I just saw this over at GameFAQs. It seems the 3DS is indeed region locked.
… Nooooooooooooooooooooooo D8 Fuck nintendo! :cwy:
What? I too was waiting for the 3DS from the shadows. :ninja:
There better be some easy way around region lock. How else are we supposed to play the next Jump fighter game?
It's more the likely going to be crap but there's a SSB-esque Cartoon Network game in the works. I hope that leads Nintendo make the real deal for the system.

That's a UK store, right?
If so, then UC may be my launch title. But only if we don't get Zelda.. If neither of them do, then I might get Nintendogs. I never got the original, but I liked it.. Ah we'll see.
Launch is definitely underwhelming.
I'm becoming less hyped for the 3DS. I'll probably still pick it up on launch day, but I was hoping for a better launchline, longer battery life, and the handheld itself NOT being built on miniaturized hardware.
Uh, didn't that confirm that the battery life was actually really good, and better than the DSi? Since it was confirmed they were talking about highest brightness setting for 3-5 hours, and the DSi gets 3-4 hours on highest brightness setting if I remember correctly. So the battery life has all but been confirmed to be pretty long on low brightness
For anyone interested in Super Street Fighter IV 3D, here are some confirmed modes for playing with people. Quick Match: Jump into a fight with a random person selected by the matchmaking software.
Custom Match: Same as above, but you’re able to set specific preferences.
Friend Match: Select an opponent from a friends list.
Also it seems that 3DS uses Friend Codes confirmed by SSF43D but to wether it's universal Friend Code or not is not confirmed. Lastly SSF43D can go online for worldwide matches for anyone with any doubts about it.
Was this mentioned?
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106871-Nintendo-Doling-Out-3DS-Currency-for-Exercise
Sounds nice. I used my Poke-Pedometer for months so it'll be nice to get rewarded again.
Damn, looks like I'll have to find mine…
Cool similar to the poke-walker but probably less easy to trick (on account of the walker being much cheaper). Imagine someone trying to cheat and tying their shiny new expensive 3DS to their windshield wiper…or dog.
The currency could potentially allow players to unlock new karts in Mario Kart, or could be something less substantial.
That sounds intriguing.
I just canceled my pre-order of a Japanese 3DS with the announcement of the March games.
Seriously, these games are crap. Why aren't there more Nintendo launch games anyways?
If the US launch lineup is any good I may pick up a US 3DS.
If there were so many launch games would you actually play ALL of them right away? I dont understand why people are complaining that there isnt more than two good games at launch. When in reality we ar emore likely to play all the good games if their releases are spread out rather than it all coming out at launch.
Plus remember what Miyamoto says all the time that would you rather get a rushed half assed game or a delayed GOOD game?
Well, Japan's March titles are:
-Winning Eleven 3DS
-Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition -Samurai Warriors: Chronicle
-Puzzle Bobble 3D
-Nintendogs & Cats (3 Versions)
-Ridge Racer 3D
-Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
-Professor Layton 5
-Asphalt 3D: Nitro Racing
-Pro Baseball Spirits 2011
-Blazblue Continuum Shift II
-The Sims 3
-My Garden
-Dead Or Alive Dimensions
-Shangai 3D Cube
-Super Monkey Ball 3D
-Naruto 3DS
-Virus Shooter XX
-Steel Diver
-Nikori No Puzzle
-Gundam: The 3D Battle
-Pro Baseball Famista 2011
-Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D
-Rabbids: Time Travel
I'd be quite happy to have 4 good games to play in month one.

I can see people exchanging FCs for Ridge racer 3d, SSFIV and Blazblue.
It looks like namco's phoning it in on their ridge racer game. Between that and the western Tales situation, I really have very little respect for them these days.

Yes.
When DS came out I bought 5 games and beat them all within 2 weeks.
Also, there should be one real GOOD 3DS launch game that ISN'T a port or clone of another game.
To me it seems surprising Nintendo haven't got a big name release for the 3DS.
Look at the others:
Wii: Zelda: Twilight
Cube: Luigi's Mansion/Smash Bros a week later.
DS: Mario 64 DS
64: Mario 64
GBA: Super Mario Advance (Mario USA)
GBA: SP : Zelda: Link to the Past
Snes: Mario Allstars (I think.)
What do we have here? Nintendogs and Layton? Sure Layton is a big name for the DS but still. Just seems kinda bleh.
Steel Diver is an EAD game.
Steel Diver is an EAD game.
So is Pilotwings Resort but you don't see me all over that one either.
Considering Iwata said the way games are being spaced is a strategic thing, I wouldn't be surprised if North America got a different launch and march lineup. Also, I feel the need to point out that while Nintendogs is note a core title, it is a big franchise for Nintendo. When you combine the 5 DS versions, the total sales make it the 4th highest selling game of all time that wasn't bundled with a system from day 1

not a bad startup to the gamelists..
although I do agree that there should be a good startup game for the US instead of these
Twilight Princess wasn't really a Wii launch title. It was a Gamecube game.
Sometimes I wonder how many people even played the cube version? Hell I wonder how many people actually know it exists.
I saw it once to buy. Then never again.
i have the cube version just because i had to wait till christmas for my wii and i didn't want to wait for zelda :P
Sometimes I wonder how many people even played the cube version? Hell I wonder how many people actually know it exists.
I "own" and played both.
Just imagine how utterly confusing this shit got. No matter where I was, I ran in the wrong direction ALL THE EFFIN' TIME. I only played the GC version one single time (I "own" the Wii, my sister "owns" the GC), but that was my first time playing the game, so it got stuck in my head. So frustrating!
I don't mind that there won't be a "big" game to accompany the 3DS. I'll just go and get it whenever a game I want comes out.
Again, technically in Nintendo's eyes Nintendogs is a BIG game, considering the enormous sales of the DS versions. It isn't a core game, and not one that I myself am interested in, but saying Nintendo isn't releasing any big games themselves is a bit ignorant. Although I do think they should've put a big hardcore game on the launch list as well, and who knows, others parts of the world might have totally different launch lineups
Wasn't Nintendogs the game that started giving the DS the huge sales?

I only ever saw one copy, it was hidden away on the pre-owned section (the game was new), so I bought it :P

Brain Training started it first, if I remember right, but Nintendogs certainly helped.
So is Pilotwings Resort but you don't see me all over that one either.
I however am. Assuming it's of similar quality to the snes/64 iterations.
Though the use of mii's doesn't bode well.
So it seems its possible a new metroid game or remake will be announced at the 3ds press events on the 19th. Appearently, Jonathan Ross, who will be hosting the European event, posted on twitter that there would be some unexpected revivals, and when somebody asked about Metroid, he said "I think you're going to be pleased then…"
I hope this is true, and that its better than the type of things I've heard about Other M (which I haven't played myself, since I heard a lot of bad things about the story in it)

I didn't beat it yet, but from I have played it's fine (in Japanese, at least).
I only played the intro in English but the Japanese game has dual language support.
I wish they'd use Jonathon Ross instead of Ant + Dec and JLS for their adverts. He's at least a nerd too.
Unexpected revivals…hmmm.
I'm calling Ice Climbers 3DS
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/01/17/one_piece_new_characters/
The Cruise 1 & 2 port apparently has new characters & other stuff.

We saw pictures of Ivankov and Hancock fighting marines. They're in the UC 3DS topic if anyone has yet to see them.

But then you have… Jedward advertising Dragon Quest.
jz5l4_bN9W0
JLS and Ant & Dec suddenly seem so good.
Ideally I think Nintendo should try and get a hold of Richard Ayoade to try and advertise the 3DS in the UK. Heck I think there is an advertising goldmine in him that has gone completely untapped by the games market.
I never ever saw the Jedward one lol. They need to be killed off quickly too.
And yes. Richard Ayoade needs way more love. Especially if he could use one of his one-liners.

Ugh. Why did they think those 2 would be a good choice to promote that game? They are so fucking annoying. Their 15 mins of fame was gone long ago and yet still continue to milk it.

I think he was in the big Mario 25th Anniversary ad with a load of other celebrities.
Jonathan Ross is like my Hero; he tweeted me on Twitter talking about his manga he likes and he's vaguely familiar with One Piece.
Put in my £20 at GAME, so now the waiting game begins…
Put in my £20 at GAME, so now the waiting game begins…
£20? Um…which GAME is this? Or are you getting two?
They have been doing pre-orders for £10 in the North East and online.
European live stream for todays press event here: http://live.nintendo3ds.nintendo-europe.com/
Had a quick look and I actually couldn't find an american one, there should be one somewhere though.
So apparently March 25th release in the UK according to Asda
looks good to me. Hopefully it's correct.
Just gonna post all the stuff on here since it's quicker and doesn't spam. Note: This is for the UK/Europe one. So may be different to America.
So the colours are Blue and Black? Damn. I wanted that Sexy Robin purple one. Or at least the Red one :/
Oh nice. 3D photos.
Eurosport announced too….woo?
ooooh. Sky 3D!
Come on. Get aunty Beeb on board! I want DW 3D!
Aardman joins up with Ninty.
Shaun The Sheep 3D for it. Meh. Childrens thing.
Street pass allows you to play online against other people once you get the data. if you want them to. Street Fighter is compatible
So the Friend Codes are basically like PSN etc where you have one account.
Street Fighter
Street Fighter uses Fighter Figurines in order to fight on the Street Pass thingy. Has four different modes apparently. Internet Play confirmed. Obviously.
New Mode: People can view other people's online matches.
35 Characters (dunno if this is more than the other ones but still.)
haha. Ross wants Street Fighter vs Animal Crossing
Rayman, Combat of Giants, Driver, Ghost Recon, Spliter Cell, Rabbits, Petz games from Ubisoft (All already confirmed I think, they didn't really show anything of them.)
Is the translator the guy from the Office btw? (The UK one.)
Pro Evolution Soccer
It's football. IN 3D
New camera positions.
Made to feel watching matches in stadium instead of on TV. Hey! You can stand in a cold field to get the real experience!
Dead or Alive Dimensions (Ross compared Team Ninja to a shadowy government who kill people in their sleep lol.)
Says they've been silent since 2006 (DOA4) looks like even they are embarrassed about the Volleyball series.)
Shooting missions? (webcast screwed up a lil here so I dunno.)
It's a Best Of Version of Dead or Alive.
Combo attacks can be used via the touch screen instead of the buttons for newcomers.
Wireless online play.: Head to Head, Co-Op, Streetpass.
Pilotwings Just shown some drop scenes.
Nintendogs + Cats 3 Versions available (2 dogs + 1 Cats)
Puppies + Kittens will look different compared to same breeds
Recognises your face, if you don't play puppy might get scared and bark.
Steel Diver Submarine game
Zelda: Ocarina Just says it's back
Kid Icarus: Uprising Basically used to show off shooting games.
3DS Software Take pics to make Miis. Look kinda amusing.
Some sort of fitness thing
Some cool looking thing where you take pics of objects, 3DS turns them into monsters
Miis used to play games online etc.
One Pre-installed on 3DS. Shooting Gallery
Internet Browser +_e-shop
Super Mario Land + Link's Awakening for the e-shop
3Ds
Resi is release day game it seems (but it's very vague) They said about 25 games for launch window.
25th March release date. Blue or Black
£????? Says go to shops for it. (so they can charge whatever)
So basically it's all old stuff. No price. No confirmed release date games. 25th March.
Just watched the US stream on GameSpot. March 27th release date and $249.99 for price. Might pick this up at launch maybe. I hope I'll have the funds by then.
yours finished already? Wow. Ours is still going on XD
The 3DS will be released on March the 25th in Europe!
