Has anyone here ever dealt with doing a manga version of a character with your own color scheme, only to have it turn out to be wrong or partially wrong?
I don't think its that big of a deal. You made a costume based on the manga. The manga is black and white. When I saw your Enies Lobby costume at Anime USA I knew immediately what it was you were cosplaying, the colors were irrelevant. The construction of the costume was correct.
So if someone came up to you and says, "hey your Nami costume colors are wrong you know." You can just say it was based on the manga and this was your interpretation.
My colors are wrong too, but I like what I picked. :P

Anyway, I've never really cosplayed, mainly because I don't have the skills and there has never been an anime con were I live, but... about two weeks ago a friend invited me to a LARP (Live Action Role Play) and I found myself desperately trying to put a cosplay together. In the end I sort of ended up going as a wizard out of the Arabian Nights, or something along that line (with a curtain rail for a wand, go me!) but I wasn't really satisfied with the outcome. The next LARP is in a month and I want to improve my gear. Could any of you post some tips and tricks on costume-making? I'd be really thankful.

Megakazul - There is a story in NYC just a few blocks from port authority bus terminal that is AWESOME. It's on the corner of…8th and 35th? I think. It's between Gray's Papaya and the Hotel New Yorker. It's called Beauty 35. I was just there not long ago, I'm not sure what they had in the pink department. Your best bet might be http://www.cosworx.com , cosplay.com's wig store. They have good stuff.

Monkey - Hmm, is there anything specific you'd like to know about? Two tricks that always have helped me - The Salvation Army/Thrift Stores are your friend. You'd be amazed by what you can find for costuming there for cheap. Also, anything can be a pattern if you turn it inside out. Bathrobes make great kimono patterns (or even wizard robes if you fussed with it!)Woo, I think that's everyone. Back to the sewing machine with me!

Yeaaa sowwwy ginny, its beause i got in a stoopid car accidnet , it was such a minor bumper damage but i gotta pay out my ass for it. I'm waiting till otakon to bust out my franky cosplay. wayyyy too cold for him right now. I should have my Kuro, jump point chopper and Gin cosplay done by anime next, you going to anime boston ginny?

FFU: This is the wig I am using: wig. That plus the styrofoam wig head will cost me about 48 USD.
I don't know if they ship internationally…I never paid attention to that heh. Or if they do, I am not for sure how long it would take to get to you.
I was wondering if you'd buy that or not.

Man, the more I'm thinking about it. The more Im thinking I might not be able to pull off Fullbody and be better off doing Johnny. Thank god I have until May to figure it out. I guess I have the items to do Johnny here in the house. Omnichiled, do they allow bokkens at acen? It's the next closest thing I have to a sword that isn't one.
