I don't know if many people have played this, but it's a bit of a cult series, they're good games, and the 6th installment of the series is coming out soon:

I played the fuckjesus out of HoM&M 2 and 3 way back in the day. Was meh about IV and V, mostly because I didn't have a decent computer to play them at the time. I'll probably just stick to playing III on occasion, since it has the Conflux.
Heck yeah.
I pretty much only played III, though i've played II and IV a bit as well.
Conflux were just amazing, second only to Necropolis.
I never played 1 or 2, I did play 3 though which was great, but I thought it was a little dated, 4 was by far my favourite.
It looked the best, and the Heroes were much more fun.
Although I never played V because I heard it was bad, I looked into it recently though and it actually looks okay, so I'm gonna give it a go before 6 comes out I think.

In II I played pretty much every town except for Stronghold and Castle, they were a little boring. In III my favorites were Conflux and Dungeon. I did enjoy playing mixed NeCronflux in III, since elementals and undead were both immune to morale, and including undead with other units ordinarily was a major morale penalty. I could include the best units from both armies without worrying about morale, except I couldn't include Phoenixes (sadface).
If you like HoMM3, you might want to try the fan-made Wake of the Gods mod. It creates level 8 units (mostly upgrades to level 7s) and really nutty over-the-top maps.

I'm going to have to check that out, i need a reason to play III again.
Anyway, i'll probably get V someday soon, i just need to see how it holds up.

I actually decided to install V yesterday, only played it for a few "weeks" but it actually seemed pretty good.
Some faggot told me years ago that it was changed and you were only one character, but that doesn't seem to be true at all, it's the same format as the previous games just in 3D.

..Don't pay too much for V though. It is pretty much a devolution.
Ok, it is not a terrible game. But do not expect to play against 8 cpus (the next turn takes aages) or planned hero upgrading (your upgrades choices are from a random set each level up, as usual ok, but each race has a different dependency tree, therefore forget ever getting the ultimate skill since you either beat all enemies on your small map or picked the wrong skills earlier.
Wake of gods rules though (my inner munchkin fangasm once my necromancer hero reanimates power liches, instead of bah skeletons, and cries once an enemy hero with tiny experienced army steamrolls my newly bought horde)
But the best about wake of Gods is that all skills and items are useful, yes all. (with sorcery lvl 3 giving you ranged "pick up items & shrines" or learning 1 giving 100 exp per day, the stoic watchman or so giving you 15 gnolls per day usw..).
I'll check how much it is at the store, if it's too much i may be a naughty little boy and get it illegally. But if i find it to be good then i'll probably buy it as well.
I have to remind myself to download Wake of Gods as well, sounds like fun.
Yeah so I've been playing a bit of V the last few days, it is actually fairly good.
I would recommend it to those that haven't played.
Didn't really want to start a new thread just for this, so sorry for necro.
Anyway, remember that feeling when you want to replay entire game but can't just find the time or a good enough reason. I have that a lot with Baldur's Gate or Heroes of Might and Magic III?
Well, I guess HOMMIII is due to make me play just one more turn until morning in February!

Also on tablets, but I couldn't give less shit about that. Well, maybe if I got a bigger phone, but I would turn into a vegetable once this got out.
Though, I gotta ask, why not Complete Edition, instead of only Restoration of Erathia. That's a little upsetting. They probably want to milk that cow that is our nostalgia as much as they can, bastards.
Yeah I heard about that, it's awesome news but I won't buy it if it's not the Complete Edition. The expansions added great stuff and the Conflux is one of my favorite castles.
I heard it's about lost source code problems.
I think it was more of a financial issue. Ka-ching!
I doubt they put some real effort into this. HD mod has been out since 2012. I'll be really disappointed if's just HD graphics and HD sound and a couple of maps. I'm not even sure about HD sound thing.
If only they added some improvements from WOG, or at least made them optional. This game is a classic and I love everything about it, but it sure can use improvements in some areas.
What else… New maps of course, even if the internet is filled with those. New heroes, maybe couple of new artifacts and spells. Maybe some balancing too.
UPDATE: It's a con.

Better to stick wih mods. There are some pretty awesome ones out there. The only real plus I see is tablet support. But there are emulators for them too.
So, much ado about nothing, in short.
