Alright, as for me, here's some progress I managed to get together.

Vivi wig for Klayr. It's much longer than it looks in this picture, and falls a a few inches past my butt, which should be of a decent length for someone taller than me.
Samurai colorspread Luffy progress, just the bottom layer. Damn did it take a lot of work just getting this much done. I'm looking forward to piling armor on top of it.

As for the Paulie coat, if you're seriously hardcore pressed for time, you can:
1. paint them on
2. cut out the flames and fabric glue them on
It all just depends on your experience with either method and your technique.
Would normal paint work or should I get a special type?
Acrylic paint works wonders, I've worked with it on a cotton shirt before.

Do you suggest different shades of tan to her a more natural shading, or perhaps more theatrical quality makeup rather than simple everyday foundation?

Youshi, you might try something to give a little more definition, like a contrasting brown or darker tan. For myself, since I'm fairly tanned, I use a dark brown cream makeup to create more definite shading and lines. Then use smudging and other makeup to blend it and make it more natural. I hope this helps a bit. I'll try and take some pics if I have the time, and give some examples of makeup you could use.

actually no I haven't posted anything since no matter what I'm working on I hardly have enough to take pictures of costumes without it looking borederline getto cause the little stuff I'm missing makes the costume… right now I'm working on the getto armor I'm making with squeeshy foam and fabric x__x; sorry no real awesome armor for me xD;
but that's the last thing I have that's a major thing for him... then I need to get that leather criss cross thing he has on his chest made, and replace the black buttons with gold ones I think if I really... get nit picky >___> which after the insane ammount of hand sewing I've already done on that god damn costume I am thinking I won't worry about it unless I have a bad dream or nightmare about it being wrong xDDDD I doubt I'm going to look that great but by god I swear to you O__O the cape... Kuma's suit should be relatively easy to make, my concern with him is the hair. I can't grow out my hair like that, and I'd rather not buy a wig. Anyone have a simple alternative? Also what do you think I should do about the bible; I want it to look like his, so should I just have it drawn out and then use it like a book cover on a big book? Maybe I could also go to Goodwill and find a blank purple book and just paint the cover.
As for Buu any tip is a good tip. The pants are going to be tough to find, and for the antenna I have no clue.

wow holy crap my dream would be to put together a shichibukai group but alas I don't know that many people and the people I do know I KNOW they wouldn't do it xDDDD wow I hope you'll take pictures! My sis and I are doing Doflamingo and Moria and we're getting Lynn to be Kuma and other than that uh O__O well I doubt we'll see anyone else as shichibukai xDDD
and I would suggest a wig and hmmmm I have an orangeish sketch book with yaoi in it… that's what I'd use for ... you know... his 'bible' xDDDD but that's me xD sometimes you can find giant sketch books and convert them? I know Youshi cosplayed as Kuma but she bought an actual book or went another way about it but from what I saw in pictures it looked pretty awesome n__n
then again Gege had a bible that had ... a really awesome and gaytastic Black Beard drawn on it... that was the best Kuma bible EVAR

I don't understand why someone wouldn't want to go through the effort of getting a wig for a cosplay? My god.. most of the hair-do's in One Piece are IMPOSSIBLE without wigs xDD Not to mention I cosplayed Sanji for a while and kept my hair in his style.. dude..
