Marvel as well.
My copy of Astonishing X-men Vol. 1: Gifted, which I'm getting for my brithday was shipped out today by Amazon.
Mom let me opened my brithday presents early today (Since my brithday is on Wednesday). Which I got Astonishing X-Men Vol. 1. So far I'm really enjoying it, I'm probably going to order Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 this week sometime.

Astonishing Book 3 is prob. my fav. of the series.
Yeah that Mighty Avengers story takes place after Civil War, and it's pretty good IMO, I really enjoyed it and Frank Cho's art is sexy.
@Sano- I strongly recommend you do, since the series just gets better after this first book. Then when you go back to reread the entire series again you'll realize just GREAT and fun it is.
Reading through my collection of the 80s Marvel Transformers series, and apparently Ratbat was left in charge of Cybertron after Shockwave went MiA.
Ratbat…left in charge....of Cybertron.
Reading the Simon Furman issues now and they're more enojyable IMO.
Oh and man I can't believe how much I fail for not even bringing this up or making a thread for this:
Free Comic Book Day was May 2nd! If anyone can STILL find a book or comic shop that does it, I strongly advise checking out some of the stuff there.
The Red 5 Comics' FCBD issue has a WONDERFUL Atomic Robo story (check my sig).
...and on that subject I strongly recommend giving Atomic Robo a read, the first 2 series of it have been collected into 2 books:
Book 1: Atomic Robo & the Fightin' Scientists of Tesladyne
Book 2: Dogs of war
I just finished reading Astonishing X-Men Vol. 1. Very interesting cliffhanger with Kitty and Emma. I love the character designs for the all the characters in this book, really realistic. Sometimes I wish I can draw that good, even through I have my own style of drawing. xD
I personally find Astonishing to be quite terrible (especially with what they do to a few characters; Should have been stuck in it's own universe like All-Star Batman and Robin) however, since you like it, tell me what you think AFTER Whedon's run is over.
As for Mighty Avengers, I really DID NOT like the opening arc. It shows how much of a boner Bendis gets for the goddamn wasp (Seriously? The Best Avenger? Are you kidding me?). Ares is VERY good here, though, and I have to read it for Ms. Marvel.
Personally, I find Bendis' work back here (when compared to recent stuff) to not be all that good. The whole "thought bubbles" throughout everyone's dialogue really grated on me. Even though I hated the political allegorys and found just about everything the government was doing in Civil War to be unconsitional, I REALLY liked Civil War and to read that Ultron arc coming out of it…it's just so underwhelming.
@Sano- Like I said that's just the begging, the later books just get better and better (IMO).

Our friendship is in jeopardy here man!
I actually do think that Whedon wanted it to be in it's own universe, but Marvel went ahead and made it canon anyways.
So really it'd be a fault on Marvel's side.
What didn't you like about it? …and please don't say it made Cyclops interesting, he's been interesting since 2001 >=(
I mean heck
! this is a spoiler for the end of Whedon's run BTW
! despite how not good the ending of his run may be, everything up til the final issue was very good and entertaining

Oh yes I liked Ares and Carol A LOT in this book, and I do reread it from time to time, and MAYBE Bendis was just being sarcastic about Wasp, if anything, Avengers is the one book I can think of where she had her most appearances.
Speaking of characters that became more interesting, I never gave a crap about Superboy/Conner Kent until Geoff Johns wrote him in Teen Titans, afterwhich he became one of my fav. DC characters.

It's like the whole DCAU Justice League situation to me…except Marvel decided to not make it in it's own universe. I know Whedon tried to push it in that direction (by avoiding major events being refelected in the book) but...well it didn't end up that way.
Actualy, I don't even really read the main X-books anymore because of the whole Xavier situation, Cyclops is just icing on the cake that I don't want.

Yeah…except she is one of his favorite characters (same with Luke Cage and Spider-Woman). Here's the thing. I like the other two characters but Janet Van Dyne is my most HATED Marvel character and she has never done a good thing in her entire career as a hero. Of course, since Bendis loves her his first mission is to create a scene in which he can create a nude scene for her and also has her sacrifice herself to save Earth (all while bringing up things that happened ages ago like Pym slapping her ONCE while he was drugged up...which she abused to marry him in the first place. Oh, and they act like she was some great Goddess that was a chairman of the Avengers...except to get that seat she abused the situation of her getting slapped to take control...all the while seducing both Hawkeye and Iron Man. Of course she was pulling stunts like that while she was with Pym (and people wondered why he wouldn't marry her...). Terrible character)
I'm so glad she's dead now.
Speaking of characters that became more interesting, I never gave a crap about Superboy/Conner Kent until Geoff Johns wrote him in Teen Titans, afterwhich he became one of my fav. DC characters.
Same. Which leads me to [Legion of Three Worlds #4 spoiler]
He's alive again…in the future! Also, if you didn't already know he's going to be the main character in Adventure comics in August (most likely with the Legion). All written by Geoff Johns, of course.
Actualy, I don't even really read the main X-books anymore because of the whole Xavier situation, Cyclops is just icing on the cake that I don't want.
Well I recommend picking it up from Messiah CompleX then reading X-Men Legacy, it basically has Xavier go on a soul search to fix all the screw-ups he's done to the people he's known over the past years.

Well I confess, if I read the older Avengers stories, I'd understand this more, but you put some interesting points.
Still I've never seen her in a series of her own, and didn't really feel annoyed by her presence in Might Avengers.

If you give me a little bit, I can give you the exact issues where the whole Pym-slap happened and you can see that ALL current writers have blown out of the water or semi-retconned what really happened.
Alright I'm uploading them now.
Alright, if this doesn't show you how messed up she is then I don't know what will.
Avengers 60 - Janet Van Dyen marries YELLOWJACKET (Yes, that's exactly right). She lies to everyone else and does not tell them that YellowJacket is Hank Pym because she knows that they know he doesn't want to marry her. YellowJacket is a completely different person than Hank
Avengers 213 is where YellowJacket comes up with this brilliant (stupid) plan to make himself a hero. Janet, who is clearly on her period, is obsessing over Hank and decides to visit him inside his lab that he locked himself in for something like 3 days. He knocks her down (remember, this is when he wasn't Hank Pym to himself, he was Yellowjacket) and tries to go through with his plan…it fails (read the ultimates version of this scene to see what current writers "remember" it as).
The other issues are to bridge to 217
217: Janet Proposes, as soon as the meeting starts, that they elect a new chairman and it be her (because they are "long overdue" for a new chairperson because she feels Cap. America has been it too long). Everyone agrees (why? If she is having so many problems shouldn't she sort them out?). Yellow Jacket (notice he has not gone back yet) screws more stuff up and ends up going to jail.
He doesn't go back to normal for a few more issues, in which he stops being a superhero for a while.
From the point of Issue 60-213, Wasp has been together with a messed up HAnk Pym she felt she could control. He didn't even want to marry her, which she used his mental illness to her advantage, cries a bunch and says how she pities him, dates a bunch of people, but as SOON as he's normal again she wants to be with him.
...
I could go one about crap with her but since the writers at Marvel love her and hate Pym, there's no point (Pym does have a TON of problems, however, most were caused by Janet lol).
[Still awake so here it is: [url]http://rapidshare.com/files/229035486/Avengers.rar.html]
Thanks for the link I'll give it a read then give my feedback, that's some messed up stuff though XD.
Sano, how'd you find Cyclops' character from this first book?
