Really? o: I can't wait to see that. Is anyone else based on other characters?
Hiroy Descriminates Art once Again ver2
-
-
Everyone is loosely based off someone in some way or another :D It's all the reason why Syn has gone through alot of design changes since she was made.
-
I see~ o: Has her personality been the same throughout?
Haha. Reminds me of Jiyu and Aden. I still have the first concept sketch of them; they look completely different.
-
Well, she was 18 in the old comics. She retained alot of her current personality but she's alot less naive and mainly chose guys to be friends with(for reasons I'll later get into… very later... in fact, at the end of this comic... in fact, there's bits in the the final legs of the old comic that hints how it ends... maybe i should delete those... maybe not... stares around)
-
Spoilers? Oooohhh. I wonder why she prefers guy friends. o:
-
Protection mainly. Even though she looks out for them on more occasions. But the deeper reasons are the spoilers.
Edit: Holy shit.. The spoilers are really damned big. I really gotta open that old account and edit that. Not to mention there are several story bits I changed completely. Good lord!
-
Cool. o: That sounds really interesting… How long 'till we actually get there? lol
-
Hm.. After like 1… 2... then the last arc... 3 arcs?
-
So three arcs 'till or 'till the third arc? o:
-
3 arcs till :)
And good. You have no idea what I'm talking about. All is well.
-
B-but… I like know what people are talking about! And I love learning! D:
-
Well, the end was writen in the artist comment for this a few minutes ago. Hehehe
-
You little troll. xD You just had to say it was there and that it's gone now.
-
I'm really sensitive over this sorta thing :D Here's hoping no one that read that back then even remembers.
-
Well, at least you know I have no clue about the ending. lol

Synful Syn Part 1-10

Let's just say I have no idea what's gonna happen besides the relationship between Syn and Leo. lol

(go ahead and color it. It's yours afterall :) )
Thanks hun! It's such a great pic–I can see using a lot of red and orange and purple and black to color it, kind of like some of the colorful Homestuck art I've seen on DA.
I'm even more glad that this means more art from you.
Aw, you're too kind! Actually, I should thank you for giving me the motivation to start drawing again. I pretty much stopped cold in…'06? '07? Somewhere around that time. It's been a while and I've forgotten how much I enjoy it--especially drawing for friends. ^^
I'll be prepared this timeorders a heat proof shirt

This is great! I took the liberty of reading your entire comic from the beginning and I have to say that I really enjoyed both the art and the characters. Syn and Leo have a great dynamic, and her bold, outspoken nature compliments his jittery personality in a wonderfully charming way. And the comic has a really nice range of humor as well, from (semi) slapstick to understated. I can't wait to see more!
You mean you're not?!
It'll be our secret~

That's great! I hate it when people who have talent in art stop what they love doing–it just saddens me. (I know too many people like this)

Aww, well, I've never really thought that I had talent, but it was still something that I liked to do. But then I got busy and had a lot of stresses to deal with, and I just sort of fell out of the habit. It's kind of ironic, that people so often drop their hobbies during times of stress, which is usually when they need the distraction the most.
Though now that I'm done with my summer classes (with college, actually!), I'll need something to do with all that extra time. So why not rekindle an old love with art, you know? ^^

Maybe that's just an art bias I have, then. But talent is a thing that people don't really know they have. But I'm glad you're getting back into it. Though, considering you stopped drawing because of college stress and I'm almost about to enter… thankfully my major is gonna be art.
Nice to see you finished college (god I feel so young compared to everyone lol) and are drawing again. I can't wait to see some more of your art~

Thank Vee. I'm literally gaping with with most awkwardly embarrassing smile ever upon reading this because… well... I'm surprised that my characters could be described in such a way. Thank you. I almost can't wait until I reach the part where Syn meets yet another new friend in about a few more pages. She has this strange chemistry with strange people.

@Dervish/Al!na Pic: Nice.

Well, some of it was due to college stress, but more of it had to do with an illness in the family that sapped a lot of my time and emotional energy, so don't worry too much about that in terms of your own artistic pursuit–if you're dedicated, you'll find the time. And an art major sounds wonderful, Sai! I remember my art electives quite fondly; that's something that I definitely wouldn't mind returning to college one day for. And if it's your passion, then you should definitely pursue it. I think that if you pursue a career in something that you love and are passionate about, you'll never truly "work" a day in your life. ^^
"Colorful". Hahahah. Yeah. They are indeed colorful.
You know, I need to read the Homestuck comics, I think. I've seen so much…interesting fanart to have peaked my curiosity about the series.
(If fanart is to be believed (LOL), it is apparently about gay trolls or something.)

You're very welcome, but I'm just telling ya how I feel. ^^ Oho, and I'm very eager to meet Syn's new friend! She certainly does have that special something that attracts unique and colorful people, so I can't wait to see who she runs into next. Also I was wondering–how many "partners in crime" do you plan to introduce in this series? I ask because Syn seems to me to perhaps be the sort of person who knows many people, but has few true friends. I may be wrong, but this feeling does make me curious to know how big the main cast will be.
I hate being a college dropout at the moment… but it created this comic :D
Sometimes, you just have to take a break from school to prioritize the things in your life. I stopped going for a long time myself, actually. But as long as you're doing something productive with your life (in your case, pursuing your art and creating this wonderful comic), then I think it's time well-spent. College (and evil subjects like algebra) will always be there for you to pick back up again when you're ready.

An illness? D: I'm sorry to hear that–I hope everything ended well.
I've been into art since I was three years old. I love it. I even remember once when I was in... third? grade that I tried to make an animation of a cartoon dog. (it sucked of course; plus I didn't have the right paper, lol) I draw almost everyday. It's something I've loved since I was little, and I have my sister to thank for it. (and anime, too--but mostly my sis.) I love the challenge in drawing something difficult, and I especially love coloring, be it with colored pencils, paint, pens, or computer programs. I just hope after I get out of college, I can find a good job. Artists don't exactly have an easy time when it comes to jobs. But, if not, I could do stuff like commissions while working a seperate job to get money. But one way or another, I will get into the art field. I just love it too much.

Half true. It's about this game that apparently takes place in our current universe, and players create separate "sessions" in where they either die or finish it. That's just the surface. It's vast and extremely complicated stuff, but it's a quite a fun experience. The Trolls are the favored characters in the fandom. I don't like most of them as much, but some are really amusing…. though personally they don't hold a candle to main characters. I think you may like it. Be warned though. You don't get the series' direction until the end of Act 2.
You'll have to pry it from my fingertips first, bwahaha~ http://i39.tinypic.com/2lwrla9.jpg
I'll find another way. You can apparently make illegal copies of Earth.

Well, Syn's name is really famous in the school, but not a in a good way. Miss Silvestia was the school's drama teacher, and her dad was accused of her murder. You can imagine the reputation she had at the time and how was dealing with it(she actually avoided going back to school for a month after the arrest).
As for the mian cast, I try not to to keep that part a secret. Syn, Leo and Evi the mains. Under Syn's wing, she becomes friends with 2 other girls. Under Evi's wing, she has a ton "friends"(it's a clique) but only 2 are important(her boyfriend Richter and another girl). Under Leo's er… wing... or whatever... He has one additional character that used to be his friend. Aside from that, there's family characters, teachers, and some "villains". I have it all ready and written down in head already.

I know. I just don't like my family bugging me about it. I just want to see if I can earn enough money to get myself tutoring to better prepare myself for College Algebra. I've failed it so many times now ._. But I know it's not going anywhere. Thanks Vee.

@Sai: Sadly, the person in question didn't recover, but I appreciate the sentiment, hun. ;) And it seems like art has been your passion for the majority of your life! If that's the case, then you're definitely right to pursue it as a career. Yes, art is a very competitive field to navigate professionally, and a lot of artists have other jobs to make ends meet while they build their portfolio, but hey–anything worth having is worth fighting for, and if you love what you do, you'll find a way to succeed. I truly believe that!
I think you may like it. Be warned though. You don't get the series' direction until the end of Act 2.
Ah, thanks for letting me know–I admit, I was reading a little of the comic earlier and was kind of wondering where it was going. But if it just needs time to find its feet, I'll stick with it. ^^

Indeed, that must be very tough for her and her mother. I probably would have pushed to transfer if I were in the same situation–but then Syn is a strong character, I like to think she's capable of handling the pressure. And I definitely want to find out the circumstances surrounding Miss Silvestia's death and if Syn's father is exonerated. (and who those mysterious, shady figures are in part 9!)

Wow, sounds like you've done quite a lot of planning for the series! I'm actually glad that you're keeping the main cast small, as I think it allows for more character development in the long run. Do you have the ending in mind already? I won't pester you for the details if so, I'm just curious if you had an idea in mind or if you plan to write the ending when you get to it, so to speak.
And looking at your retrospective, I can definitely see the Nami and Rei influence in Syn's character! (I've not played/watched the other series, I'm afraid)

You're welcome, Hiroy. I know how it feels to have family breathing down your neck when you're doing something contrary to their wishes. I'm sorry to hear that, but if you need the extra time to work on your math skills, then they just need to respect that, I think. Oh god, and don't even get me started about my disgust for math. I will gladly take any class imaginable to avoid having to take a math class–even if the class is about, I don't know, "The History of Corn" or something. Does your math class have to be algebra, though? I know some colleges just require you to pass one or two college-level math courses without specifying algebra. You might have better luck with statistics or something. D:

Yeah, I'm going to cover the stuff dealing with her dad in the final arc, though I'm going to try to foreshadow what kind of person Syn's dad is. I was about to do something earlier, but wasn't sure if inmates accused of murder was realistically allowed to phone their family… But yeah, that's probably the most darkest side of the plot ever. I was having a bit of a hard time whether or not to drop it completely, but I'll stick to it.

I actually have a good idea on how I plan to end it. The details surrounding it is likely to change, especially since the supporting cast can go in different directions. That and I tend not to waste time making a storyboards or anything related to the ending, because lord knows I'd probably lose interests in it later. Still, I'm really looking forward to that moment as the whole story is about Syn's life before she ended up moving.
And looking at your retrospective, I can definitely see the Nami and Rei influence in Syn's character! (I've not played/watched the other series, I'm afraid)
Well, Jenny is mainly for the eyes. The whole show had that way of drawing eyelids that felt "oldschool" like its inspiration was taken from old Disney or Astro Boy. It was rare I made an observation like that in a modern show. Then I decided to give Syn these crest-moon eyelids(though it changes from that to a pac-man silhouette at times). Maria is captian of a drop-ship called the Diplo. You can say I was more taken into her good-natured leadership qualities. though she's awful strict and impatient at times.

I wish but whenever I register for something else, I can't because the site says I HAVE to repeat Algebra. Such BS.
And yes, I may not seem to make the best of decisions and they may even look down on my methods… but I stopped caring. It's not like they have control over what I do afterall. But still, I'll have to be more assertive on finding even better ways to go through with this.

Scaring away the lame Drake bandwagoners. One pawn at a time.
I should really get into playing chess.

I never cared about Drake, honestly. Maybe it's because I don't like Drake/Bonney…
Seeing as chess comes up so many times in so many different shows, I'd think that's a good idea.

Aside from Law(to a very small extent), the Supernovas are don't please me as much. Thier designs are cool, and thier powers are cool.. but they are aren't any cooler than Wapol(who is cool).
Anyway. I should update some real art in here before someone rates my thread a 2/5 instead of facing "me the troll" face to face.
