You have lots of anger inside of you, Master91.
@Carter:Sonic looks kinda lame, and I'm kind of annoyed because it looks like he has insanely good recovery
It's seems like one of those more vertical type of recoveries. Sonic's probably screwed if he gets too far from the edge. But recoveries has had an all around boost so I find it a bit hard to say for sure. Although I do think that it does need to be one of the better ones cause others can take an advantage of it. You know, use the spring it lefts behind.
-
Well I honestly can't think of a lot of times when you'd need to use the spring on land
And can't his dash make some decent horizontal recovery? That was the impression I got
-
Well, I'm pretty confident Sonic's great recovery will be kept in check by his extremely thin body.
-
i hate that hedgehog
-
sonic being in this game just messed up the whole thing. this is nintendo, and sonic is with sega. they should never, EVER mix. unless when it comes to the new mario versus sonic game.
-
Looks like Little Mac was confirmed, but as an Assist Trophy…
Well, I guess this must mean that Gabby Jay is the playable character from the Punch-out games….right?
-
Haha, Gabby jab was awesome. He'd own in Smash. "Yay"
-

I agree. What's with that Snake character? This is Nintendo, and Snake is with Konami. they should never, EVER mix.

A year and a half ago:
"OMFG this is nintendo, but snake is Konami, WTF, smash has been ruined!!!"It doesn't matter anymore, smash will be smash, even if Sakurai decides to put Sasuke in it.
It is late… I didn't want sonic in because I hoped for a better third party, but now I understand that It couldn't been anyway else, he deserved it, and Im happy about it. So if you want to complain cheek the cheek this thread or the other closed smash thread about the rants of "anti sonic-nes" on wensday, it is late now, and it's better this way, so check the thread and find a reason other that "he is fucking sega", "his recent games suck", "I hate him" or "he didn't deserved it", been there.

I've figured it out
RokushikiMaster91 is a secret agent from the 1990's
-
Mike Tyson would've been a boss for the ages.
-
Needs moar Sin & Punishment characters
"Guud Mourniiiing Saaaaaaaaakiiiiiii"

no im just a regular teenager formt he 1990s. but it would be cool to be an actual spy.
-
Well someone already beat me to the punch, so I'll keep this part of this post brief:
If you don't like where the game is going in direction. Don't buy it and don't bitch at the people who want to buy it. Let's keep it cool, guys.
Anyway. As for Sonic's inclusion, I rather enjoy it. A theory I have for the delay is so they can add him into the story if only slightly, go back, edit some CGI cutscenes, etc. I'd love to see Robotnik as a boss fight in the game, but that's me. Maybe a Sonic themed level like the Deathegg or the Master Emerald Shrine, that'd be cool in my book. Pushing my luck, yes, but hey that's how I roll.
I'm still waiting patiently for an announcement on the Cap's return though. Granted I'd still buy it. It's freakin' Smash Brothers, guys. There would just be a time to cope for me if Captain Falcon's not in it.
I actually made a promise to myself that after I see Falcon on the site I'm letting everything else be a suprise. Although I think the biggest suprise has already passed.
-
@SeanW:

They would have done that already.
People don't seem to realize that, at this point, the game is basically finished. The biggest reason for the delay was marketing strategies, as well as possibly tweaking one or two things.
-
Didn't someone mention the demo freezing at times? Obviously it's not done. Also, Sakurai said he was trying to add something to the snapshot options…
...Unless you mean these are some of those things that needs tweaking.
-

Nobody has mentioned that. Not that Gohn has heard, anyway.
Also, Sakurai said he was trying to add something to the snapshot options…
Actually, he said that they're "still in development" with it. Which probably just means that they're done with it and are simply seeing if it is working or not.
The thing is that there's only so much they can add in the next 2-3 months. It's not like they're going to be in development until the night before February 10th. Games are completed well before the deadline that they're shipped, so with what little delay they did give, they can't be using it to do any major construction [unless they plan to do delay it yet again]. Basically, this is all just slight tweaking.
But it's mostly just marketing strategy. There's no reason to have Smash Bros. Brawl hog the holiday season when Super Mario Galaxy can take over, since the Brawl fans are going to buy Brawl, no matter when it comes out.
-
@Cyringohn:

I'm sure I read a review that said that. I think it might've been the IGN review. I'll look around for it.
Actually, he said that they're "still in development" with it. Which probably just means that they're done with it and are simply seeing if it is working or not.
He also mentioned they might not be able to put it in, which makes me think they're still working on it.
-
I really don't care since I know the game will be amazing when I get it. And it gives them time to make adjustments, and tweak some of the features. For example, I'm sure the WiFi play really needs more fine-tuning and testing.
Not to mention, a Feb. release makes it much easier on my schedule.
-
Yeah, I found it in the IGN article: http://wii.ign.com/articles/826/826602p2.html
Nintendo calls the game's delay to February of next year a means to "perfect" it. I'm all for that. The demo we got to play today still had bugs and was prone to crashing.
Shows that it still needs to be fixed somewhat.
-
I really hope WiFi turns out to function well. Such a big feature could make or break Smash Bros. I'll probably inevitably be spending most of my game hours online, anyway. At least within the first month of it's release.
And upon further inspection, Sonic doesn't look that bad. At first I thought "Whoa, Sonic and then a delay? Way to kick a guy while he's down, Sakurai." but then I raised a brow to the demo, and now I'm in love with it all over again.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Captain Falcon a Smash Bros idol? Everyone since the first game except for Jiggly, Luigi, Ness and Falcon have been announced, and Luigi is obviously in. I'm willing to bet Ness will be in, too, but I still have room for doubt in Falcon/Jiggly's case.
And I don't give a shit about Jigglypuff.
-
February release only means one good thing to me…I have enough time to gather enough faithful followers for my newly formed Church Of Ganon!! *Laughs Maniacally * Free punch guaranteed. shifty
I do wonder though, anyone ever had the thought of possible downloadable content like new items? (VERY doubtful I know, just an idea I haven't seen come up and might as well be the first one to make the dumb idea.)
If there was anything downloadable, it'd be most likely bug fixing patches. So yeah, new week, I'm predicting a Stage Update, and Item, and character.

-
There's the F-ZERO (ala falcon) emblem on the update for Samurai Goroh's assist trophy, so he's in.
-
Captain Falcon is not being excluded from this game. That'd be the worst possible decision in the entire history of the game's development.
-
Animal Crossing has an icon, too, but an Animal Crossing character would fucking blow. Not that I believe or would even consider arguing against Falcon's inclusion.
I suppose I'm a bit pissed about how much Sakurai's stalling. I mean, Ness fans have Lucas, Pokemon fans still got Pikachu, and Luigi fans basically have insurance, but all Falcon has got so far is an Assist Trophy months ago.
I didn't even realize he wanted so much demand that Sakurai is making his fans wait.
Or at least that's what I'm assuming the deal is.
-
I think it's definitely more than coincedence that Falcon, Luigi, Jigglypuff, and Ness are some of the only veterans not yet announced. I mean, the only other ones I can see coming back that are verterans would be like Ganondorf, Marth, Game and Watch, maybe Mewtwo and Falco. My guess is that they'll all be secret characters again - perhaps even linked to each other in some way. Although that would prevent me from spending some time with FALCON PUNCH, I definitely think that would be another cool way to tie back to the first Melee - especially if they were all unlocked the same ways!
-
@Cyringohn:

On top of all that, we've already seen Samurai Goroh and Dr. Stuart as an assist trophy and a regular trophy respectively in the game. Kind of a far cry to say that Falcon has been cut.
-
Seeing as how all third party characters are unlockable, keeping Captain Falcon hidden because he's a 'secret character' is just silly. Sakurai has already revealed one of the biggest secret characters in the game [Sonic], so the fact that Captain Falcon isn't revealed yet just sort of means that Sakurai hasn't gotten around to it.

I wasn't saying I think that he hasn't updated him because he's secret, I was just saying that perhaps he will mention such a connection betweena ll four of the characters a little later? Sakurai really tended to start off with tamer, less revolutionary updates at first (things we already knew like Wario, or new items like the Gooey Bomb) so I was just mentioning that it's probably no accident all all the characters from the first Smash except the four secret ones have been revealed.
-
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but well… any ideas on what would Kirby look like after copying Meta Knight? All I could think of is Link's hat (Sword Kirby), which just wouldn't work out. Friend of mine said they could probably either have him become blue or wear a mask, but that wouldn't work out either (blue might work if they take that out as an alternate color, but not the mask. especially if playing as a blue Kirby).
So… thoughts? =/

Duster's rope snake!!!!
-
He'd probably have a mask and/or a cute little evil cape
edit: yeah Dude that was posted a few pages back. I'm hoping it's a side B or his grab
-
I'm sensing that tomorow will be a double update, Crawling and Mario Circuit, just to kick us while we are down..
This is my theory about the delay, well I understand that it will be mostly some more testing, balancing isues, checking for bugs, and just polishing everything (I never have the time to truly polish my code, but the little tings at the end are very important).
But there is this part of me teling me that the big reveal of snake in the past weeks have something to do with it… I have the feeling that after snake was put in, and all the fuss in tokyo game show
The others third parties that could said originaly when sakurai called them "no, you won't use my character to undermine it, make fun of it, make him crapy, or just some random guest in that game" sudenly saw that Snake was treated like a guess star in smash, so they reconcidered, and decided "what the hell, lets do it, if they are getting half this guy's attention, I'm in", now sakurai didn't just was in the other side of his old friend, Hieo Kojima's begging, it was many many(4 tops) big companies that this moment we don't know.
In this hipotetical scenario, sakurai decided to call those companies in order to adquire the rights to use fan requested characters, that means that many people asked him to do that in the pools, as oposed of the only one that asked for snake when it was an impossible idea, hideo kojima, now there were fan hopes invested.
If this ranting isn't some fanboy hopes, then sakurai saw an oportunity to do some important things:
- Buy some time to fine tune the game.
- Build relationships between nintendo and third parties, by "sacrificing" something as valuable like the crismas relase date for them.
- Increase the hype to the fans.
- Do more updates in the dojo where he is in control of all that we know.
- Grant the wishes of most fans possible.
- Use the demo to check on some balance issues and audiences reactions.
So, (still a theory) sakurai decided that it could be in the best interest of brawl to take two extra months and the heat of the delay to accept the acceptance of the third parties.
Calculating, If the origin company provides the character models (aparience) in both gameplay and cutscenes, the programing of a whole character could take 3 weeks (not counting IAs)... Very hard to known precisely, considering that I haven't done anything as complex as this, but:
- something as modular as Smash it is most likely that the workload is well distributed.
- With increased complexity of a project, so does the eficasy of the tools used to do it.
Finaly It all boils down to the translated coment on the original dojo: 2 or 3 third parties, that coment could have come from what constraint?:
- Sakurai decided that number to keep the game "nintendo enough".
- Nintendo higer ups said that number to keep the cost of the game viable.
- Sakurai already made the calls needed the day that he posted that, and only got 3 characters more.
- Was just an invented number.
Since day... not one but at least for a year it was know that that number could change.
-
I think aside from a cape/mask, one could also assume he'd get his Sword power called "Master" from The Amazing Mirror.
Although I doubt that amount of Kirby plugging would be in Brawl.
But hey, who knows.
-
Since when has Copy given Kirby anything more than the B move and an article of their clothing
you nitwits
-
But it would be awesome.
Let me dream.
-
I really want to think that Kirby's copying technique will be entirely revamped. Like you steal their B move and a defining characteristic. Absorbing Sonic would get you his B move and increased speed.
I also like to think that Kirby will be able to absorb specific items. Absorb a bomb-omb and become Bomb Kirby!
But that won't happen… I could see my first idea working out though. Sakurai needs to beef up his own damn characters.
-
Uh, Kirby doesn't need to gain attributes to be a better character – he needs for his moves to not suck fucking penis. Copy is fine the way it is.
Besides, what would you get for copying Pokémon Trainer? Link? Pit? Not everybody has some dedicated attribute.
-
Kirby's copy abilities are almost never anything like what they are in his own games. Sword Kirby just looks like Link's hat, but Link Kirby's is a tad different.
ANYWAY, I really, really, REALLY want to see Snake Kirby. It could be the most hilarious and badass thing ever.
-
I rolled my eyes when Sakurai said "Yeah, Kirby's the only character who hasn't changed much".
I don't want Kirby to have weak attacks anymore.
Actually, damage-wise, they were fine, but they had absolutely no knockback. Only his uair and usmash maybe, but come on. Everything else sucked.
-
When Sakurai said that, he meant in appearance, not ability. You can't exactly upgrade a pink blob with feet. I doubt he's going to be exactly the same, fighting wise.
-
Anything that could perceived as Kirby's moveset not being changed in any way possible makes me shiver with anticipation.
-
I hope he gets some new abilities, maybe something like… Well, I can't think of any right now, so you'll have to get back to me.
I guess you're not being as paranoid about this as say, people that think Falcon got the ax. They're just crazy.
-
I hope they get rid of the Kirby Brick. I killed myself so many times using that by accident.
-
@Cyringohn:

Excuse me, but when was this ever stated? I mean, it makes sense, sure, but when was it ever said?
-
"#251-260: Sakurai will make Snake (and all other guest, i.e. 3rd party, characters) into an unlockable character. Sakurai will also eventually reveal all the secret characters (most likely what he did when melee was released: give details on a single starting character every week until release, then after release, give details on one secret character every week until they've all been done)." Translated from Sakurai's journal on the old Japanese website.
-
Can I get a link to the translation, Gohn? I happened to forget the name of Sakurai's old blog. It was Tamasii or something…? Agh.

Oh, I see. Okay, thank you. :)
