How many of you have read Jojo?
I finished part 3 last week, and it was a hell of an ending.

I finished part 3 last week, and it was a hell of an ending.
I've read all the way up to the first 4 books of part 4. And I can honestly say… It's the best action manga I've ever read!! (well one of them) (Jotaro ownz all)
JoJo is like crack and coffee. I love it. It's the only other Manga I collect.
JoJo Series 3 and Series 5 are considered to be the best. I love the Series 3 gang and Series 5 is just crazy with Dio's son as the main character.
I saw this really bad "Hong Kong" fansub of the second JoJo OVA series. The translation was so bad it was just AWESOME. You gotta love the fact that they translated its Episode 2 title as "The Fate of the Pope" when it had absolutely nothing to do with religion. Haha.
I only read up to part 1 T-T, sounds pretty good so far. Though collecting this serie might take a WHILE XD (80 books or whatnot..)
I read up to the second book of part 4. The best part for me would have to be part 3, it has the best characters by a long shot.
I'm a Jojo's fan (I like the anime, manga, and video games). My favorite character is Kakyoin…he's one of my top characters of all time (from any manga/anime series).
I'm mostly only familiar with series 3 though (since the 2D Capcom fighting games and anime were based on it). I haven't read all of the other Jojo series.
I LOVE part 3. The Jojo gang, Vanilla Ice, the D'Arby bros…....everyone is just damn cool.
The first two aren't as good imo, and the latter two heroes look like punks. Though I really hope someone scans part 4. Josuke looks cool.

Haha, I can't get over Josuke's hair. But the villian in 4 ROCKS. A rich good-looking psychopath in a suit (like Christian Bale in American Psycho ) that keeps a woman's hand in a jar and collects his fingernails.
5 is great though. The other members of GioGio's gang are pretty cool and one of the stands is called Aerosmith that is ding ding a fighter plane.
Sorry if you guys counted this as dead, but I thought it'd be better to bring this back instead creating a new one.
So it turns out that Part IV was actually online at higher voltage.
heh heh
I have almost all of the part III manga but I cant read any of it :'( lol
Part I & II were awesome, how Dio came to be and how Joseph became the great adventurer that was… it's frickin sweet!
Kinda wish I could read Part IV and VI cause Jotaro appears in both
I wanna read part V just cause Polnareff is beating some serious ass while in a wheel chair
Oh and in Golden wind,
spoilers
Polnareff shows up in one level... You play as him in a wheelchair and they play his music from the fighting game :D
Anyone play the jojo's rpg on the SNES also?
P….Polnareff?! Argh, the spoilers! :P
Higher voltage has part in .rar form (scan quality sucks ass though).
I checked out that RPG, but it didn't make sense to me, and I stopped playing after a few minutes.
Awww crap I forgot about that >_<
i have read to the end of jojo part three and must say that it tops part two slightly on the jojo totem pole imo. I just love how star platinum breaks the world and how he stops time
SPOILERS
I just love how Jojo defeats Cars. He tells Cars he planned it just to piss him off.
I'm still to see the OVA of part 3. THEN I'll go to part 4.
I also have yet to see the OVA. Damn STA and their overpriced dvds…
The OVA for the second half of part 3 is awesome
the whole battle with darby looks so awesome animated
The whole thing where he starts getting nervous, when he convulses and pases out is so awesome :D
i have the whole series (at least what's out in japan)
here's my rating for the series excluding part 7 cause it isn't done yet
part 3: must read. one of the best series in manga ever.
part 2: gotta love the main character.
part 4: some people don't like it as much cause it's all based in one city
part 5: all right… i wanted to see more "purple haze"
part 1: classic
part 6: sucked big time...
part 7 is starting off really good. it'll probably be one of the top three.

Part 7 is Steel Ball Run, which is a spinoff. It's not actually Jojo.
I thought SBR was only one volume.
I've read the first 5 volumes of IV so far. Good, but I can tell it's not going to top III.
steel ball run has 4 volumes so far. they're doing 2 book releases with SBR so 5,6 should be coming out soon. Hirohiko officially says that SBR isn't jojo part 7 because he want's new readers to be able to enjoy the manga without knowing the whole series. Semi officially it's a prequel, set in the 1800's with all the ancestors of familiar characters making a apperance. it's kind of interesting because although you know who the main characters are, you don't really know which ones are bad/good. everybody's just kind of in it for themselves.

Gotta check that out then.
Anyone else find it just a bit weird that Araki's style suddenly changed? Parts II and II looked the same, and then a bit into Part IV the art was much different.
Yeah, the characters all start "striking poses" and look like heroine addicted members of various 1980s boy and love rock bands. I love it!
I was thinking of checking out Steel Ball Run. I didn't know it was a sort of prequel. I gotta read it now!
It's not really a prequel to Jojo but Araki uses the "Star System" concept (invented by Osamu Tezuka) in which key charchters, their relatives, settings or different versions of them appear the same or sometimes different in manga with enitrely different worlds/storylines. Its not a Jojo prequel and no charchters from Jojo appear in it (That I know of.) but its set around the same time preiod as series one of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure.
Well, a prequel doensn't need to include a character from the series. Not until the end, at least.
I'm confused about that Brando guy.
Well theres a star system thing. I said it could involve charchters relatives and Dio Brando was the main villian of The Jonathan Joestar and Jotaro Kujo arcs and in SBR theres a charchter with the last name Brando. Hmmm…...plotholes....plotholes.
Probably not a plothole. Maybe Dario had family in the States or something.
araki has always been influenced by prince and the art styles of FotNS
so his style has always had a very Fist style to it but the 80's boy band thing is due to the prince influence
translated by me from the inside cover of SBR volume1
"this story is actually written as jojo part 7, but for new reader's sake, i did not want to make it clear. on one hand, it's not good for manga artists to throw out their ideas from their past series and totally start new. the theme must continue from past works. (continued in volume 2)"
btw, the story takes place in 1890. dario brando (dio's dad) dies in 1880 (when part 1 starts).

Does it explain what any of its characters have to do with the Jojo characters?

Yeah, that's why the earlier volumes looked ass ugly were kinda crude, but Araki made the muscles look reasonable in Part II. Then he just….changed the faces in Part IV. I never got that, and was always suprised how little (if at all) it's mentioned.
no, he doesn't put a clear connection between the characters and their more modern counterparts. just names. his drawing style is as weird as ever but the story's a lot better than part 6. the story is based on a fictious race across the US (kind of like a old school gumball rally).
ooshi78
Was VI really that bad?
well… maybe not that bad.
i was buying the manga books as they were released and after the series completed, i think i read them through as a whole once... you just don't really care for the characters. if they die, you're kind of like "so what?"
things i'm disappointed in the jojo series...
part 4: you never figure out who the young youth is that saves jojo in his childhood. maybe i was hoping for some time machine action where he goes back and saves himself...
part 5: fugo's unwillingness to go along with the party... his stand "purple haze" was one of the coolest. we only got to see it in action once.

For gripes, I'd say:
Part I - How it's basically a FotNS rip at first
Part V - Just doesn't seem to live up to III
Part V - Everyone looks like a sucker
Part VI -Middle aged Jotaro?
I read the begining few chapters of the First JoJo series and it was great but I lost the link and now I can't find it… but it was good stuff.
I love the art.
yea, Buccaneer pm'ed me the links.
the characters may have looked kinda crude earlier on but if you look at the fist manga, you can see how much jotaro and hell even how josuke and gio gio lkinda vaguely resemble a version of kenshiro and hell if im not mistaken jotaro, josuke, giorno and buccarelli all have a move where they punch really really fast almost identical to what kenshiro does ( cant remember the move name ) when he beats almost 80% of his opponents…
as to series V being lame, come on... gio gio's ability to give life to non animated objects is just insane and those who strike said non animatedobjects are hurt. his ability to "slow time" is just incredible. he feeds an excess amount of "life energy" into things and because of this they feel the world kinda slow down around them, but it's all pretty much an illusion and when gio hits them, it hurts like 10 times worse then when it normally should.
every jojo fan should have this page bookmarked http://www.geocities.com/noriaki_kakyouin/ - it covers every character all the way up to series 5 and some from series 6
chapter 11 now of the Part 1 for me…. Dio needs some seirous mental help. He's crazy smart but damn... psycho...

The series itself isn't lame, Gio just….looks like a sucker.
I've had that site bookmarked for like, 3 years. :P
HAHAHA! I just relized something…. You spelt Bizarre wrong on the Title to this thread..not that big but i think it's funny..
lol i never said you didnt have it bookmarked XD
Im saying other fans should have it bookmarked if they dont already
that site is awesome except for the lack of series 6 info >_>
the guyw ho made that site is one of the translator for ignition-one also
I've read the part I and halfway through the part II but it was while ago and can't really remember what I thought about it. It has some qualities I like but… I've been drifting away from shounen comics. Perhaps I should start reading it again. For some weird reason I did enjoy Steel Ball Run a lot though.
after reading this thread, i pulled out SBR and re read what i have… it's good. for all you pauly fans out there, mountain tim's got some crazy rope action too. unfortunatly araki is re-using some of his old stand ideas... rope= hierophant green, stone free. there was a magnet one too, kind of like... man i don't remember the names. the one girl in part 3 that made people magnetic... hopefully the stands will get more original though. the Jojo character's got a stand we haven't seen yet, but it's got something to do with rotation... weird.
ooshi78
your thinking of Mariah and her stand was Bast
Bast would appear as an electrical socket and if the person touches said electrical socket they become more magnetic.
she can also shoots nuts and bolts out of her boobies which was beyond weird cause when she did it, her boob were like madonna boobs theyd get all long and pointy and then nuts and bolts would appear and fly towards the magnetic person
she also looked like little red riding hood LMAO

wow! you have a good memory… all the jojo names and places get all mixed up in my head. your comment about her shooting nuts and bolts out of her boobs made me laugh. i think the nuts and bolts were in a pocket in front of her boobs, not shooting out of them.
there's also a bomb stand in SBR. the guy can create pins (like hand grenades) and if the pin is removed (or falls off), whatever he put the pin on explodes. it's like killer queen except the stand user can't control when the pin falls out.
ooshi78
heh heh she has no pockets on her shirt, go to http://www.geocities.com/noriaki_kakyouin/ and get a load of the picture of her
Maybe in her bra or something. Shooting metal scraps out of your breasts sounds like something to avoid doing at all costs. :P
Question: when did Part III take place exactly? I thought it was in '88, but in Part IV they say it was sometime in '89.
she's definatly got some pockets…
jojo part 3 was written as being the time it was written. the series was started in 1989 sometime so i think that's when it takes place.

Part 2 ends in 1939, look at Jojo's grave.
In part 3 he says he lost his hand a in a battle 50 years ago.
Confusing. The three Perfect Beings (or whatever the hell) were activated in '38.
