Plot Summary: Based on the popular 1980s Japanese animated TV series, comic books and toy line. Here's one instance where I'm hoping they stray as far away from the source material as possible. All they need is the five lion robots that turn into one giant robot that cuts shit in half with its JUUOUKEN.

I'll admit that the designs and the like weren't at all bad, but Golion was fucking awful in the writing and Voltron only made that worse.
But yeah. Given the continued popularity of the franchise, I'm assuming that people aren't horribly familiar with the specifics. Just that they liked it when they were five or whatever.
So keep the basics and make their own story, and things might be good. Maybe.

I loved this show as a kid and am still looking around for the uncut series.
Back in the mid-'90s, there was a series of commercials featuring Voltron and some rappers. They'd run around in the ghetto and then a monster attacked, follow formula.
…now that I think about it, I think it was Sprite instead.
At any rate, the commercials were pretty rare on any channel that wasn't BET.

…I had the same fond early childhood memories. I loved Voltron to death when I was four, and was fucking elated to see that it was going to air on Toonami when the block first began along with Thundercats, another show that I vaguely remembered.
And then I actually watched it and saw that I was blinded by nostangia, as the show is downright terrible. Shattered my dreams, that it did… :<
But in any event, it's pretty dumb to put someone on ignore because they don't like something that you do, but whatever. No big deal to me. :/

I haven't seen the original versions of Gatchaman & Samurai Troopers.
I'd imagine obtaining RAWs for either to be as tough or even harder than getting them for Monster Farm - nobody's hear of Voltron in Japan, not even the NEETs and otaku. Might be the same for Gatchaman and ST.
Demonoid have Gatchaman (Original anime from 70s) subbed.

Yeah. All the above refer to Japan.
Wait what does Super Robot Taisen have to do with GoLion's popularity?
Essentially, popular series get featured more frequently, and lesser-known stuff gets put in to round out the roster.
For example, Gundam Wing is stupidly popular and so shows up more often than any other non-UC series. And then there's SEED, which actually got forced in early by company mandate in order to cash in on its success.
Then there's series like Turn A and X, which aren't very popular but still show up when the game setting permits it since the producers love them to death.
However, Golion only managed to make it into a game as of last year, and the suparobo series is almost twenty years old now. If it was actually popular, then its fans would have clamored for its inclusion a very long time ago.
Basically, there aren't any real fans of it to speak of in Japan and it's not like the producers care much either. The main reason for its inclusion was for story purposes, as they tied it in rather deeply to Gaogaigar. (both are lion robots.)
