If Oda is still producing manga in another 20 years, I wont be complaining. Tho there's a chance I may not be keeping up with such by that time. Fuck, I'll be 37 myself.
So about Adult Swim
-
-
I guess I'm the only person who thought the manga ending of Ranma was fine…
-
Inuyasha started tonight, so this was a last minute change as AS's website schedule had things planned till June 7th. It also seems like it might be here to stay for a bit, considering during each commercial breaks there's brand new Inuyasha bumper images.
-
Well Buuhan, I said I'd keep you posted.
-
It's a bittersweet chapter, to be sure… :(
Bye-bye, kickass villain! At least he got in one final "fuck you"...!
-
Well, I finally have some good news.
Super-Deluxe.com is shutting down.
-
You mean that website that Adult Swim always promos?
Hmm, wonder what happened. -
@Tommy:
You mean that website that Adult Swim always promos?
Hmm, wonder what happened. From what I understand, no one liked it and it hardly got any hits.
Good riddance. Some of that stuff was just warped.
-
Why the heck are you talking about Inuyasha manga…oh well...I just read the latest chapter, it was really awesome since they cont it in a really unexpected way (you know, most of the time, after the main enemy die, they mostly do one of those cheesy happy endings, this at least didn't)
You know what AS should definately do? Make a new channel where they can put anime in it only...because the current channel has really become a joke

Good good.

They don't really have that much anime to show.
-
@Jedi:
Why the heck are you talking about Inuyasha manga
I don't know. Somehow we started talking about the Inuyasha anime, and then the manga which is finishing the story up (of course the anime was never finished) and then I said I would tell Buuhan when Naraku died since he wouldn't be interested until he did die.
Well anyway, it really doesn't have to do with adult swim so we can stop talking about it now.
As far as Super-Deluxe, I never went to the website, but I always found the commercials to rather weird and annoying, and they looked stupid as hell. So I guess I'm glad they're shutting down.
-
Gosh Darnit! they've done it again
Today I just got done watching the only thing left on toonami (besides some of the episodes of samurai jack) thats worth watching, which is naruto.
Then I decided to see the adult swim line up. At 11:00 i saw bleach, i was very happy when i saw this, then full metal alchemist at 11:30!
but then…that was it. no moribito,no geass, no inuyasha, no shin shan. NOTHING!!!!
damn they went and made anime nights more shitty.
Will this ever get any better? or are we doomed to filler naruto for the rest of our lives?
-
what was super-deluxe.com?
-
Super-deluxe.com was a video comedy site.
Code Geass and Moribito are still on, but at the last hour of AS (5-6am Eastern). Shin-chan and Inuyasha (finally) are gone. I suspect they're fucking with the anime fans right now, the schedule may go back to normal soon.
-
shin chan wasnt that bad.
INUYASHA SUCKED!!!!111
-
Nice rspects–----
anyway,WHAT is so good on Shin Chan? Its just a wierdely warped show about a prematurely perverted pr-schooler and his overly impulsive mother, with the constant mix of "everything fucks itself up" every odd episode at least.
-
You hit the nail on the head XD
-
Shin-chan is sort of a break to the action that Adult Swim took with the rest of its anime.
But… Now that Shin-chan's latest "season" is over they'll retire it for a while.
I was never a big Geass fan when it aired, I mean what's so neat about it? Giant robots, some explosions, flowery character designs, and the usual "main hero goes to the dark side" vibe.
Moribito, I thought by the schedule they showed they took it off. Meh, I'm not staying up late to see it. They'll repeat it...
-
or you could buy the dvd's and support the release.
geass- not worth buying unless your into that sort of stuff.
moribito- not worth it sorry
shin chan- maybe if like theres a tornado and the last anime left on earth is shin chan…go ahead -
…people still watch anime on Adult Swim?
I mean, I don't even watch anime anymore, but I didn't know people even cared about it being on TV.
The ONLY shows I watch on AS are: Family Guy, Robot Chicken, & (sometimes) The Boondocks.
-
a man can dream that toonami will return will more anime like in the old days..
a man can dream….

It's actually pretty common. Especially when you're new to the anime.
At least, that's been the reason I've watched them on AS. They seem to do very little editing of content. Although, with stuff like Geass, they sorta have to, I guess.

They don't really.

I think he means online.
Most of the people who I know that still watch [adult swim] do so to purport some kind of moral high ground over fansub watchers, usually resulting in ostracism. It's understandable RuNa wouldn't know they're still around because it's no fun to talk about something if one is the only person to talk to.
-
I liked Inuyasha the first few episodes, but GOD it got redundant.
I might be the only one who thinks this, but they need to put Hellsing Ultimate on AS. I know its on HBO, but it wouldn't be bad to have on both.
-

Wait Wait Wait Whaaaat?
-
I'm not sure if people read my earlier post wrong… I was actually saying that it seems sorta common to watch it on tv if one hasn't seen the subbed version yet, or just hasn't heard of the series before.
Even if I have seen a series before, I'll sometimes watch the dub on AS or whatever just for the heck of it. The only anime series I'm watching on AS now are Geass, and Bleach on occasion.
They don't really.
If you're refering to the editing, yeah, actually that does seem sorta unnecessary considering the time it's on.
-
@Sandai:
Wait Wait Wait Whaaaat?
My words exactly.

shin chan- maybe if like theres a tornado and the last anime left on earth is shin chan…go aheadscratches head I don't normally buy DVDs in the first place unless it's a series that I'm really interested in…
I stated my reason for not liking Geass... It's background noise to me as is 95% of AS' programming.
@Mr.:

I agree holeheartedly.
For those that have never seen an anime before, AS is a great place to try anime out. (Though Sci-fi channel is also good, on mondays.) Most people who get their first taste of anime start out on a TV dub anyway. I mean it's not like someone out of the blue decided to watch anime with no real basis to start upon. chuckles
While they shouldn't, they still do it, even with their original programming. It seems there is still things you can't show on TV even after the little kiddies are in bed. Even in the wee hours of the morning.
-
Actually they could show but for some reason they won't.
-
I've watched anime on [as] because it's introduced me to alot of good shows. I'dve never watched Geass, Bleach, Death Note, etc. had they not aired on [as].
Now, though? Fuck 'em. This is inexplicably asinine, so I'll take my ratings elsewhere. Sci-Fi's got an anime block, though. Might as well check that out, now.
I was never a big Geass fan when it aired, I mean what's so neat about it? Giant robots, some explosions, flowery character designs, and the usual "main hero goes to the dark side" vibe…
Actually, it's more of a political and military drama than a mecha show. That's the appeal. Big storyline, and all.
-
-
One heck of a block. :/
-
.>
Maybe not so much with the Hellsing Ultimate on AS?
-
I dunno what the drokk Hellsing is,so I cant say.
But I do have one question-do they realy censor stuff on a chanel called Adult Swim and at those hours too ?
-

What was edited in geass?
-
To my knowledge they've blurred certain body parts slighty, because unlike most anime these days, Geass is not afraid to show what is on the end of a breast.
-

Gurren Lagann and "Now and Then, Here and There".
If you hadn't jumped on Gurren during the big jump a few years back, nows the time to see it in a dubbed format.
Now and Then, Here and There is more of a military drama than Geass if you look at it, it has some strong tones.
Well, I have my reasons for not liking Geass.
@Sandai:
Actually they could show but for some reason they won't.
I would like to know the reason too…

I mean, I don't even watch anime anymore, but I didn't know people even cared about it being on TV.

Of course we care. People like me don't care to download shows and watch them on their computer anymore, it's uncomfortable in several ways, not just having to do with how you watch it.
I watch anime on adult swim cause usually they only have good anime on it (one of the main exceptions being Neon Gensis Evangelion which I'm not bothering to spell right if I didn't), and I know all I gotta do is slap my ass down on the couch, turn on my widescreen HDTV at the time they chose to see it. Even after this schedule change I'm waking up at 4am to watch Code Geass and Moribito cause I ENJOY THEM.
But I do have one question-do they realy censor stuff on a chanel called Adult Swim and at those hours too ?
Indeed they do. Blood and gore use to be baaad (Cowboy Bebop was censored for it, and still is on their broadcast of it even today) on Adult Swim, but in recent years it's become allowed. A lot of their in house shows use tons of blood and gore for comedy and a lot of bloody violent series like Blood+ get aired uncut but with a second parental advisory thrown in front of it.
However, two things Adult Swim has yet to budge on is: Nudity and strong language. They are for REALLY tight on nudity. In one of the early episodes of Code Geass it had a character in the shower, it showed her from behind, and her ass was blurred. Haha, yes, her ass. Her cleavage was also blurred when she covered herself despite nothing was shown.
They may be called "Adult Swim", but they're more "Teen Swim". Which is funny, considering in some of their recent bumps they've completely disregarded peoples emails cause they mentioned they were "under 18".
@Adult:All kids out of the pool. Adult Swim is for 18 and over.
Which is especially ironic due to till about a year ago, their parental advisory said "fourteen".
-

True, but I also think a good part of their viewing audience includes the college demographic, most, if not all, of whom are above 18.
-
@Sandai:
Yea with only two animes.
Both of them are really good…but the 2nd one is almost finished (but there is gonna be another one next month). Next week theres gonna be some OVA/movie called Negadon (I have no idea what that is, but I'll record anyway), and NOvember 3rd and November 24th something called descandants of darkness, and Gundam 00 will come out (between then and now theres some couple new anime movies

http://boards.adultswim.com/adultswim/board/message?board.id=schedule&thread.id=4487&jump=true
New schedule with a source a few posts down.
Also, in case anyone saw that hot babe in bikini and trench coat commercial the other night with a different Saturday night schedule (with Code Geass on early and no Moribito)… It was just AS fucking with us again.
-
AS fucks around too much and them gonna lose viewers.
I say bandai take action and decide to move there shows to sc-fi.
-
What anmes on AS does bandai have?
-
@Sandai:
What anmes on AS does bandai have?
Just Geass, at the moment.
-
So there's nothing for them take.
-
Of course we care. People like me don't care to download shows and watch them on their computer anymore, it's uncomfortable in several ways, not just having to do with how you watch it.
It's called getting a DVD + Player if you really don't want to watch it on your computer

However, two things Adult Swim has yet to budge on is: Nudity and strong language.Yeah, Cowboy Bebop had 2 gay guys having sex censored to a guy doing sweaty pushups. As for your other two things, not true. Only for anime.

How funny, because I remember watching adults swim when ALL ADVISORYS were read out loud and said 18 with no minors allowed to be watching. This was, of course, when it was only 1 day a week (in 2001).
Nowadays, they've been "accepted" as being allowed so they ditched their older ways. -

Uh wasn't Adult Swim on twice a week before they dropped the Saturday lineup originally?
-
^
From wiki:Originally a Sunday-only block with reruns on Thursdays, Adult Swim now airs every day of the week from 11pm-6am Eastern
I only watched it for Cowboy Bebop. Occasionally, I'd watch something like Space Ghost, but most of the shows were terrible (can't say the situation has improved).
