It was released once. Back in 2005 I believe along with Nami V.2 and Bellemere. Over the course of its time he, Tashigi and Bellemere struggled to sell. Eventually once the neos begun to be released it did sell.
Smoker is a pretty popular character and since people had the crew and some of the others he sold pretty well on the likes of ebay.
Last year (I think) hlj found some stock in their warehouse and sold him.
Now it'll be Bellemere or Usopp + Chopper combo which is worth the most.

Anyone here that paid taxes when you order/bring in merchendise from other countrys? So for say i order 5 P.O.Ps and its worth 20 000 yen. How often does it happen that you have to pay tax when you bring it in? Is it random? Beacuse when im going home im gonna send some boxes full om OP and random stuff from japan, how can they and even i remember the prices of all items, its tons and tons of diffrent items and small ones.
And how is it when you check in to the airport? beacuse i will have some stuff in my suitcase aswell… Is there a law of how much you actually are allowed to bring home?

If its a gift they dont see it as merchandice so u dont have to pay taksen. BUT if u live in the usa and u like ordered something froma site and u WOULD like to have INCURANCE over the shipping. than they know howmuch the package is worth. so than thay can say that u need 2 pay takses. And maybe also if u incure ure own packedge for 20000 yen maybe they see it as merch also, but i dont know that.

On December 3rd i ordered POP Aokiji and POP Mihawk. They were lost in the mail. They arrived at my house today. I opened the box to discover they are horrible counterfeits. Mihawk broke less than a minute after i took him out.

Where did you buy them? And yeah, you should've been a bit suspicious of that price for them ://I mean, if they were ever found at those prices I think they would've at least gotten a place on this thread or there'd be someone who already got them with no problems ^^;
Was that from Ebay? Cause you might want to check out their new protection program or whatever thing? If the info was given to you as "the originals" and they turned out to be bootlegs, they might be able to do something about it.

Well yes but he isnt in scale xD. the only pops i like are lucci, sogeking, (believe it or not) Sanji and some sw pops like the suit editions. And i only care for the crew to have in POP. But i think many of the PoP looks off :S.
i dont like ace,luffy. the weird stances of robin and nami, And zoro's weird looking outfit:P and i just KNOW that in the future pops will be better so i like to wait. I can resist to buy stuff xD ''Gosh i am gifted with it''. -
So I have an honest question to ask all OP merchandise people here, mainly P.O.P. buyers, and even more specifically, those fangasming over P.O.P. Smoker.
Why do you want him so bad?
Don't answer if it's one of these two reasons. 1) You're a die hard Smoker fan. He's your favorite character, and you missed out on him the first time. 2) You're a P.O.P. completionist. Need every single one, just because it bears "Megahouse – Portrait of Pirates." The desire is justified if you fit either of these.
Is it because he was so expensive before? They mystery and allure of such a high priced figure was out of reach for most people, and now that he's back at around the original selling price, is it now a must buy? Like others originally pointed out, Smoker didn't sell that well when he was first released. If you're buying him to resell at those high prices sometime in the future...well, you'll probably have to wait a while. Megahouse has been doing 2nd printings of all there figures since the Neo releases came out. So there'll be an adequate supply of Smoker in a few months after his June release.
I'm just trying to find out why all this fervor was absent when Smoker was released around 2005-2006. Honest question, because I'm really curious. From a P.O.P. collector, I've steeled myself to only buy Strawhats, and I'm already not following it by not buying the non-suit Strong World P.O.Ps. And the only non-Strawhat figures I've gotten were the of characters that I really like (Shanks and Mr. 2). While Smoker does it for some, he has no real appeal to me. I am glad for you though, if you've really wanted him for a long time, but couldn't get him due to price.

i got all standard p.o.p releases since since the neo's started in september '07.the stuff i don't have and don't want:

or something else maybe….If u throw the box away, the figure become less worth. So if ure a collector and want to keep the worth of the figure, u SCHOULD-MUST keep the boxes.

I keep most of them in one giant TV box in my basement and the others are stacked perilously in my closet...I'm just waiting for them to all come down on my head and scare me half to death :P

Boxes i dont see a reason to throw them away. Sure if you dont have space.
But even then i would probally remove the inside and fold them in some way.
All my boxes are complete and i like to keep them all. Not for value or for re-sale. They are a part of my collection.POP Smoker is awesome _ sure iam a completionist but he sure is in my TOP 5 favorite POP.

Hmm… why did I buy smoker originally? I got ace, then decided he looked so good I got all the others original release. I think I liked tashigi, and if I had tashigi I had to have smoker next to her, so it was only natural. Plus I have a bit of completionist bug. I only don't have carue because I just... couldn't.
I'm buying smoker again because I sold both of mine so this is a nice opportunity to regain my loss.
Plus, really, POPs are the only things I let myself collect other than some odds and ends. This is all I have, so I'm sure to have all of them! -
lets see. I want Smoker because he's the only Male P.O.P. that I always sorta wanted that I didn't have. Mind you I don't have all the male P.O.P.s, just the ones I like or of the characters I wanted. I actually thought Smoker looked weird and ugly at first as the P.O.P. and of COARSE his price detered me from buying him anyways. I wasn't into OP hard core when OP first came out. When I got my first P.O.P. is was in 2007 and it was Usopp/Chopper with no box and then Luffy Neo xD before that I was a dumb ass and didn't know WHERE people were getting these amazing tall awesome figures.
However, I also wanted Smoker in a way because I felt like my collection was lacking because everyone else had him and that made me want him too… that and his chest is exposed __ mmmmm yes. And also... I wanted him because of the marines. I wanna make a Marine shelf xD so I need him and Tashigi to go with Aokiji and my Kizaru xD

Smoker has nice musculature. I like drawing musculature. There's nothing like having a nice 3-D model by my side to help me do just that. c;
And he just looks interesting. Most of my other figures are rather dark complexioned, and Smoker's the only one so far who has wispy grey colored hair.
We'll see if I can afford him after my recent splurges, though. ._.

I can see why people want Smoker. Look at how damn much he WAS on ebay/yahoojapan? Some people were unable to get him, and especially with his price as of recent they for SURE couldn't afford him. I honestly hate the P.O.P, I think they did a terrible horrible job on him, his face is ugly, his hair is ugly, but I guess fro the neck down he looks alright. I would NEVER spend 500+ bucks on him. NEVER, NEVER NEVER!!! I wouldn't only spend that much on a damn computer or something I needed that was a necessity.
SO, I see it as people who kinda wanted him but couldn't afford him are now reserving him because they're excited. I doubt seriously their will be a Smoker/Tashigi shortage after this. PLUS, no one is really 100% sure yet, but since they're re-releasing them, maybe they revamped them and made them look better, more detailed? That's what I'm hoping for. So some people are thrilled that not only did they NOT pay out the ass for both Tashigi and Smoker, but now since they waited and can get them for practically dirt cheap in compassion to what they were, they might be able to get even BETTER versions than the former expensive ones.
Also someone new might of gotten into the fandom and wanted to collect all P.O.P's, I would have to say with how cheap Smoker and Tashigi are now, they can save back all that money they're saving and finally get that Usopp/Chopper they soo desire xD
