@CosmicDebris:
The brand I get was the only kind they have at Trader Joes. I haven't been to a Mitsuwa in a while.
The Trader Joes brand is probably my least favorite for tea-flavored frozen mochi (if I'm remembering correctly, it isn't even real tea that they use), but it's the best strawberry frozen mochi, so you're in luck! ;)
And I almost bought a nice-seeming dealie last weekend, it was a tea maker that would brew with either tea bags or loose tea, which I thought was cool. Dunno how well it would have worked, but that seemed like a great thing to have in the morning if I wasn't in the mood for coffee.
Bevin, was it one of these?

If so, a friend has one, and she swears by it because it's convenient and easy to use, but she also admits that it's a little bit tricky to clean.
I still brew my tea the old-school way – with a saucepan and a teapot.
Flavoured tea is also considered quite gay here as well, along with Earl Grey …
Sheesh. Tough crowd.
Twinnings makes a tasty English Breakfast – I'll drink that when I'm walking through your neighborhood, Bad-beat. (Would I get beaten up if I added a twist of lemon to it though?)
but never heard of this red tea before. I'll have to look for it next time I am in china town.
Yeah, like megakazul said, it's not an Asian thing. It's actually not even "tea" – it's technically "herbal infusion"/"tisane" (like chamomile, peppermint and other non-tea "teas"). I'm not sure if you have a store called Cost Plus Imports up there in Canada, but if you do, just look in their tea section. Loads of different Rooibos products there. Most grocery stores carry at least one version too -- usually Celestial Seasonings brand.
Oh, but I should clarify something -- in some parts of China and Taiwan, if you ask for "red tea", you'll get black tea. So if you wandered into Chinatown and asked for "red tea", you might end up being served Lipton instead!
Some of the customers ask for the wierdest mixes. I think the most gross request I ever got was iced oolong and puerh with milk. Puerh has this odd smell, as it's processing takes place in a cave. So you've got bitter tea + a musty smelling tea + milk…
:blink:
That had to have been a dare. I can't imagine anyone willfully cutting a partially-fermented, sesame/nut/grass-flavored tea with a fully-fermented, disgusting smelling, smoky-flavored tea, and then cutting that with MILK. That would be like throwing chunks of durian into a bowl of oatmeal and yogurt.

Megakazul, if you don't mind me asking, at which tea shop did you work?
