I've been wondering about this for some time now. Is Wikipedia simply a site where one can just load up any piece of information even if it happens to be false??

yeah, but chances are that someone will correct it if it's wrong. it's a massive online database that can be updated by anyone.

Wikipedia is a site that is like an online encyclopedia created by a non-profit group. Anyone can add information, but then anyone can remove it or debate the facts in the discussion tab in each article. The goal is to have articles as neutral as possible without losing any facts, espically controversial topics like the anti-Japanese resentment in China.
-
And there's a lot of moderators who keep track of everything. I know guys who uploaded huge articles of crap that were deleted in just a few minutes.
-
And they keep track of copyright violation, too. Japanese Wikipedia had whole Death Note How to Use written on it, and they removed it. Or they're going to.

"Wikipedia said it was true don't argue"
Heh. One of my favorite 4chan memes.

It's basically an open source encyclopedia if that's what you wanna call it. I like to go there to look for information.

Wikipedia is God's gift to college students.
Or at least to history majors who would like some general survey information.
-
One of the best online sources for info.
I like going there to look up on some facts I need. -
And look at this: (someone actually edits it XD)
-
Wow…someone managed to edit it all the way to Eneas Lobby!
GENIUS! -
Hmmm, well if its monitored it's better than I thought but I still don't think I'll be sourcing it for serious material.
It does have some great info on stupid stuff though. I finally found out the full story of Tokyo Breakfast which was sweet.
-
There are some information on serious stuff. Well, at least for current affairs.
-
I find it wonderful. When searching information, I choose Wikipedia over Google almost anytime.
Edit:

Information on serious stuff doesn't mean that serious stuff is accurate. Try putting wikipedia as a source in a science paper for college. (In a course level that doesn't start with 0 or is followed by another 0).
