Hoffy's Cosplay Alleyway Gaiden X: The Grandmaster Challenge

Yeah. I got bored and decided it was mandatory to start my own cosplay thread, simply because I can get more in-depth critques, ideas, and etc. on what to do with my cosplay. XD

To mark off the start, I'm gonna finally debut a cosplay that I nearly lost all hope in regards to completing it before Oni-Con 2007. Hell, it surprised me that I had it done by today, with the help of my amazing mother of course. It's a work in progress btw. Keep in mind, I do intend on adding in the six, quarter-sectioned off circles on the sleeves as soon as I get an open chance to. That, and I need to make the canteen he has, along with the cover that goes around his straw hat and his neck.

Tonight is the night. It's the gauntlet of Luffy cosplay, the last push.

Yeah, I'm gonna finish the rest of the Arabasta Luffy robe, and make another vest, since my Gianni Versace Luffy vest has gotten a bit tight and is just too short for Luffy cosplay. XD

More on that later tonight guys. >:3

After two long days of cosplay progress, I am proud to present to the AP Forums, my rendition of Luffy (Arabasta version). I had to call off work today, since I wanted it to be done before I arrive at the hotel on Thursday that Oni-Con is on. <3

I can't find any barrels of monkeys to repaint. Does anybody know where I can obtain one?

It's a minor detail, but it'd be neat if I had that barrel Luffy used as a canteen with me. XD

and the painted circles don't look that bad. maybe sometime you can paint over it again, and it will look better with a second coat.

Hmm, looks like I'll have to raid a toy store soon. That, but I dunno if I have the actual time to go out to one to go get it, because of time constraint. It's not too vital of an accessory methinks.

I'm gonna have my hair styled as close as possible to his. I'm having a friend who's well-known for cosplay Konata to help me do so.

@ CU: Hot Topic is a clothing store that tenders to several audiences, mainly that of the gothic and scene kids of today's high schoolers, at least from my opinion. I only go there for cosplay needs and some of the nice Nintendo apparel they carry every once in awhile.

From my standpoint, it was you're typical con feel for an anime convention that isn't over-the-top or just REALLY big (like AX or A-Kon), but with a few benefits I sought to seek and ultimately got. Compared to itself last year, it's no doubt indefinitely better than its last con.

(Pseudo-con report below of the music guests present at AM 2008.)

! I had a blast, as I got to see and hear Bespa Kumamero, Aural Vampire, and Nirgilis. It's a coincidence as I'm a fan of all three. A lot of attendees were bitching that the "rave" (which is a term I think is misused for the stuff held at cons) had music that was hard to dance to (in reference to what Bespa and Aural were playing). If you can find a copy of Bespa's "Romantic Waves," I suggest a listen or two, as they have a unique style of doing what they know best: music that never gets stale. Some of the stuff Monkichi comes up with to create his beats are just crazy as hell.
! The main music guest, Nirgilis, was simply amazing. The tracklist they sang consisted of 3/4ths remixes, and about a 1/4th original. "Brand New Day," "Sakura," and "Snow Kiss" (with a snow machine blowing snow around throughout the song) were all amazing to listen to live.
! Acchu-chan is just as good live as she is on the CD. Yuki, the female drummer, went crazy when she saw me dressed as Keroro post-concert during the autograph, as she is a big fan herself. "Boy," their first album, has "Keroro-kun <3" written on there in Japanese, along with their autographs. A shirt was also signed soon after.

I found them at Hot Topic, luckily.

Though they're not too scale as how he has them, they work overall. <3
