Back at the time of DBZ's height of popularity in america, fans demanded that Cartoon Network put it on uncut at a later hour. Well, even though it may be a little late apparently fans pleas didn't fall on Cartoon Network's deaf ears and it's finally happening. DBZ Uncut is finally arriving on Carton Network. The series will restart from the very beginning for it's firts run through the fight with Raditz to the end of the Saiyan saga in completely unedited glory (well…sorta) starting Tuesady, June 14th (Tommorow) at 10:30 PM Eastern Time (A mere 30 minutes before adult swim). The seres will also not be Geneon's early hokey dub with the shitty VAs but will be from Funimation's re-release of the series through the "Ultamite Uncuts" line. Though it will mostly be uncut, you can guarantee that a few things will be taken out for it's run on public TV, namely some of the most graphic images and all frontal nudity (but c'mon...i'd say all DBZ fans would rather see uncut fighting than Goku and Gohan's balls.) Aside from those minor details though, the sydicated run of DBZ uncut should be a delight to hardcore Dragonball fans and casual fans who'd like to see what they missed alike. Uncut DBZ premiers tommorow, June 14th at 10:30 est time. Anyone got any thoughts or complaints about this?

The Funimation VA's suck. Bleh. I would much rather them re-air the older version of Season 1+2.
-
The VA's really don't matter to me as long as I don't have to deal with the infamous "It's ok…I see their parahcutes" scene again.
-
I cant wait for this, DBZ is one of the resones why I like anime, I remenber when I would watch the eary eps of DBZ on the local ch's like around 11 AM- noon and even seeing it in spanish.
-
I'm with you. This whole thing has got my DBZ fandom meter charged right back up again. It may have lost mainstream popularity but i'm right back on the bandwagon.
-
Sorry to break this to you, but it's not uncut.
From ANN
Errata: DBZ Uncut not on Toonami (2005-06-09 12:48:26)
DBZ will not be airing uncut on Toonami as previously mentioned. DBZ will be airing on Cartoon Network Monday - Thursday at 10:30pm, outside of the Toonami block, which airs on Saturday Night. -
Plus it going to be Tv-PG which mean it could get away with more stuff than on toonami. Also if its prove to be an great succese(SP)(Which it should be) it could open up to shows that was "Forgoten" like YYH or DC/CC.
-
I never said it was going to be completely uncut. I said that it will be for the most aprt but they cant get away with the most graphic and gratuitous stuff because it's on public TV. Besides…ANN has been wrong on several ocassions. Hopefully Yu Yu Hakusho will go on their as well too. I miss it.
-
ANN lists One Piece the manga…..as having Bloodless violence.
In other words...
-
I'll finish that sentance for you Zephos.
In other words…ANN has no fucking clue what they're talking about.
OP has bloodless violence like Mike Tyson has a career.
-
rimshot I hope ann is wrong because i remember watching those episodes like at 6 am on the WB and it would be a little nostalgic to be seeing them again in a closer to the original form
-
Yeah, mabey this time those building wont be "empty because it's sunday" when Vegeta and Nappa blow them up.
-
omg wow uncut, we get to see a little bit of bludd!!11 orgams
I'm with The Dude. Haha, I remember when Cartoon Network aired "uncut" DBZ episodes a few years back.
-
Makes me glad I ordered the original Japanese series as a HK set off EBay a few weeks back, with pretty decent subtitles, too.
Either way, I wouldn't trust anyone to leave them Uncut. Aside from Blue Water Studios, who left the show as it pretty much was, and didn't ass-rape Dragonball/Dragonball GT to Hell.
Then again, I never did like GT…
-
I've been waiting a good while for this to happen too. I heard that Nappa's death is pretty graphic! Bloodspray…yummy! I'm gonna buy the "Ultimate Uncuts" for the Frieza saga when it comes out!
-
What Funi needs to do is redub all of the Freeza saga. Freeza's english voice is terrible.
-
DB is probably what spoiled me on anime for years.
It was about the first really obviously "not designed for the American market" my local station tried to broadcast. All I remember of it was:
-Despite the name, dragons played virtually no role in the story beyond the opening sequence
-They spent a great deal of time whining about reincarnating some silly looking green bloke (Piccolo?) who seemed to just waddle around with a halo on his head.
-They spent equally much time staring into little augmented-vision doodads and yelling "Hey, that bloke has power level only 1000" just to be beaten senseless seconds later.
I asked a DB fan to explain the plot, and from what I saw, there's no way in hell I'd have ever guessed it was about the conflict between two martial arts schools.

And change the dialogue, 'MONDO COOOOOOL!!!!"
Didn't they have kursing in those dubs though. I swore I heard Goku say damn, and Dende's famous "Don't piss off the god of love."
-
Yeah, the dragon of love thing did slip by someone, that i remember.
I'm not TOO psyched for this. I can just get the japanese episodes off Box Torrents easy-peesy (and if they suck, there's always the subs on the DVDs, which are done by someone who's compotent). Plus, I'm pretty sure the "uncut" versions still have all those dumbass script changes.
And I still hate the name "Hercule"….
-
lol, is satan so much worse than videl? if you rearrange a few letters you have the same shit
-
I don't see what the big deal about them redubbing it anyway. Could it be they're trying to milk the series for all it's worth?
-
What makes it worse is that there's so many better ways they could've gotten around that. Runor was that they were gonna call 'im Mr. Savage. OR they could've just altered the spelling and pronounced it they way they do in Japan "Sah-tahn".
But I digress…
As for why they're redubbing it, it's basically to make the first episodes match up with the rest of the series.
Besides, the Canadians did their own dub of the later episodes, retaining the ocean cast.

The mistake wasn't that it wasn't going to be uncut, the mistake was that it wasn't on the programming block they mentioned. The uncut won't be on toonami which is only on saturdays, but instead on tuesday, which there is no toonami block. ANN just wrote it in a way that could be confused.
So yeah it's uncut, plus i saw a commercial for it saying it was uncut.
I'm looking forward to it, just for the fact that I'm too busy downloading other series from Box Torrents that I don't have time to download one I've already seen.
DBZ got me into anime, so I'm happy. I hate it when I see people complain about a show being too "DBZ-ish". Alright, so after Freeza the story takes a nosedive but it was good up until then, and i had heard that's where Toriyama wanted to stop but Toei wanted to make some more money since it was so popular.
Two of my favorite anime's, Naruto and One Piece, both of the creators were big fans of Toriyama and DBZ. So I have DBZ and Toriyama to thank.
I did like the voices in the first seasons (especially Vegeta's), and hated Funi's, but I got used to it.
-
after freeza is where he wanted to stop but his fans wanted him to go on or some bs like that, or so he says, but it was probably all about the money.
I remember i liked the old bulma voice before they made her into some surfer chick and i remember her voice just changing all of a sudden from one episode to the next without any explaination
-
Actually, he wanted to stop after Cell. Well, he wanted to stop after Freezer, but he was persuaded by people he knew to do one more. So, he made Cell as what he thought would be a fitting final villain. The Buu saga was the one his fans and the people paying his checks were responsible for.
-
The mistake wasn't that it wasn't going to be uncut, the mistake was that it wasn't on the programming block they mentioned.
Whoops. Sorry there.
I'm getting the Dragon Boxes eventually….
-
actually, they are showing dbgt so many people are wrong here
-
I think this really sucks. When I saw the commercial I wanted to kill my self. I also bought the box sets 1 and 2.

DBZ Uncut starts Tuesday, not Monday.
-
wow, im an idiot. I thought it was tuesday. Its just that im on vacation and the days blend together somethimes
-
Funis voices are okay…
but definatly not as good as the original. I got all DBZ subbed. -
I'm actually looking forward to the first run of it uncut that goes through the Saiyan Saga and the Freezer Saga. I have the Buu and Cell saga's uncut fan dubbed bootlegs but I never got to see the Saiyan Saga and the Freezer Saga uncut. I'll probobly quit watching it after theyget done with the Freezer saga because then i'll have seen it all.
-
Oh boy, they made an even lamer intro with HARD ROCK OUT SOLO BY CRIS SABBAT!!!!1 I was looking forward to ROCK THE DRAGON, too, such nostalgic cheesiness.
Laaaaaaaame.

**Yeah, I wish they still had Rock the Dragon. Now I'm missing that song.. I need to dig up an MP3 to make myself feel better.
And that intro seemed.. really long. It just kept going. The intro's animation seemed like it should have been a bumper, instead.
-
Wow, that was a huge rush of nostalgia.
I'll probably just watch the Vegeta arc, I might watch Frieza also, but I'm not sure
-
Isn't the guy who was Raditz VA in the new version the same VA for Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho too? It sounded like him.

I can tell you didn't watch the Saiyan Saga before. It was SO badly edited…holy shit. Even worse than anything 4Kids can do.
They're redubbing it...so we as the public can ENJOY it. I loved yesterday's episode, I can't wait to watch more. Watching that first episode you can see that the last time it was dubbed about 20 minutes were cut and they blended ep 1 and 2 together.
-
When I first watched it as a kid, I didn't notice anything too OMG HORRIBLE that they editted. And I enjoyed it then.
It feels weird watching these old eps with these lameo voices..

**Incorrect, I saw the old dub. I'm probably not going to watch the new dub, seeing as I'm kinda not into DBZ anymore…
-
Well CN was right about it being uncut since we saw Goku's "Tool" tonite.

plus master roshi was drinking ….......omg Alcohol

After Goku's "private" was on Cartoon Network, I wonder how many soccer moms were watching with their 7-year olds and are now standing in front of the Cartoon Network building protesting, holding signs, etc…
I'm very glad for the uncut DBZ on CN, because it slams highly edited anime. :)
Too bad I've already seen it. :( -

**Yes, because parents are allways watching TV with their young children at 10:30 at night.
-
Well I guess it's safe to say that since they showed little Goku's package, they won't edit out anymore stuff. Let's see if it gets to stay on air, or if it gets the boot for too many angry soccer moms.
-
THE SOCCER MOMS ARE AT MY HOUSE!!!!!
THEY HAVE SIGNS AND THEY'RE THREATENING TO KILL AMERICA!!!!!
-
I'll bet they get less mad at the "Goku's Tackle" parts and more angry at th part in one of the filler episodes where Tenhsinhan, Kurrirun, Yamcha, and Chaozu go into the room of spirit and time and fight with those illusions of Saiyans and they all die in a very graphic manner.
-
Well the next test for CN is that the fights will be uncut, if they could do that then maybe other shows(Like Yu Yu Hakusho and Detective Conan/Case Closed) that dosent have an place will have an new home.
-
Roshi got say, he missed Bulma's breasts. Haha.
-
I wonder if they'll leave Raditz and Goku getting run through by Piccolo's Makanousappou.
