According to Toon Zone, AZN Network, formerly the International Channel, will be closing its doors April 9. The channel first gained attention in 1998 when it showed uncut, subtitled Dragon Ball Z long before it was ever released uncut.
Me, I don't really care anymore. I loved watching Patlabor when it was on weeknights, but the channel passed it's prime long ago.
NOOOOOOOO! they are the only channel that shows Saiyuki Gunload relock, Ueki, and count of Monte crisco and other animes
plus i watch Shinobi:heart under blade and Blood Fists too.
First I had to delete HBO off my listing and could not see Desert Punk anymore..now this T.T
theres barely any anime now after this deletion

Personally, I only glance at the AZN Network channel once in a blue moon.
Now I'm hoping FUNimation Channel takes its place. That'd be so freakin' sweet!

We actually have one of those in Britain.
It only ever shows Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone COmplex, Bleach, Planetes, Transformers Headmaster and This Ugly Yet Beautiful World.
The last one I watched was Locomotion, some crappy channel that screwed up badly with subtitles.
I think the only good thing they had was Saber Marionette and Soul Hunter.
Heh…I remember this series way back even before the DBZ run when they had "Kuma no Pu-taro" as their anime and a bunch of weird dramas and music shows. People probably can get this elsewhere now but its still sad to see it go.

They will just add it to anyone with digital service where I live, but I doubt I'll be watching it a lot.
Most of the time I find myself either watching movies or the programs at Travell&Adventure.
I'll never understand why Sony feels the need to release Animax everywhere but the US. I mean, they get the channel in Africa and Poland, for crying out loud. But anyway, the primary reason AZN failed was that so few people actually got it. It was only available to select areas serviced by either Comcast, Time Warner, or Cox. If Comcast really cared, they would have ponied up the dough to get Directv and Dish onboard. I hope Time Warner is paying attention, because a similar fate will befall ImaginAsian if they don't wake up and get with it.
Anime-only channels are a good thing to have. They appeal to a small but loyal following, and with the right advertisers can make some good money. But companies need to actually care about them.

I don't watch the channel much. Whenever I did watch it it was a few years back when it was showing the Tenchi Muyo dub and DBGT in Japanese. There's nothing good on it now, there's a show which kinda caught my interest called Golden Treasury which is on in the mornings but I've really only caught one episode so it's not a big deal.
It'd be nice if a anime channel or something replaced it, but that ain't happening. Kinda a pity tho, it seems to be a channel for Asian Americans to watch and see what's going on and such with news and the like. I still remember when it went from The International Channel to AZN Television. Gave me a short "huh?".

Anyway, AZN is now showing spots between shows apologizing for shutting down and wishing everyone well. End of an era, I say. Anyway, I wonder how they'll do their final sign-off.

Nothing is replacing it. It's simply going off the air. It'll just cease to exist.
Yeah, it's channels. It's not a matter of being "replaced" but rather if one day a channel happens to take over the number that AZN was on your service.

It's a shame to hear they'll be closing down, but it doesn't really affect me. Mainly because the damn network was generally on a side of the US I was never on. 
I remember I used to envy my ol' internet pal who used to brag to me about how he got to see DBZ untouched.

I remember that too I watched parts of the Frieza ,almost all the Buu saga ,and some of GT in their original form.
When I found it back when it was the International Channel, they were airing DBGT and Tenchi. I also saw the old live action Dragonball movie on it.
And there it goes. No special sign off or anything, Biz China finished, it showed the same message it's been showing during commercials, and then immediately went to a screen stating the channel has ceased broadcasting and is no longer available.

i hope so. I have it on Charter and I love this channel only for the animes and for the MMA show.
they actually air Elemental gelade both in japanese and English. the rest are either englishor JP/Korean w/English subs

Man, what a lame way to go off the air. I didn't get to see it because Time Warner Cable in my area replaced it with PBS Kids Sprout before it even shut down. As for ImaginAsian TV, I get that channel also, and it's pretty good. Hikaru no Go aired on there for a while a few years ago. However, it's even more obscure than AZN was. To my knowledge, it's only available on Time Warner Cable in Southern California, New York, Dallas, and Houston.
