None of those apply to shadows, yet they were intertaining.
Could Shadow Stealing Have a Physics Based Explanation

I was talking about how calculus and inverted algebraic formulation doohickeys and giraffe men don't mix.

Giraffe men make everything work. I wouldn't be suprised if Hogback's shadow stealing machine was powered by giraffes and Kakus.

Am I simply looking waaaay to deep into this (as usual) and should just accept Oda bringing magical elements into the series? Any takers?
Yes, you are.
Essentially, it has nothing to do with 'Peter Pan Magic' and everything to do with the fact that One Piece perfectly fools its readers into not needing explanations for everything through comedic tone and eccentric abilities.

Shadows are a physical object blocking light.
If you don't have a shadow, your transparent.
There is no explanation for stealing someones shadow using Physics. It defies the laws of them.
Edit: How is this the first time Oda introduced a magical thing into his manga? I mean the Brook thing confirmed the existence of an afterlife, and devil fruits themselves defy physics.
One piece isn't a realistic anime. I thought people realized this a while ago.
