Where is god? Where are miracles? Why do people (that did nothing) die everyday? Why are poor kids starving to death? Why do people suffer from wars made by crazy people? Religion imo creates its own reality…
Humans should stop waiting for a god to solve their problems.
This shows you don't understand the idea of religions that believe in such things.
A Fundamentalist nut-job might argue that God saved them from riding an airplane that crashed. They would also explain suffering by, "God works in mysterious ways."
The most astute explanation is somewhere inbetween.
God didn't spare you from riding an airplane stupid.
And God doesn't let people suffer for a reason.
The idea that sane believers hold is that God is a source of life. And as such, it's responsible for the events that have led us to where we are.
That doesn't mean God inspired you to draw a painting or some shit. It means that the source of creativity in you, is something that originated as a gift of life. Naturally YOUR IDEAS and what you do are shaped by those who raised you, but their sources go back to their parents blah blah missing link, dinosaurs, fish, amoeba, primordial ooze. Everything that happens has happened due to that being, being there and what it did or didn't do to help present day reach what it is.
Non-insane Christianity is simply being thankful for that fact.
So when someone says, "God doesn't exist because of suffering!"
That's pretty fucking stupid. Even though I don't believe in Jesus or miracles or anything in the Bible for that matter, I consider myself Christian because I believe in leading my life to serve others and admit that I don't have all the answers.
Some dickhead Christians want to think they have all the answers.
A lot of dickhead Atheists think they've had the answers because they saw a clip on YouTube.
But you don't. And everyone can agree with that.
There's suffering because we're people. God doesn't come into our life and touch us. We move ourselves, but the source, the power, whatever it was that set these things in motion for me to be where I am this very moment, is something far more grand than myself.
I know that for a fact because if I'm the ultimate being in the universe, we should just pack up our bags and jump into the sun right now.
